OT: Do all the hattrick threads bother you?
I think it is safe to say that hattrick has exploded in the forum, so my question is does this bother people who do not play the game?
I attempted to move some of the discussion over to the dynasty forum regarding the team list and other things and I have never noted any complaints from there. My second question would be for the hattrickers. Would you support a separate forum for hattrick? Good idea? Would you visit it if it was made? I would rather not make a poll as I hope this could be discussed.

Here's what bothers me and makes the board sometimes almost unreadable. Dumb ass Survivor polls and Group think threads.

I guess, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of more forums. The dynasty polls never get read and I think the same will happen if there is a hattrick forum. I figure it's a lot less harmful and inane than a lot of stuff on here. SI

Yes, bugs me greatly. Simply because threads I am interested in keep getting bumped down the list or off the page. I would love to see a seperate section of this discussion board (i.e. general, dynasties, etc.) devoted to "hot" non-FOF games. When the next hot game comes out, be it baseball, hockey, soccer, whatever, the flurry of activity would be compartmentalized a bit.

Although I don't like the idea of more forums, I think that seperate Hattrick and gaming (interactive gaming threads) forums might take some of the volume off the main discussion forum. As it stands now, if I don't log in for a day or two, I have to scroll two or three pages back in order to see if someone responded to a thread I was reading the day before. Just something for the mods to consider....

I don't play and the threads don't bother me at all. If I'm not interested in something I don't open it.

I tend to think its about time to create a seperate sim forum for discussion of games.
With Hattrick, CM4, OOTP5, FOF4, Puresim, EHM, TYC all out, or coming out, there will be plenty of discussion to warrant this. Then the General discussion could just be the polls, games, OT posts, and anything else we come up with. The concern I have is if this would change the chemistry of the board. Perhaps someone will post a poll to held decide |

Oh yeah, It doesnt really bother me either. I just think that as the forum grows, having everything in one place will end up detracting from the overall quality of the threads |

i'm a bit torn on this issue. If we move the hattrick discussion to another forum it takes away from what the General Discussion forum has become, a place to talk about everything. I surely do not want a seperate forum to talk about OOTP, CM, FOF, Puresim, EHM or whatever. All that type of discussion belongs in the General discussion forum, becasue this place has become sim central.
So i guess if we made a seperate forum for Hattrick that would be ok, as long as it was only hattrick and we kept everything else here. I'm interested in all those sims and i don't like reading about them here, where i read about everthing else. And while we're talking about forum changes, how about getting rid of the College Football forum? does anyone actually use that place? Whew... fairly long winded |

I wouldn't find seeing a forum for Interactive Gaming, or putting them in the dynasties forum. Sometimes it's annoying to see 9 different threads about the same topic / project on the front page. Perhaps people can attempt to use existing threads (this goes for all topics) instead of starting new ones about similar topics.

Trouble is, these can show up in any thread... I don't have the (easy) option to just not click on the ones that are clearly labeled as something that doesn't interest me. As for the Hattrickers, Survivors, pollsters, and the GroupThinkers... unless the thread volume for that stuff gets far larger than it is, I don't see how their presence really imposes on anyone. |

I personally enjoy the diversity of threads on this forum and have been informed of many other games I would not have otherwise found except for these threads. I like all the Hattrick threads and read all of the dynasty reports. I don't like the survivor threads or the proliferation of polls but I simply don't read them and they don't bother me at all. Keep truckin.

Mountain brings up a very good point. If the threads regarding Hattrick (and any other specific game, for that matter), are relegated to their own "little corner of the board," then the amount of exposure they will receive to the general FOFC population will shrink considerably.
How many people on this board are currently playing and enjoying Hattrick, simply because they wanted to see what all the noise was about in the first place? That "noise" wouldn't reach the ears of a lot of FOFCers if it was all contained in its own little section. Now, what would be handy is an "ignore thread" button, but I think that is a different topic altogether.

Good question, and everyone brings up valid points. However, I think those that argue that moving them would eliminate their presence, and limit the exposure to new people, are wrong. I think having its own forum would draw the curious just as well as multitudes of threads does.
Personally, I'm always wondering how to voice hattrick questions, as a newbie...should I post in the Dynasty Reports? Attach it to the end of another hattrick thread that's already existing, to have it possibly ignored or threadjack someone? Or post an entire new thread, possibly annoying those that aren't hattrickers already? I think a new forum would work...we have enough people now that talk about it that the forum would be used, and it would keep hattrick discussion to "its own little corner of the board." Just my $0.02 though.

One thing that should be noted is that there isn't a huge volume or traffic here, so they're probably not taking the space of anything else...and that they may not generate as much interest if moved off of the main board...

All FOF, Hattrick, CM, polls and all these other "off-topic" threads bother me. If it doesn't have anything to do with OOTP, CDs recorded by a moderator or events that are important to a moderator, it should be posted. We need more on-topic discussions for this forum.
Michael, does this qualify as a dumb ass post from a nitwit, or am I eligible to invoke a fair comment/satire clause? |

Nearly 70 some odd threads started in the past 30 days involving Hattrick. With an average of over 1 new thread per day it may be time to get a separate section going if for nothing else but to get the Hattrickers more organized.

If we had separate forums for all these games, there would be like 2 posts in this forum a day.

The number of off topic threads on the first page of this forum does not support this statement. Also, what is up with the College Football forum where there have only been 30 or 40 posts since January? Why does that topic deserve its own section but not something more active like Hattrick? |

I didn't think it was mean-spirited. I got a decent giggle, er, I meant chuckle . . . chuckle out of that and kcchief's posts.
For some boards, a number of separated forums works and works very well (GoneGold is an outstanding example of this). For this board, it hasn't shown itself to work out. Name a forum on this board (in any of the 3 incarnations) other than Dynasty that has managed to draw significant traffic. Additionally, I'm not sure Ryan and Ben exactly has the time to sit here and "police" to make sure threads goes into the proper forum. Nor would it make any sense to waste their valuable time on that. Right now the board is loaded with Hattrick threads. Soon as Marc lets us have CM4, it'll be loaded with that. And so on and so forth with whatever flavour du jour happens to come up. Why does it matter one bit? It's pretty much part of the "charm" of this place. |
