1845 Offseason Thread

I'm pondering a schedule change. Was talking to at least one owner about this and it seems like it'd make more sense to give us more time for possible wheeling and dealing and to kill the lag between the end of the regular season and the post-season since there's really no reason for that big a break.

Any ideas?

I would definitely agree that the gap between the end of the season and the start of the postseason felt too long, but I'm honestly not sure how long it actually was.

The World Champion Hornets are offering the following players for trade. PM me here. I would prefer prospects although I am looking also for a quality third baseman.

C Curt Cochrane - makes $3.0 million for the next three years. Decent hitter, great defender.

CF Phil Batstone - last year of contract in 1845 at $2.0 million. Excellent defense. Has some power.

Would this work??

1st Half runs on Tuesday.
Draft is run on Wednesday.
2nd Half is run on Thursday.
Playoffs run on Friday.

Then second half as normal (although to be honest I'd like to see another FA sim added so we could have more extended bidding wars. Maybe FA1 on Wednesday, then FA2 Thursday, FA3 Friday??)

FA1 on Thursday
FA2 on Friday
Spring Training/Sim to the start of the season on Saturday

I like it. Maybe for the second off-season, we can just stretch out FA like this:

tuesday FA1
wednesday FA2
thursday FA3
friday FA4
sat ST/start of the season sim

Rather than sim all the way to the pre-season, we'll sim a few days at a time for the first three sims (about 5 days) and then FA4 will be the big sim all the way to spring training.

The current setup sims the 2nd half friday and then you get the weekend off and playoffs are on monday.

Ok, going to go ahead and advance to the start of FA now. For next regular season, we'll operate with this schedule though:

We'll run this off-season like normal. Next off-season, we'll do it with the extended free agency periods and I'll update the schedule accordingly.

Just like watching Will Allen leave Memphis because I couldn't get a deal worked out in time. Five very solid, very well-paid years.

Ok, file is up. We'll do spring training tomorrow amd as a reminder, here's the new season schedule:

1st Half runs on Tuesday.
Draft is run on Wednesday.
2nd Half is run on Thursday.
Playoffs run on Friday.

That should keep us engaged throughout the week. Should be interesting.

I still had a low payroll team so I figured I'd take the best arm available and further strengthen my starting rotation. I'm hoping this now lets me trade away one of my starters to rebuild my farm system a bit.

Probably overpaid, especially when I see the pretty low contract that Gilles got, but I am hoping he will help put me over the hump and get that championship.

We'll go back to a 10pm eastern deadline tomorrow for the first half of the season. Just as an FYI since I've been doing all of the off-season sims during the day. About to run spring training now.

I missed this. The file is up and you all did well in spite of it. But tomorrow we're back to the 8pm EST deadline, so no day sims for during the season, back to night. (I got my computer at home)
