Watching the tourney online
Are you really able to watch all hte games onlnine @ CSB.com? If so, how is the connection? Why the hell would I buy the package for $70 on Direct Tv when I can watch them free?

Yes you are, the quality is good. I would imagine people pay because they want to watch the games on their TV's. Plus bars pay for the package. |

For $70 you can watch it at home and be pretty certain to get all the necesary bits.
For free, if last year is any indication, you won't actually be able to watch anything. And even if you can, it will be like 180x120 resolution.

In the past years I've found it quite easy and reasonable quality catching the games I was interested in online.

I've used the online feed for a couple of years now. I actually plugged my laptop into my monitor (52") at home and watched it there if the game that I wanted to watch wasn't on. It worked fine for me. With the new HD feed, I'm sure there will be a bit more lag on that. But they still have the standard def feed available, which has always worked smoothly for me. YMMV depending on how quick your internet connection is.

It used to be that if a game was playing on your local CBS feed, the game would be blacked out online for you. Not sure if they do that anymore

I've used the online feed a number of times over the past few years and have always been perfectly happy with it.
I mean, I would never rely on it for a game for *my* team but to make sure I can check out the closest/best games going if they aren't on my TV broadcast its always been great. |

LOL, I thought the $70 package was only with DirecTV. I used it the first year it was out. It was a disaster - nobody got to watch over the internet. I ended up calling and getting the tv package. Guess they have ironed out some bugs in the intervening years.

I am not sure what technology you guys have. But I find watching the games on my 50" HD television a bit more enjoyable than my 15" laptop. Same reason I subscribe to HBO when I could watch Real Time and Entrourage on youtube.

I checked out Amazon's download service the other day, and just clicking a movie started up one of their HD trailers in my browser. In order for Internet movie download services to suck me in, they need to avoid the same compression artifacts that have me ready to dump my cable movie channels, buy a Blu-Ray player, and join Netflix. I just can't imagine what a high-speed sporting event looks like on these download services...

Is there anyway to watch the broadcasts of the tournament at a later time from an online source?
