The Outer Worlds

Early reviews are saying this game is pretty good and it is going to be a new blockbuster. Fans of Fallout will love it.

I was watching a streamer this morning and it looks really good. I might have to buy it tomorrow when it drops.

Anyone looking forward to this?

Basically, it's a scifi Fallout like game.

I'm actually trying out the XBox Game Pass for PC (starts at $1 for the first month, $4.99 a month after that), it has the game.

And a review:

"Classic RPG sensibilities enhance wonderful characters, punchy combat, and consistently excellent writing in this sharp space Western"

Looks like a spinoff from "Firefly". (Not a bad thing at all.)

The Outer Worlds: The Kotaku Review

Kotaku review. Might pick this up on release tomorrow. Depends how far I get on Definitive Edition of the TWD - currently about halfway through Season 2.

So how is it so far?

https://whatculture.com/gaming/the-o...than-fallout-4

Good reviews, this article compares against FO4 but I've read another that compares against FO76. No doubt FO76 lacks in RPG but tbh am somewhat concerned about re-playability and 40 hours play time.

Game Pass is your friend, then.

Well that pretty much sticks a fork in Outer Worlds for me as anything other than a bargain bin pickup

I replay 100-200 (or higher) hour games. I'm into 20+ hours on Age of Wonder III that I picked up for free on Steam. I probably get 40 hours a week out of friggin app games.

I picked it up. Quite fun so far, though I might not have gotten it if I'd known there's no romance options - which is one of the fun parts of these sorts of games.

I am curious what people are thinking of this after more time. My one concern is the game has just two planets , an asteroid belt, a moon and a space ship to travel and explore. It does sound quite small and not really a epic open world game. May pass on this and pick up the new SW Jedi Fallen Order game I stead.

It's not an open world in the traditional sense. It's more of an open area type game. For the record, Obsidian was saying from the start it's not going to be a game on the scale of Fallout or Skyrim because they simply didn't have the resources for a game like that when they started development. Now that they have Microsoft money they've said they're open to a more epic open world if there's a sequel.

Picture fallout meets firefly on a smaller scale with better gunplay and better writing. That's more or less what The Outer Worlds is.

Tossing up between this and Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment.

I would try the Xbox Game Pass version, and then decide.
