I decide not to use my option year for Ben Zobrist. He suffered a major injury and may be done. He would have gotten $7.5 million. I can't gamble that much on him. Plus, he wasn't performing like a $7.5 million player before the injury.

The Baltimore market drops to "below average". My budget will probably be less now.

John Smoltz and Randy Johnson join the Hall of Fame.

I trade 2B Brian Roberts to the Mets for MR Josh Spence (salary dump).

Time for Joe Mahoney to get a real contract. He gets $6.6 million a year for the next 5 years for a total of $33.25 million. He also gets a $850,000 bonus if he wins a hitting award, and $180,000 a year when he makes the all-star team.

2B Ryan "Scooter" Gennett wins a Golden Glove award.

I trade SP Gio Gonzalez to the LA Dodgers for 1B Jerry Sands (will be moved to the outfield).

I'm going to give SP Alex Sanbia a go in the majors. In 2014 at the AAA level, he was 11-3 with an ERA of 2.77, 1.16 WHIP, .237 OAVG. So far in 2015, he's 9-1, 3.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, .261 OAVG.

I'll give him 4 starts. If he doesn't show up, he'll be sent back down and I'll bring up Aaron Sanchez. He's been pitching better, but he's only 23 and I don't want to bring him up too soon. He's only had 5 games at the AAA level so far, but he's got the best star and attribute ratings.

I trade RF Mark Greene and LF Manuel Morales to the Tampa Bay Rays for SP Matt Moore and SP Jeremy Hellickson. The fans didn't exactly like it, but I have to make some major moves to get a few great starting pitchers.

I have the trade difficulty set to Hard. Even though it's a fair trade based on star ratings, Moore and Hellickson are proven pitchers while Morales and Greene have yet to prove themselves. *shrug*

I trade SP Yu Darvish to Colorado for C Wilin Rosario. Last year, Rosario batted .281 and had a SLG of .474. His problem is he strikes out a lot. I offered him a contract extension, but gave him less money in the first year than he makes now ($4 million - the contract extension off is about $3.7 million in year one, and then two years of ~$7 million.) So he has two years to make me think he's worth $7 million.

That move did free up $6 million and I am now $5 million under budget.

I trade CF Travis Witherspoon and 3B Chase d'Arnaud to Tampa Bay for 25 year old SS Hak-Ju Lee and 19 year old SS Ramon Escobar.

I trade C Travis d'Arnaud to Kansas City for CL/MR Rudy Brown.

Nice to see the team get off to a good start for a change. April's have been pretty depressing the last couple of seasons, always felt like you were behind the 8-ball right away.

Yeah, April has been brutal for me. Every year, I'd go through a rotation or two and just see ERAs of 9.50, 13.25, 19.90, etc. And then we'd always add .100 to our winning percentage a month or two later and then stay there for the rest of the year.

Same thing happened this year with the adding of .100 to our winning percentage, but we got off to a good enough start and I hope we can keep this thing going.

I send Soptic down to AAA and bring up SP Raudel Lazo. Lazo becomes a Spot Starter and SP Martin Perez is put #5 in the rotation.

Hellickson has been a bit of a disappointment. He was consistently good with Tampa Bay, but he comes here and his WHIP jumps up 0.4 (1.11 to 1.54), OAVG goes from .233 to .291, BABIP goes from .277 to .313. And his ERA, which was always below 4.00 (3.58 in 2013, 3.82 in 2014, 3.43 in 2015), is now close to 5.00 (4.94).

He's going to cost close to $9 million next year.

Rob Wynn did great for us in place of Ricardo Engeitado. He had 27 hits on 78 AB, 8 HR, .346 AVG, .400 OBP, .756 SLG, 1.156 OPS

But....he's not eligible to play in the playoffs. So I'm losing a ton of offensive production out of the DH position that has been there all regular season. Now who does Girardi put in at DH? Jaff Decker, who is batting .238, .339 OBP, .397 SLG.

So....finally get to the playoffs and have to do it without my 2nd best hitter, or the guy who replaced him who ended up being arguably my 2nd best hitter.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Milwaukee Brewers

There's no debate that their 3 best pitchers are better than my 3 best pitchers. They have Justin Verlander, Jake Stewart and Zack Greinke. I do think I have the edge on them in bullpen pitching, though.

And there's no debate that my lineup beats the crap out of their lineup. My team has scored 878 runs, batted .269, On-Base PCT of .346 and hit 227 home runs. They scored 774 runs, batted .254, OBP of .331 and hit 159 home runes.

But....you know what they say about who wins championships....

Hellickson got better as the season went on, but he became lights out during the post season. And I have no idea what the hell got into Jaff Decker. Decker also hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 10th in Game 2 to get us that win. The guy just went nuts. 5 of his 7 post season home runs happened during the World Series. He hit a HR in every game except Game 5.

Edit: Looked up the record for most HRs in a World Series. Jaff Decker ties the record set by Reggie Jackson and Chase Utley and did it in the same number of games (6).

1B Joe Mahoney wins the AL Triple Crown. He led the league in batting average (.332), RBI (121) and HR (47).

The National League rips the heart out of many fans and are going to start using the DH rule. So now both leagues will use a DH in their lineup.

I looked all over to find a trade deal to get a top pitcher on the team, but no one is biting. Not that I'd let him go, but they wouldn't even bite at a Joe Mahoney + others deal for a top ace.

If one or two of my big time offensive producers were old, I would easily give them up for a younger hot pitcher, but all my guys are young, or at least in their prime years. Mahoney is 30, Sands is 29, Flaherty is 30, Peret is 26, Engeitado is 24, Delmonico is 24.

The several month break I took made me forget that Sands was in the last year of his deal. I tried to renegotiate, but the guy thought he was going to hit the Powerball or something. I trade him and that the fans are mad. But, he was my most expensive player (by a few million) and he wanted a lot more. I couldn't make a deal, I didn't want to risk arbitration. I traded him for a CF prospect.

I knew the moment I hit complete trade that I regretted it. Can't take it back now (game saved on me! Oops.) But, it does free up a lot of money so I can go after someone in FA at the end of the year. Should have just kept him and let him go at the end of the year.....ugh. Oh well.

sabotai General Manager Join Date: Oct 2000 Location: The Satellite of Love	I trade SP Gio Gonzalez to the LA Dodgers for 1B Jerry Sands (will be moved to the outfield). I'm going to give SP Alex Sanbia a go in the majors. In 2014 at the AAA level, he was 11-3 with an ERA of 2.77, 1.16 WHIP, .237 OAVG. So far in 2015, he's 9-1, 3.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, .261 OAVG. I'll give him 4 starts. If he doesn't show up, he'll be sent back down and I'll bring up Aaron Sanchez. He's been pitching better, but he's only 23 and I don't want to bring him up too soon. And I have no idea what the hell got into Jaff Decker. Decker also hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 10th in Game 2 to get us that win. The guy just went nuts. 5 of his 7 post season home runs happened during the World Series. He hit a HR in every game except Game 5. Edit: Looked up the record for most HRs in a World Series. Salary Arbitration SS Ryan Flaherty gets $3.8 million Travis d'Arnaud gets $756,000 Vinnie Pestano gets $4.6 million Jerry Sands gets $8.75 million (arb. sided with him) Phillippe Aumont gets $750,000 Nolan Arenado gets $750,000 Jaff Decker gets $3.6 million I was going to cut Decker loose, but he really stepped up and performed this past year. At least, he improved a lot. So, I'll give him the money and hope he gets better. After arbitration, and the trade I made for the two pitchers, I have no room to make any moves during free agency. My overall budget is $104 million. 29th in the league. The Padres are the only team with a smaller budget than me.

His problem is he strikes out a lot. I offered him a contract extension, but gave him less money in the first year than he makes now ($4 million - the contract extension off is about $3.7 million in year one, and then two years of ~$7 million.) So he has two years to make me think he's worth $7 million. That move did free up $6 million and I am now $5 million under budget. I trade CF Travis Witherspoon and 3B Chase d'Arnaud to Tampa Bay for 25 year old SS Hak-Ju Lee and 19 year old SS Ramon Escobar. I trade C Travis d'Arnaud to Kansas City for CL/MR Rudy Brown. I trade C Brian Ward and minor leaguer 1B Matthew Duran to Tampa Bay for CF Mikie Mahtook and 21 year old prospect RF Sixto Trevino. Every year, I'd go through a rotation or two and just see ERAs of 9.50, 13.25, 19.90, etc. And then we'd always add .100 to our winning percentage a month or two later and then stay there for the rest of the year. Same thing happened this year with the adding of .100 to our winning percentage, but we got off to a good enough start and I hope we can keep this thing going. I send Soptic down to AAA and bring up SP Raudel Lazo. Lazo becomes a Spot Starter and SP Martin Perez is put #5 in the rotation.

He had 27 hits on 78 AB, 8 HR, .346 AVG, .400 OBP, .756 SLG, 1.156 OPS But....he's not eligible to play in the playoffs. So I'm losing a ton of offensive production out of the DH position that has been there all regular season. Now who does Girardi put in at DH? Jaff Decker, who is batting .238, .339 OBP, .397 SLG. So....finally get to the playoffs and have to do it without my 2nd best hitter, or the guy who replaced him who ended up being arguably my 2nd best hitter.

They have Justin Verlander, Jake Stewart and Zack Greinke. I do think I have the edge on them in bullpen pitching, though. And there's no debate that my lineup beats the crap out of their lineup. My team has scored 878 runs, batted .269, On-Base PCT of .346 and hit 227 home runs. They scored 774 runs, batted .254, OBP of .331 and hit 159 home runes. But....you know what they say about who wins championships....
