F'in Best Buy
I pre-order LOTR:ROTK for $20 and $5 in "digital dollars." They are now offering the movie for $15 on their website and in store. Here is there policy:
Our pre-order price guarantee Pre-order any title at BestBuy.com, and if the Best Buy price — online or in-store — has dropped by the release date, you'll automatically be charged the lower price. They had yet to change the price, so I called their customer service. I was told that the order had already shipped, so they could no longer change the price. Now I either have to send the movie back to them when I get it, or return it in store, but I can't get an adjustment anywhere. WTF, you have a policy stated on your website saying I can get it adjusted. I don't preorder a movie just so I can return it and buy it again. I do it because it would make my life easier, so I won't have to enter your damn store. Is there anything I can do besides go to the store (20 minutes away) and complain there? Go to the store. I'd say it's worth bitching about.

Yeah, I'd go to the store. I love to bitch, espically if I have a reason ... nothing like ruining the guy/girl behind the counters day because the idiots on the other end of the phone pissed me off.

With the price of gas these days, and traffic, is it really worth your time to go up there to save 10 bucks? I dont preorder DVD's anymore cause release date you can nab almost anything for 15 bucks if you go to the right place.

Even without a reason, it's pretty satisfying. |

Well, I don't plan to bitch right off, just point out their policy, then bitch if they don't allow me to use their policy.
I'll be out that way on Saturday, so maybe I'll go then... if I get the movie by then. and just in case, i'm printing out all the relevant pages in case I can't get there by then, just so I can make sure they don't screw me with "well, its not $15 now, and we don't have any documentation crap." Thats happened to me at other stores. |

If that doesn't work, take a dump on the counter. It works wonders.

I do have rampant diarrhea today and some vomiting (only time I've ever wanted to not miss class), so maybe I'll go today. |

Be sure there are lots of other customers around when you fly off the handle. It's the most effective that way, and don't let them walk you off into a corner.

This tactic always made me laugh. It usually works but never did with me. When I worked in the video department I'd get a couple of people that wanted to bitch about late fees, usually the one's that were habitual problem customers. I'd just let them go bonkers for a minute (which of course cause the line to back up) then simply say "I can help who's next and start helping other's while the nutjob fumed." They didn't want to hear "no" but it wasn't going to change |

The best way to piss off asshole customers who feel like they need a power trip is to be sweet as sugar but still not give them anything. It pisses them off that they aren't getting what you want, and makes them doubly mad that they are not pissing you off at the same time

Have you guys ever seen those internet stories about bad customer service, and how someone who "is not taking it anymore" keeps pushing and pushing until the offending company looks so stupid that you wonder how they can function at all?
wignifty has one of these about Best Buy. You should ask him about it sometime. |

Sounds like the EA store. I'll never order another piece of software from that place again.. unless it's free.
You would think a company that big would at least have a phone number to call. Todd |

I ordered a game from the EA Store a while back and it was in stock. Like a week later it said it wasn't in stock, and I never got it. 4 months later, I get an email saying they won't get the game in stock again, so they will refund my charge. WTF

here's my (lengthy) Amazon story, just to balance stuff out...
where I work, we get these "rewards" credit cards from time to time. I had one with about $20 left that was close to expiring, and I also had an Amazon GC I'd been holding on to since Christmas. In all, I had $51 to spend, so spent a good deal of time picking out 2 games at Amazon that would get as close to that amount without going over. Found to, with free shipping, to total $49.98 - close enough. Well, I was wrong about the amount left on my card - it was less than that, so the order declined. No problem, I say, I'll just switch to another rewards card. Amazon fuck up #1 - the site, while allowing me to enter a new card, wont let me enter a card type (Mastercard, Visa), and, of course, wont let me enter a new card number without the type. I'm stuck. I set it aside for a while. The next day, the missing card type glitch is corrected, and I'm able to change the card on the order (I also order a GC for the amount left on the original card, just to burn that off). However, now (Amazon fuck up #2), the total on my order is completely screwed up - there's suddenly a shipping charge on there (free shipping), and the amount credited for the gift certificate is now wrong (too low) - I'm getting overcharged by $10. Except they can't get the order to go through, because I only had a certain amount available on that card. I've emailed them, but (Amazon fuck up #3) I've received no reply. Meanwhile, I receive an email from them about every 6 hours that my card is declining, and please fix the card. I can't cancel the order (Amazon fuck up #4), because it is "shipping soon"...the same status it's been in for 4 days now. So, until some asswipe responds to my email (still remember the time it took them 2 weeks to get back to me), my order remains forever in limbo.

Yeah, but their version was filmed in El Salvador with illegal child labor. The hobbits look better but the rest of the cast is really lacking...especially the death knights. |
