CL Batter of the Month Honors to Davis
Sunday, May 1st, 2140: When Dave Davis stepped up to the plate in April, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Continental League Batter of the Month award.

The young Brooklyn first baseman posted a .409 batting average with 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 21 runs. Davis also worked pitchers for 8 walks to post a .457 on-base percentage.

RL Announces Best Batter Award
Sunday, May 1st, 2140: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Roberto Betacourt can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 33-year-old first baseman for Colorado was named the Republic League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In April he batted .430 with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Continental League Announces April's Top Pitcher
Sunday, May 1st, 2140: Veteran José González put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Brooklyn Brownstones, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

González racked up a 5-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 0.71 ERA over 38 innings and striking out 39.

Torres Earns RL Top Pitcher Trophy
Sunday, May 1st, 2140: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Ignacio Torres still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 31-year-old starter for Los Angeles was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and 1 loss with 20 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.66 ERA in 38 innings of work.

Sunday, May 1st, 2140: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Luis Rivera just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April.

Over the past month the 25-year-old left fielder for Noblesville hit .361 with 26 hits, 1 home run and 3 runs batted in. He also logged 8 walks and compiled a .439 on-base percentage.

Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Sunday, May 1st, 2140: Youngster Trevor Ward emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Chico deserved the honor, batting .283 with 5 home runs and 18 runs batted in. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? CL's Best Batter Announced
Wednesday, June 1st, 2140: The premier hitter in the Continental League in May was Baltimore first baseman Dani Palbes. For his standout play, he was voted the Batter of the Month.

Palbes was selected after batting .398, hitting 6 home runs, scoring 13 runs and driving in 25.

Palbes has a .337 average and a .405 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 59 hits, 6 home runs and driven in 33 runs.

RL Best Hitter Award to Hartford's Shumei Sakaguchi
Wednesday, June 1st, 2140: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 31-year-old Shumei Sakaguchi put together a solid offensive month for Hartford and was crowned May's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .427 with 11 home runs, 34 RBIs and 27 runs scored.



Sakaguchi is currently batting .358 with 15 home runs and 50 RBIs.

Henry CL Winner, Top Hurler in May
Wednesday, June 1st, 2140: Derek Henry's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-0 in May, the 29-year-old Apex hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 37 in 42 innings, logged an ERA of 1.50 and allowed opponents to hit .167 against him.

In 10 starts this year Henry has posted 5 wins while suffering 3 losses. He has pitched 74.1 innings, allowed 66 hits, struck out 57 and has a 3.39 ERA.

Republic League Picks Best Starter in May
Wednesday, June 1st, 2140: Paco Sánchez is the latest Republic League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Hartford starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished May with a sparkling 5-1 record.

In 6 starts last month, he fanned 27, walked 3 in 45.1 innings and posted a 2.18 ERA. Sánchez held opposing teams to a .233 batting average when he was on the mound.

This season Sánchez has a 7-3 mark in 11 starts with a 2.70 ERA. He has given up 70 hits in 80 innings, struck out 50 and issued 8 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .233 batting average against him.

Patton Voted May's Best CL Rookie
Wednesday, June 1st, 2140: Troy Patton was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 26 games Patton batted .414 for Brooklyn, slapping 36 hits in 87 at-bats with 1 home run, drove in 10 runs and scored 9 times.

On the year Patton is hitting .294 with 50 hits, 1 home run, 22 RBIs, .390 OBP and has scored 14 runs.

Gómez Receives May Rookie Award
Wednesday, June 1st, 2140: Javier Gómez's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Toronto center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .337 with 9 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs. Gómez also scored 13 times and drove in 16 runs.

So far this season Gómez is batting .317 with 4 home runs, 26 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 57 hits in 180 at-bats, 25 walks and a .431 OBP. Gómez has played in 49 games.

Moore Takes CL's Best Bat Award
Friday, July 1st, 2140: Cory Moore battered Continental League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Moore told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, Moore hit .340 with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 28 runs.

During the current season Moore is batting at a .236 clip with 15 home runs and 40 RBIs. He has played in 76 games and scored 46 times.

Los Angeles Right Fielder RL's Best Batter in June
Friday, July 1st, 2140: Victor Messer let his bat do the talking in June and the Republic League heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .352 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month.

Messer's month to remember saw him accumulate 32 hits, 12 home runs, 31 runs batted in, 25 runs, 15 walks and a .459 on-base percentage.

So far this season Messer has 16 home runs and a .291 batting average.

Sonora Picks up CL Monthly Pitching Honor
Friday, July 1st, 2140: José Sonora really strutted his stuff in June with 4 wins and 1 loss and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Continental League. The Tokyo starter was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 41 innings of work, Sonora limited opposing batters to 27 base hits and a .188 batting average. He totaled 26 strikeouts, issued 10 walks and had a 1.10 ERA.

To date this season, Sonora has registered 19 starts, 10-6 won-lost mark, 2.65 ERA, 122.1 IP, 78 strikeouts and 27 walks. Opposing teams have hit .207 against him.

June's Starter of the Month Goes to Guerra
Friday, July 1st, 2140: Roberto Guerra of Colorado had an excellent June with a 4-1 record and was selected the Pitcher of the Month in the Republic League.

He finished the month with a 1.19 ERA while piling up 28 strikeouts in 37.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .230 batting average.

This season Guerra has gone 6-6 with an ERA of 4.97, posting 64 strikeouts in 92.1 innings.

Top Rookie of the Month Named by CL
Friday, July 1st, 2140: Luis Rivera earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Noblesville left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Rivera hit .329 with 2 home runs, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Looking at his present stats, Rivera has compiled a .286 batting average in 70 games with a .377 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 22 runs.

Carrillo Gets June's Rookie Trophy
Friday, July 1st, 2140: José Carrillo is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Chico hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .359 average with 37 hits, 2 home runs and 10 RBIs.

Carrillo currently has a .317 batting average with 93 hits, 3 homers, 21 RBIs, 46 runs scored and a .362 OBP.

Sunday, July 10th, 2140: The All-Stars are in a clash by themselves. The star performers from the Continental League and Republic League will soon do battle in the 2140 Front Office Offseason League All-Star Game. It's an annual diamond spectacular that takes place at the midpoint of the season. Two superb ballclubs taking each other on in the All-Star Classic to determine the best league for this year. The talented stars are playing for league pride. Each roster is filled with standout performers.

Juan Solano Selected July's Best Batter
Monday, August 1st, 2140: July was a very productive month for Juan Solano, and today the Tokyo first baseman was rewarded with the Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

He clobbered enemy hurlers for a .324 average, 7 home runs, and 19 RBIs and scored 18 runs.

This season Solano has delivered 125 hits in 405 at-bats for a .309 average with 25 home runs. He is getting on base at a .385 clip and his totals also include 66 RBIs and 72 runs scored. This year Solano has played in 102 games.

RL Honors Bonce, #1 Batter in July
Monday, August 1st, 2140: Hammersmith's Armando Bonce had a productive July and topped it off by winning the Batter of the Month citation from the Republic League.

The 30-year-old catcher stood out at the plate with a .379 batting average, 7 home runs, 30 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

For the season Bonce is hitting .344, batted in 107 runs with 30 home runs and 68 runs scored.

Best Starter Chosen by Continental League
Monday, August 1st, 2140: Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 3-0 with a 1.55 ERA, Martín Lozano was selected as July's Continental League Pitcher of the Month today. Reporters caught up with the elated Brooklyn starter as he left the clubhouse.

"I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two, people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start."

Martín Lozano definitely contributed to the club. He had 4 starts, throwing 29 innings, striking out 16, and holding the opposition to a .198 average.

To date this year, Lozano shows a 11-4 record, 20 starts, 132 innings, 71 strikeouts and a 3.20 ERA.

RL Announces Best Pitcher for July
Monday, August 1st, 2140: The Republic League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to bullpen ace Robbie Taylor of Hammersmith for his outstanding work on the mound.

During the month, the Hooligans star stood out with 6 saves in 6 save opportunities, a 0.00 ERA and 3 wins and no losses. In 9.2 innings he struck out 13 and gave up 8 hits and 3 walks.

To this point in the season, Taylor has put up these figures: 5-3 record, 40 relief appearances with 45.1 innings, 24 saves, 46 strikeouts, 16 walks and a 2.58 ERA. He has limited other teams to a .264 batting average.

Monday, August 1st, 2140: Miguel García was acclaimed the Continental League Rookie of the Month for his fine play in July.

The 25-year-old Noblesville shortstop hit .245, swatted 4 home runs and drove in 19 runs. He also tagged 23 hits, scored 7 runs and picked up 9 walks for a .311 on-base percentage.

Thursday, September 1st, 2140: Dave Davis capped off a fine August by being named the Continental League Batter of the Month today.

Brooklyn's third baseman hit .391 while collecting 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and scoring 19 runs. He also drew 5 walks to post an OBP of .433.

CL Selects Román August's #1 Pitcher
Thursday, September 1st, 2140: The Continental League named the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award.
It went to Félix Román of Halifax Winter Wolves, who impressed the voters with a glittering 3-1 record in August.

The Halifax star hurler made 6 starts, allowed 24 hits in 40.1 innings, struck out 26 and had a 0.89 ERA.

On the season Román has a 14-4 record with a 2.27 ERA.

Thursday, September 1st, 2140: The hottest hurler in the Republic League last month was Scott Osborn of the Colorado Rancheros. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the RL Pitcher of the Month.

In August, the Noblesville left fielder posted a .341 average while racking up 29 hits, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.

Saturday, October 1st, 2140: When Félix Román takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Halifax victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 5-0 mark and a 1.15 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 39 innings, fanned 26, and held enemy hitters to a .165 average.

That's why the Winter Wolves star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Continental League.

This year Román has a 19-4 record with a 2.06 ERA.

Cross Acclaimed Top Pitcher in September
Saturday, October 1st, 2140: September's best hurler was John Cross of Toronto. He overwhelmed RL hitters all month long and captured the Pitcher of the Month award as he collected a 4-1 record in 5 starts.

The 34-year-old Cross added 33 strikeouts in 37.2 innings and 8 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.11 ERA. Other clubs hit .259 against him.

Saturday, October 1st, 2140: Troy Patton earned September's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Brooklyn left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Patton hit .322 with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and 13 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

A look at his current stats shows Patton with a .275 average, 5 home runs, 71 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has played in 153 games.

Rookie Rapper Reaps RL Honors
Saturday, October 1st, 2140: In the month of September José Carrillo hit the ball hard, often and with authority and was honored as the Republic League Rookie of the Month.
