What a Finish!!!
Well, i tried looking around online to even find the teams involved in this, let alone video of it, and i couldnt.
On the news last night, they showed highlights of what i assume to be a d-3 mens college basketball game in virginia (though it could be high school. i never heard of the teams involved, and now forget). anyway, its a 68-68 tie, kids drives to the hoop. gets fouled with .6 seconds left in the game. all he has to do is make 1 free throw to win. he hits the first. so now he has to miss the 2nd, so the clock runs out. he misses. but a kid on the other team grabs the ball under the hoop, and LAUNCHES it the length of the court. SWISH! 71-69 win. the kid caught the ball, and had it leave his hands with .1 seconds left. he caught it, and got it out of his hands THE LENGTH OF THE COURT in .5 seconds! i havent been able to track down the story online. maybe someone here can. i saw the highlight last night, which leads me to guess it happened on january 31st...but couldve been a day game on the 1st. who knows. but it was incredible. |

It gets better. Apparently a local (Greensboro, NC) news station decided to see if he could do it again.
http://wfmynews2.com/sports/sports_a...?storyid=35718 I just wonder, is this the kind of thing you practice, sorta like how Cesar Izturis and Alex Cora spent time working on a backhand-flip-while-laying-face-down double play? Just in case it's useful? |

Considering the stuff we used to practice when we were going 4 evenings a week, I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of those things a couple of guys would mess with at some point during practice as a 'just in case'. I can relate a bit more to the weirder baseball one's, but having never played basketball at a 'high' level, I could understand why you'd at least stay familiar with this type of shot/try to figure out he best form for being somewhat accurate with it.
