Should we lift the ban on Cuba?

I mean... if nothing else for the Cuban cigars... but in general... is it time?

I think it was time 20 years ago. It's such a non issue.

Keep in place some sanctions for military stuff, certain high tech items, things like that that could prop up the regime but otherwise open it up.

We have far fewer restrictions on far worse regimes in the world. Continuing to blockade Cuba is complete silliness.

We're past it's usefulness, but which side wants to lose the Cuban-American vote, especially in Florida? It's more contested now than ever. Maybe the Castro regime resentment won't survive another generation, and then it'll be time.

If there was bipartisan support for this, you would think this would be the time to do a deal. You have a term limited president that won't have to go to Florida again. Get bipartisan house and senate support for it, and let the Florida lawmakers to vote against it so they don't get murdered in the next election. But it will never happen. We have no problems trading with Vietnam, Columbia, Panama, Iraq, Venezuela, China, etc but some how Cuba has maintained this 60 year ban that has done nothing to remove the Castros from power.

Feels like it makes too much sense. Would be nice for our economy as they'd rely heavily on us for imports.

It was Cuba's choice to be an asshat.
