Sunday, October 31st, 2077: It's been said that the best offense is a good defense. That's why contending teams are always looking to improve on the defensive side of the game. Keeping runs from scoring is just as good as driving them in. The top fielders have been chosen in the Continental League for 2077. Here are the Slick Fielder Award winners:

These magicians are often taken for granted as the season grinds along, but today they take center stage. The Republic League Slick Fielder Award selections for 2077 are:

Cruz This Year's Top Rookie
Monday, November 1st, 2077: Jesús Cruz of the Washington Freedom made quite a splash on the Continental League scene in 2077 by nabbing the Kien-lung Teng Award.

The standout Freedom right fielder took the honor by hitting .339 in 125 games this season and finishing with 116 hits, 6 home runs, 49 RBIs and 70 runs scored.

2077 Best Rookie is Bullpen Ace
Monday, November 1st, 2077: All year long Arnie Lewis was the anchor of the Ann Arbor bullpen. He made 85 appearances, had 32 save opportunities and nailed down 7 of them. The voters fell for him hook, line and sinker and gave him the Republic League Kien-lung Teng Award for 2077.

Lewis was 10-3 with a 3.56 ERA. He hurled 101 innings, yielded 82 hits and fanned 135 batters. Other clubs hit .220 against him.

Mauro Morales Award Winner Announced
Wednesday, November 3rd, 2077: The Mauro Morales Award for 2077 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Ray Hubbard of Washington.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Hubbard. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Freedom star told reporters.

Hubbard excelled with an impressive 17-8 record in 33 starts. In 208 innings he yielded 187 hits and 48 walks, while striking out 196 and compiling a fine 3.07 ERA.

Top Pitcher Trophy Won by Naps Walker
Wednesday, November 3rd, 2077: Stephen Walker of the Cleveland Naps is in the spotlight today. He was voted the top pitcher in the Republic League and will be presented the 2077 Mauro Morales Award.

He started 40 times and compiled a 17-9 record with an ERA of 3.04 in 233.2 innings with 197 strikeouts.

I love bringing back my C and 3B for less than what they wanted in arby.

Mixed bag in free agency today.

I brought back my ace pitcher Rodriguez and the key to my whole outfield defense in Imamura. I also added a much better defensive SS in James. And Reed Jones was the best power hitter available, one of the few areas I was weak at last year on offense.

The negatives are, though, that my former best player Neely turned down more money and more years from me to sign with Las Vegas, and then Las Vegas also signed longtime star Velez. I expected to lose Velez, so that was an expected pain, but it still sucks (and because Vegas signed him, I don't get multiple #1s for him and Neely). I also lost out on Colon to Spring. I should have known Tasan would see his value and give him a solid enough deal to beat my offer out.

At least I still have cap room to play with to continue to improve the team.

I had to release Elvis Reese today. 39 years old, and:
- 19th on the all time hit list (3307)
- 20th all time in walks (1859)
- 16th all time in runs scored (1950)
- 5th all time in stolen bases (895)


I was hoping he'd retire, but he didn't. Just had to eat the last year of his contract.

The first person I ever truly got attached to here. Drafted him, kept him on my roster until age 39, and will watch him walk into the HOF.
