Should.

Yeah, I never thought of rock bands. That would be good. I was thinking of potential follow-ups of both Favourite TV Show and Favourite Movie: The Leftovers. Both would be based on nominations, with the latter being any movie that was not in this tournament (I'm contemplating maybe making it the IMDB Top 250, which would allow for the bottom "wildcard" entries that I had added in this tournament).

If you want to do a rock band one though, go ahead and I'll hold off for a while until that one is done.

DOLA: I think even a favourite video game tournament would be good as well. With the debate in the Jordan/LeBron thread, I think a favourite (or greatest?) athlete tournament could also be interesting, just for the head to head matchups.

First two were easy but no way I could vote for either Pulp or Princess, sad that they got this far. For the final pair, it's my all-time #1 vs #3, no way to pick one.

Is Raiders of the Lost Ark that good? Never seen any of the Indiana Jones films for some reason. Watched a couple last week with the lady, didn't really get into them like I hoped I would. Temple of Doom and Last Crusade were the ones we watched.

Temple of Doom is garbage (but still fun), Last Crusade is quite good. Raiders of the Lost Ark is phenomenal.

I consider Raiders the perfect movie, at least in terms of pacing. You'd probably agree....if only you spoke Hovitos.

In my opinion, Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best film in the Indy series by a significant margin. Lost Crusade is a clear second and is a very good but not great movie. Temple of Doom is watchable but well behind the other two.

EDIT: I should add, there is a generally strong consensus in the ranking of the Indy films and it goes in the order outlined above.

If someone were to say that Raiders was their favorite movie of all time, I'd respect/understand that. It isn't my all-time favorite, but I think that it is a movie that can be in that conversation.

If someone were to pick any other Indy movie and say it was their favorite of all time, I'd smile and nod, but think to myself that they need to see more movies.

Seems like list is now between your probably favorite, most memorable theater experience (empire and pulp for me) and the epic, totally re watchable godfather and Shaw.

A lot of it, imo, is that you had to have been there in 1980 when it came out. It was an insane phenomenon and was playing on various big screen theaters for over a year. I was already in college and when my buddies and I saw it the first week, I never had such an experience watching a movie as that. I ended up probably seeing it 8-10 times over the next two years. Most of you probably saw it later or where really young but imagine if you were in high school or college in 1980 and you would understand why I and others put this as #1 all time.

For the record, I put ToD in my bottom 5-10 all-time and thought Crusades was really good.

Did I take you to see Empire that first time? That, incidentally, was my first Star Wars experience since I didn't have any interest in seeing New Hope when it came out in 1977.

Also, if I got my timeline right, Raiders ran for 2 years, then it was Empire for a year and then ET. That's unheard of now where the top movie would be in the most theaters for only 1-3 weeks.

I rewatched some time ago Temple of Doom and it was not as bad as I remembered. The mine car chase is top notch and there were some fun moments throughout. That said, there is no comparison to the other two.

I think Indy is pretty much the inverse of the Matrix trilogy - one movie that is unfairly maligned because the other two are fantastic.

Meanwhile, the other two Matrix movies are crapped on almost too much because the original is so good.

I agree that Temple is better than it is given credit for, but the other two Matrix movies are crapped on because they suck, not because the first was great. Reloaded does have some memorable action scenes, but the rest of it is awful and Revolutions is just a complete mess.

I think everything after the first sucks balls, and I don't understand the love for the Last Crusade at all....but I still consider the original nearly perfect.

No, Temple is pretty terrible. Almost painfully racially out of touch as well (akin to Breakfast at Tiffany's).

I don't think Princess is anywhere near a good a film as Pulp. But I guess we need one happy film in there.

Temple certainly dragged in the middle but it still had some fantastic scenes.

Also Princess Bride is (in all likelihood) going to the final four? Inconceivable!

I don't think you know what that means...

There's a shot at my alltime 1 and 2 movies going head to head in the end (Bride vs Shawshank). Never thought that would be remotely possible when this started.

A lot of "Mularum, Mularum, KALI MA" with other kids pretending to pull my heart out of my chest. And all the "do you eat eyeballs" BS.

Even back then I tended to ignore racist comments. Maybe give a death stare while on my way.

If it's any consolation I was called Beatle Boy and Redcoat when I first immigrated from England (This was 1968-70 to put the Beatle Boy reference into a greater context)

Used to annoy the shit of me too, so I tried to speak like an American. Only realized after I lost the damn accent how much girls loved it!! I still owe some kids an ass kicking for that!
