Davis Takes Home CL Top Batter Award
Wednesday, May 1st, 2143: Dave Davis battered Continental League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Davis told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 22 games, Davis hit .405 with 4 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 18 runs.



Republic League Announces April's Best Batter
Wednesday, May 1st, 2143: April's Batter of the Month Award has been given out by the Republic League. This month's trophy was presented to the Hartford first baseman, Bryan Huff.

He starred by hitting .333 with a .390 on-base percentage, totaled 36 hits in 108 at-bats, 10 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 20 runs.

Victorie Is April's Top Starter
Wednesday, May 1st, 2143: Teun Victorie has made fans throughout Front Office Offseason League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 4-0 record. No pitcher in the Continental League threw better in April, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 6 starts Victorie compiled a 1.65 ERA, putting up a 4-0 record, striking out 35 and tossing 43.2 innings.


Rebels López April's #1 Pitcher
Wednesday, May 1st, 2143: Veteran Tony López put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Chico Rebels, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

López racked up a 5-1 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.27 ERA over 43.2 innings and striking out 28.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2143: Finley Dyke was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old shortstop definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 23 games Dyke batted .223 for Brooklyn, slapping 21 hits in 94 at-bats with no home runs, drove in 2 runs and scored 13 times.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2143: Mark Flynn's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Chico right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .407 with 7 doubles, no triples and 5 home runs. Flynn also scored 10 times and drove in 21 runs.

Byrd Top Hitter in CL in May
Saturday, June 1st, 2143: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 28-year-old Adam Byrd put together a solid offensive month for Napa Valley and was crowned May's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .410 with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 21 runs scored.



Byrd is currently batting .347 with 15 home runs, 54 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has 58 hits in 167 at-bats.


RL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Saturday, June 1st, 2143: Snap, crackle and pop!
In May, Carlos Sánchez snapped up the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy by cracking 40 hits and popping 5 home runs.

For the month he hit a solid .360 with 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The Hammersmith right fielder also picked up 19 walks to compile a .459 on-base percentage.

In his stats this season, Sánchez has posted a batting average of .288 with 60 hits in 208 at-bats, 5 home runs and 21 RBIs. He has also scored 30 runs, walked 28 times and compiled a .387 OBP.

Kichida Picks up CL Monthly Pitching Honor
Saturday, June 1st, 2143: Over the past month Naruhiko Kichida has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Continental League. He proved all that and now he's been named May's Pitcher of the Month.

The rookie for the Halifax Winter Wolves posted 4-1 mark and a 1.80 ERA. In 5 starts he tossed 35 innings, permitted 21 hits and fanned 21 batters.

In 10 starts this season Kichida has compiled a 6-1 record and a 2.18 ERA.


Lugo RL Winner, Top Hurler in May
Saturday, June 1st, 2143: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Jorge Lugo still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 32-year-old starter for Los Angeles was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and 1 loss with 28 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.28 ERA in 42.1 innings of work.

Presently Lugo has a 7-3 mark in 10 starts with a 2.43 ERA. He has given up 72 hits in 81.1 innings, struck out 50 and issued 14 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .240 batting average against him.

Halifax Rookie Humbles CL Hitters
Saturday, June 1st, 2143: It was an awesome May for Naruhiko Kichida. The young Halifax starter surprised opponents all month and today was announced as the Continental League Rookie of the Month.

In 5 starts he registered a 4-1 record and racked up 21 strikeouts and a 1.80 ERA in 35 innings.

This year Kichida has gone 6-1 with an ERA of 2.18 and has 38 strikeouts in 62 innings.


Newcomer of the Month Picked
Saturday, June 1st, 2143: Mark Flynn is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Chico hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .391 average with 34 hits, no home runs and 9 RBIs.

Flynn is batting .399 this season in 44 games with 5 home runs, 30 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 71 hits in 178 at-bats.

Noblesville First Baseman CL's Best Batter in June
Monday, July 1st, 2143: Pung-cho Kim of the Noblesville Millers recorded a .385 batting average in June. His hitting spree racked up the Continental League Batter of the Month award for his trophy case.

The Noblesville first baseman battered opposing pitchers all month, accumulating 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and scoring 20 runs.

In the 2143 season Kim is hitting .371 with 19 home runs.


Greg Spence is June's #1 Hitter in RL
Monday, July 1st, 2143: Greg Spence is on a tear! After posting a .393 average in June, the Toronto first baseman took home the Republic League Batter of the Month award handed out earlier today.

He cracked 35 hits with 8 home runs and 28 RBIs and scored 26 runs. The 26-year-old also collected 17 free passes and posted a .495 on-base percentage.

Presently Spence is batting .326 with 97 hits and 15 home runs. He has knocked in 48 runs and scored 59 times.

Halifax Starter Named CL's Top Pitcher
Monday, July 1st, 2143: The best pitcher this past month in the Continental League was Naruhiko Kichida of the Halifax Winter Wolves. He really razzle-dazzled league hitters, finishing June with a standout 4-0 record and 1.50 ERA.

The Winter Wolves hurler made 5 starts and surrendered 19 hits in 36 innings. He struck out 24 and walked 17.

On the season Kichida has compiled a 10-1 mark with a 1.93 ERA in 15 starts. In pitching 98 innings he has 62 strikeouts and 52 walks while limiting the opposition to a .182 batting average.


RL Selects Torres June's Best Pitcher
Monday, July 1st, 2143: Félix Torres was the anchor in the Ann Arbor bullpen last month and snatched up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors for June. The 27-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 11 innings over 10 relief appearances and collected a 3-0 record with 10 strikeouts and 6 saves while etching his 4.09 ERA.

Torres has 34 relief appearances this season with 17 saves. Torres has also compiled a 5-2 won-lost mark with a 1.73 ERA. In 36.1 innings he has fanned 36.

Kichida Selected June's Top CL Rookie
Monday, July 1st, 2143: Few players his age have the consistency to put a solid month together, but Halifax's Naruhiko Kichida carved up the opposition all June long and hauled off the Continental League Rookie of the Month award today as a result.

He sizzled last month with a 4-0 mark, fanning 24 in 36 innings with an ERA of 1.50 in 5 starts.

In 15 starts this year Kichida has posted 10 wins while suffering 1 loss. He has pitched 98 innings, allowed 61 hits, struck out 62 and has a 1.93 ERA.


RL Best Newcomer Trophy Awarded
Monday, July 1st, 2143: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Tatsuzo Suzuki just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for June.

Over the past month the 22-year-old first baseman for Los Angeles hit .453 with 29 hits, 4 home runs and 20 RBI. He also logged 12 walks and compiled a .538 on-base percentage.

For the season Suzuki is currently batting .297 with 10 home runs and 41 RBIs. In 63 games he has reached base at a .388 rate and scored 37 runs to date.

Vincent Crowned Top CL Hitter in July
Thursday, August 1st, 2143: Patrick Vincent of the Noblesville Millers had a field day with Continental League pitchers last month and was crowned the Batter of the Month as a result.

During July he compiled a .355 batting average, drove in 19 runs and scored 17 times. He also managed to pick up 3 walks to post a .386 on-base percentage.

On the season, Vincent is batting .314 with 22 home runs and 64 RBIs. He has played in 96 games.


Huff Named RL Batter of the Month
Thursday, August 1st, 2143: Bryan Huff, the Hartford first baseman, had a productive month in July. He put up some solid numbers with a .351 batting average (39 for 111), 13 home runs, 33 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

That standout offense earned him the Republic League Batter of the Month Trophy.

This season Huff is hitting .325 with 35 home runs.

Apex's Guerrero Chosen July's Best in CL
Thursday, August 1st, 2143: Héctor Guerrero of Apex had an award-winning July as he took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Guerrero's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in July except for Héctor."

Guerrero was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 4-0 record in 5 starts. He struck out 32 batters in 36.1 innings and kept opponents to a .183 batting average.

To date this year, Guerrero shows a 13-4 record, 20 starts, 134.2 innings, 124 strikeouts and a 3.34 ERA.


RL Announces Best Pitcher for July
Thursday, August 1st, 2143: Tough in the clutch -- that's a bullpen specialist. And one of the best in the league is Miguel Souza of the Hartford Harpooners. Souza was outstanding in July and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Republic League.

Hartford's star reliever held the opposition to a .171 average and put up 9 saves and 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings with a 2-0 mark and a 0.79 ERA.

This season Souza has made 38 relief appearances, saving 24. His record is 4-4 with 40 strikeouts in 39.1 innings and a 1.37 ERA.

Dyke Voted CL's #1 Rookie
Thursday, August 1st, 2143: Youngster Finley Dyke emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Brooklyn deserved the honor, batting .313 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. Is the month of July a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Dyke enjoy the limelight.

This year Dyke is hitting .245 with 104 hits, 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and has scored 59 runs.


Suzuki Receives July Rookie Award
Thursday, August 1st, 2143: Tatsuzo Suzuki earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Los Angeles first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Suzuki hit .292 with 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Thus far this season Suzuki is hitting .296 with 13 home runs, 52 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 85 hits in 287 at-bats and has played in 82 games.

Solano Takes CL's Best Bat Trophy
Sunday, September 1st, 2143: On the heels of a very productive August, Juan Solano received Continental League Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested center fielder hit .413 for the Tokyo Cyclones and racked up 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

This year Solano is batting .310 with 151 hits and 24 home runs. He has scored 77 times and has batted in 69 runs.


August's Best Batter Announced
Sunday, September 1st, 2143: In August, Greg Spence beat the baseball like a drum the entire month and netted the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

In 27 games the Toronto first baseman hit .364 with 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

This season Spence has hit 28 home runs and posted a .331 batting average.

Flores Stands Out, Choice for Best Pitcher
Sunday, September 1st, 2143: Pancho Flores's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-1 in August, the 32-year-old Baltimore hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 34 in 41.2 innings, logged an ERA of 2.59 and allowed opponents to hit .234 against him.

So far this season, Flores has logged a 11-11 record with a 3.93 ERA. He has started 25 games, hurled 169.1 innings and registered 132 strikeouts and 41 walks.


Ramírez Wins Best RL Pitcher
Sunday, September 1st, 2143: Héctor Ramírez nailed down August's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Hammersmith to get a deal done before the 34-year-old becomes a free agent.

Ramírez seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 4-0 record, reeled off 11 strikeouts, worked 38 innings and held batters to a .220 average for the month as he posted a 1.89 ERA.

So far this season Ramírez has a 10-8 record, 25 starts, 152.2 innings, 66 strikeouts and a 4.60 ERA.

Dyke Voted August's Top Rookie
Sunday, September 1st, 2143: In August, budding star Finley Dyke had quite a month as he smashed up the Continental League and stashed away the Rookie of the Month award in his trophy case.

During the month he hit .351 with 6 doubles, 1 triple and no home runs. Dyke also scored 13 times and drove in 11 runs.

Dyke is currently hitting at a .264 pace with 3 home runs and 30 RBIs.

Sunday, September 1st, 2143: August was a month Hammersmith third baseman Luis Piña is not likely to forget very soon. Not only did he hit .392, he was also named the winner of the Republic League Rookie of the Month award.

He nailed down the honor with a .392 average, 29 hits, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 13 runs scored during the month.

Francisco Martínez Selected September's Best Batter
Tuesday, October 1st, 2143: The Continental League has made it official -- Francisco Martínez is the winner of the Batter of the Month trophy.

In September, the Halifax left fielder starred with a .394 batting average, 8 home runs and 20 RBIs. Martínez also had 7 walks, posted a .444 on-base percentage and scored 25 times.

Currently Martínez has 27 home runs and a .311 batting average.


Los Angeles's Olivares Bags RL Top Batter for September
Tuesday, October 1st, 2143: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Francisco Olivares can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 35-year-old first baseman for Los Angeles was named the Republic League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In September he batted .356 with 9 home runs, 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

This season Olivares is batting .289 with 175 hits, 35 home runs, 91 RBIs, 48 walks, .354 OBP and has scored 91 runs. He has played in 151 games.

Apex's Hogan Top Pitcher in September
Tuesday, October 1st, 2143: In September Apex starter Derrek Hogan confused hitters all month long. Last month's Continental League Pitcher of the Month took home the trophy as he collected a 4-0 record in 5 starts.

The 33-year-old Hogan added 37 strikeouts in 35 innings and 7 walks to his season record and compiled a 2.31 ERA. Other clubs hit .237 against him.

In 30 starts this year Hogan has recorded a 13-9 record and a 3.81 ERA.


RL's Top Starter is Crisstomo
Tuesday, October 1st, 2143: The hottest hurler in the Republic League last month was Márcio Crisstomo of the Hartford Harpooners. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the RL Pitcher of the Month.

In September, Crisstomo starred with an impressive 3-0 record. In 5 starts he gave up 31 base hits and struck out 21 in 31 innings with a 3.48 ERA.

Looking at his season stats, Crisstomo has won 10 and lost 8, collecting 129 strikeouts and 68 walks in 192 innings with a 5.67 ERA.

Tuesday, October 1st, 2143: Tomás Nava of the Brooklyn Brownstones has been voted the top Rookie in the Continental League.

In September he collected 28 hits, 1 home run, 9 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He batted .289 with a .311 OBP.
