New Flavors Thread

While that could probably justify it's own thread, I'm thinking a thread just for new flavors will work, too. So not just pop (yes, I'm from Michigan) but any new grocery product or new promo from fast food place. Basically anything we can consume that we weren't able to before.

SkyDog, could you please sift through the random thoughts thread and move all the posts related to new food and drink products over to this one? Thanks.

Here's my contribution for today:

A new limited-edition flavor of A&W Root Beer just leaked, and fans are beyond ready to get their hands on a bottle (or two).

About a week ago, someone got their hands on apparent product images of the soon-to-be-released soda—limited-edition A&W Ice Cream Sundae Root Beer—and shared them to the social media platform Reddit.

I'm excited, but concerned that this will just be a 50/50 mix of root beer and cream soda.

We had Coca Cola Oreos at the movies last week and they were surprisingly good. The top and creme are traditional Oreo and the bottom was somehow red and infused with Cola flavoring and a small amount of Pop Rocks. Pretty sweet. I think they have a crossover soda, as well, but I haven't seen it yet.

I want to try the Coke Oreo with ice cream. Feel like it would make a great float.

Tried it on its own and it's fine. Not something I'd go out of my way to drink but kind of an interesting dessert.

Oreo Coke is really good. Coke Oreos less good. Oreo Coke tastes like vanilla/creme Coke with a cookie aftertaste. It tastes like a cookie pop. I don't know if it's specifically an Oreo, but it succeeds in tasting like a cookie.

I don't recall if it's A&W or another root beer, but a creme soda version definitely exists. Curious how this would taste different.

Has anyone had this year's Voo-Dew flavor? Tastes to me like those old Strawberry Crush sodas.

I haven't had a Mountain Dew, zero or otherwise (I assume zero exists?), in 2 decades maybe? Not for me. Also, it seems like a drink specifically targeted to kids so that's probably another reason I don't even think of it as a drink I'd buy as an adult.

How dare you besmirch the nectar of the Gods! Diet Mountain Dew is my thing although I kind of grew up with it in schools so it probably stems from that. I do like trying their weird flavors although nothing beats the classic.

Before there was a reliable zero calorie version, it was nothing but gum rot soup. I dumped it pretty early on after college during one of my weight loss periods.

And again, it just seems they target teens with all of the flavors and amped up sugar water vibes. People here in KY drink it like water, which supports that vibe! I'm sure it's fine, but it's been so many years since I had it that I don't quite remember what it tastes like.

I think it might be a southern thing. Wasn't Mello Yello a big deal down south back in the day?

For what it's worth, I find the regular version too sugary. The Diet version is just perfect.

I've been on Diet Dew for so long that the original doesn't even hit right anymore.

My go-to soft drink of choice at home for many years now.

Mountain Dew is disgusting. Artificially flavored Mountain Dew sounds shameful.

Saw the Shirley Temple 7up at Kroger yesterday. Would have gotten it if it were available in a Zero version.

We still don't have it here. Our Kroger routinely does not get stuff like this. I wonder how it gets distributed.

Only if that's a rainbow sherbet-flavored lasagna.

I bought the Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry and the Canada Dry Fruit Splash Cherry ginger ale in a fit of festive mood yesterday. Sprite is OK, a hint of spice to it but not that different a flavor from regular Sprite. Haven't tried the ginger ale yet.

We have weird pop night at game night occasionally. Usually they are pop flavors that are disgusting. Like bacon

Not sure I really want to try it but am intrigued ...

The Kyoto Whopper uses Japanese-grown rice, but not in the way that we’re used to seeing. Whereas typical “rice burgers” use rice as substitutes for the bun, the Kyoto Whopper has a rice patty in addition to an all-beef one, sandwiched inside a sliced bread bun along with lettuce, tomato, and onion.
:
The Kyoto Whopper also makes use of an extensive mix of Japanese seasonings, utilizing four different kinds of dashi, the stock ordinarily used for Japanese soups. Bonito, shiitake mushroom, mackerel, and kombu (kelp) dashi all go into the Kyoto Whopper’s soy glaze, as do a quartet of traditional Japanese spices: benison togarashi chili pepper, ginger, sanho (a pepper-like spice with herbal and bitter notes), and chimpi (dried mandarin orange peel).
