Just a quick note here...because of the weekend, i'm leaving this one open for 3 days...I forgot Monday is a holiday for some, so I hope this thread doesn't end up with a real small vote total...

Quick Summary:

A huge drop in voters in this round...I was afraid of that.

We had another tie, but Eddie Holman, gets the tiebreaker.

A little surprised Steam beat Signs...I wouldn't have predicted that.

I agree with the comments about There She Goes, unfortunate draw.

Deeper Thoughts:

Soft Cell vs The Las - as was mentioned a few times above the Las really got a bad break drawing this song in the first round. They probably did well to get 4 votes under the circumstances.

Eddie Holman vs Spiral Starecase - similar to The Exciters vs The Gentrys in group C, I thought Spiral Starecase would win because the song is more up tempo, but again I was wrong. This did end up being a tie, but again I had to remove my vote which allows Holman to move on.

Steam vs 5 Man Electric Band - Another surprise for me. In a lot of ways these are similar songs, but I felt with the exception of sporting events where Goodbye gets sung once the outcome is no longer in doubt, Signs is the more memorable tune and that would carry the day...

Marcie Blaine vs Shawn Colvin - This outcome wasn't a surprise. The Blaine tune is very old fashioned in its arrangement and content, and we aren't exactly the target audience to begin with.

The Cardigans vs Hugh Masekela - No doubter here (and on down for the most part)

The First Class vs OMC - Also expected this result, low vote total for OMC might be a sign of problems in round 2...against a tough match up.

Kajagoogoo vs The Reflections - another cake walk match up...buy like OMC, the low vote total might be a bad sign for round 2.

House of Pain vs Digible Planets - Blowout for HoP...
