OOTP6 Interactive Dynasty - 2017

It's time to start the 2017 season. Since we have no rookies, we can jump right into it.

Since it looks like it's taking a while for some of you to develop, I'm gonna only post frequent updates for guys that have made the majors. Players in the minors will receive midseason and end of season reports.

Player: SS Danny Wilson
Team: Milwaukee
Current Assignment: High Desert, A
Roster Slot: Starting SS, #2 Hitter

Notable Events:

None

Current Stats:

None

Player: 3B Travis Elkin
Team: Boston
Current Assignment: Pawtucket, AAA
Roster Slot: #3 Hitter

Notable News:

Boston decided to go with only one 3B this season. Travis is the next guy in line, but Altamirano is signed through 2018 and is coming off a .292, 24 HR, 108 RBI season. It may be 2019 before Travis gets to play regularly.

Current Stats:

None

Player: SP Tang Le Wood
Team: San Francisco
Current Assignment: Norwich, AA
Roster Slot: #2 Starter

Notable Events:

Tang has been promoted back to AA. His injuries have seriously curtailed his development. San Francisco's scout is no longer convinced of his ability to make the majors.

None

Current Stats:

None

Player: SP Rob Nielsen
Team: Kansas City
Current Assignment: Rochester, AAA
Roster Slot: #1 Starter

Notable Events:

Rob has been moved back to the minors, losing his job to free agent William Pompey. However, he is next in line in case of injuries or a trade. I expect him to be called up before the year is over.

Current Stats:

None

Player: 1B Jesse Ewiak
Team: Pittsburgh
Current Assignment: Hickory, A
Roster Slot: #8 Hitter

Notable Events:

Jesse is still stuck at Single A, but I expect him to have ahuge year there and move up soon.

Current Stats:

None

Player: SP Walter Alexander
Team: Cincinnatti
Current Assignment: Potomac, A
Roster Slot: #1 Starter

Notable Events:

Walter is still waiting to move up to AA, but they have shown confidence in making him the #1 starter this year.

Current Stats:

None

Player: SS James Halford
Team: Montreal
Current Assignment: Brevard County (My Hometown!)
Roster Slot: #2 Hitter

Notable Events:

Halford showed power last season, but will have to improve on that .214 average if he wants to move up in the organization.

Current Stats:

None

Player: 2B Al Mighty
Team: Boston
Current Assignment: Sarasota, A
Roster Slot: #7 Hitter

Notable Events:

I'm surprised Mighty has not been moved up yet. He had a nice year in A last season and I expect him to have en even better one this year.

Current Stats:

None

Player: P John Naumoff
Team: Minnesota
Current Assignment: Minnesota, AL
Roster Slot: Middle Reliever

Notable Events:

Naumoff still has not been moved to the starting rotation. It looked like he'd be the closer for a second, but Minnesota moved him to middle relief at the last minute.

Current Stats:

None

MR John Naumoff

As you can see, John had a very rought start to the season:

4/5 @CHA L 11-12 0.2 3 5 5 2 2
4/8 @TB L 8-17 3 7 5 5 1 2
4/10 @TB W 10-4 4 3 1 1 1 1 SV

I just noticed that Travis has been moved back up to the big leagues, since Altamirano is out with an injury.

He started 5 games, until for some reason they lost confidence in him and decided to start Justin Douse, who was claimed off waivers when Altamirano was injured.

Travis played very well in his limited time as a starter:

Date Opp. Result AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K Spot

4/24 @TB W 9-4 4 1 2 0 0 0 1 1 2 #7

5/4 @KCA W 13-5 4 2 1 0 0 0 0 1 3 #6

5/5 @KCA W 9-4 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 #6

7 23 7 2 0 0 5 4 3 9 .304 .385 .391 .776 .706 .087

Douse has not performed nearly as well but they seem to have confidence in him. Altamirano is expected to be back in one week and Travis will probably be moved back down to the minors at that point.

This dynasty will be on hold for a little bit, because tomorrow at 2pm I will undergo surgery to repair my broken heel. I will probably be confined to my bed for the first week or so of recovery and not be able to make it to the computer.

I'm really enjoying doing this dynasty though, so it will continue once I'm healed. I will still have another week or so of recovery once I'm able to get out of bed, so that will help. God bless short term disability.

Yikes, good luck man, here's hoping for a speedy recovery. I've had foot problems before, not quite to the surgery point, but something about being down a wheel always makes it seem that much worse.

Good luck!

Back on my feet and here we go....

June 1st Update:

Travis was indeed moved back down to the minors when Altamirano returned. He did not get any more playing time, but we did have a call up:

Player: SP Rob Nielsen
Team: Kansas City
Current Assignment: Kansas City, AL
Roster Slot: #4 Starter

Notable Events:

As expected, Rob was called up due to multiple injuries. He is now the #4 starter but will likely be moved back down in little more than a week. He may get 2 more starts out of his stint. Hopefully they will get better.

All Star Break Update:

Player: SS Danny Wilson
Team: Philadelphia
Current Assignment: Reading, AA
Roster Slot: Starting SS, #2 Hitter

Notable Events:

Well, Danny was traded once again. Now he's with the Phillies, who are in desperate need of a SS for the future Danny is already with their AA club. The guy at AAA is a 3b they are trying to teach, but he's not very good either way. 30 yr old Edward Bussell is the current MLB starter and is above average. Danny will probably be the starter when Bussell leaves. Of course, he will have to stay put for a change.

Septermber 1st Call Ups

3B Travis Elkin, Boston - Travis will be a backup 3B and pinch hitter. Boston is currently 9.5 games back in their division and well back in the wildcard race as well.
P Rob Nielsen, Kansas City - Rob was called back up to be a Middle Reliever on July 21st and he will remain in that position for the rest of the season barring an injury to the rotation. His stats have not gotten much better:

Year G GS W L SV ERA IP HA R ER HR BB K CG SHO WHIP Teams
2017 14 7 2 5 0 7.04 53.2 65 49 42 9 35 23 0 0 1.86
KCA

John Naumoff has also struggled in his role as middle reliever:

Year G GS W L SV ERA IP HA R ER HR BB K CG SHO WHIP Teams
2017 29 0 1 2 2 7.53 49.0 59 43 41 8 40 28 0 0 2.02 MIN

John better get it together, though. Minnesota is in the midst of a playoff race. They are 6 games down with 32 to go.

Postseason Race Update:

Minnesota has faded badly and is fighting to stay out of the cellar. Surprisingly, it's Boston who is in the thick of things. With 9 games remaining, they are 4 behind the Yankees but only 3 behind Anaheim in the wildcard race. We'll do a day by day report from here as Boston finishes up a 3 game series against the Yankees. They already took the first game.

09/28 - Boston beats New York 9-6 and Anaheim falls to SEattle, moving Boston one game closer in both of their races.
09/29 - Boston falls to New York 7-4, putting them 4 games behind. Thankfully Anaheim lost again, so Boston remains 2 back in the wildcard race. Travis managed a pinch hit in this game.
09/30 - Boston and New York are both off. Anaheim beats Seattle to take a 2.5 game lead over Boston.
10/01 - Boston beats Toronto 13-5 but both of their rivals win. Anaheim is now within 1 game of Texas in the West division.
10/02 - Boston loses a heartbreaker 6-5, coming up just short after scoring 4 runs in the 9th. New York lost but Anaheim win. Boston is now 4 behind both with 4 to go.
10/03 - Boston beats Toronto 3-1 but loses their shot at the postseason when New York and Anaheim both win.

Notable Events:

Tang struggled once again this season and now I highly doubt he will ever make the majors. I think the frequent injuries killed his development.
