Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 28-year-old Quentin Rich put together a solid offensive month for Brooklyn and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .421 with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

April's Republic League Batter of the Month trophy was claimed by shortstop Burt Cashman of the Hammersmith Hooligans.

Bujold Top CL Pitcher in April

Samuel Bujold has made fans throughout Front Office Offseason League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 4-0 record. No pitcher in the Continental League threw better in April, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 6 starts Bujold compiled a 1.81 ERA, putting up a 4-0 record, striking out 40 and tossing 44.2 innings.


Hammersmith's Garza Top Pitcher in April

Héctor Garza took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award for April.

The 26-year-old Hooligans starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 6-0 won-lost record in 6 starts. This month he fanned 41 batters in 43 innings and compiled a 2.93 ERA.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month

Bob Fallon is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the Noblesville hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .319 average with 23 hits, 4 home runs and 16 RBIs.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month

Elliott Marsh's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Hartford right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .307 with 6 doubles, no triples and 5 home runs. Marsh also scored 13 times and drove in 21 runs.

Fans, friends and family were cheering today when John Somers received May's Continental League Batter of the Month Award.

Somers stung the ball all month, posting a .309 batting average with 8 home runs, 17 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

For the season Somers has hit .311 with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs. He has played in 56 games and scored 40 times.


Martínez Wins Best Bat Trophy in May

Tomás Martínez battered Republic League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Martínez told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 28 games, Martínez hit .341 with 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

For the season Martínez is batting .281 with 64 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 35 times and batted in 36.

Assassins Bujold Named CL's Best Pitcher

Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Samuel Bujold of the Apex Assassins. He captured the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in May.

Bujold started 6 games, threw 46.1 innings, yielded 34 hits and logged a 6-0 record. He put down 42 batters on strikes, walked 3 and compiled a 1.94 ERA. Opposing teams batted .202 against him.

Bujold has gone 10-0 this season with an ERA of 1.88 and 82 strikeouts in 91 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .183 against him.


Republic League Premier Pitcher is Garza

May's #1 hurler was Héctor Garza of Hammersmith. He gunned down Republic League hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Hooligans star piled up 4 wins and no losses to take the honor.

The 26-year-old Garza added 33 strikeouts in 36.2 innings and 3 walks to his season record and compiled a 2.21 ERA. Other clubs hit .229 against him.

His record for the year is 10-0 in 11 starts and Garza has a 2.60 ERA.

Landry Wins CL Rookie Award

Youngster Michel Landry emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Brooklyn deserved the honor, batting .312 with 2 home runs and 11 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Landry enjoy the limelight.

On the season, Landry is batting .306 with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs. He has played in 56 games.


May Sensation RL's Best Rookie

Guillermo Quintero earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Tokyo second baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Quintero hit .324 with 4 home runs, 16 RBIs and 18 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

So far this season Quintero is batting .295 with 6 home runs.

Beach balls were coming in at Kevin Curtis in June and he banged, bashed and blasted them all over the park, putting up a .372 batting average and hauling in the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 26-year-old Brooklyn center fielder collected 42 hits last month in 26 games. He put up 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Curtis also drew 5 walks and compiled a .395 on-base percentage.

On the heels of a very productive June, Bryant Wilson received Republic League Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested center fielder hit .327 for the Toronto Marlboros and racked up 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

In 81 games this season Wilson has batted at a .286 pace with 91 hits and 15 home runs.

Santos Cops #1 Pitcher Award in June

Paco Santos took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors in June. After all these years playing ball, the 35-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 5-0 for Noblesville last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 1.86 ERA in his 5 starts, tossing 38.2 innings and striking out 20.

This season-to-date, Santos has fashioned a 10-4 mark and 4.05 ERA in 95.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .269 against him and he has logged 44 strikeouts.


Román Nets RL #1 Pitcher Award

Juan Román of Colorado had an award-winning June as he took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Román's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in June except for Juan."

Román was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 4-0 record in 5 starts. He struck out 8 batters in 33.1 innings and kept opponents to a .242 batting average.

This season Román has compiled a 6-7 record with a 5.07 ERA in 16 starts.

June's Best Rookie Named by CL

A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Matt Evans just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for June.

Over the past month the 24-year-old left fielder for Baltimore hit .307 with 23 hits, 7 home runs and 16 runs batted in. He also logged 6 walks and compiled a .395 on-base percentage.

This year Evans has hit at a .290 clip with 36 RBIs, 12 home runs and 32 runs scored.

Prospective free agents love to have hot streaks and Ramón Hernández is no exception. The Baltimore left fielder capped off a fine month by hauling in Batter of the Month honors in the Continental League.

In July Hernández hit .351 with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

This season in 107 games, Hernández has hit at a .310 clip with 128 hits, 21 home runs, 70 RBIs and 59 runs scored.


RL's Best Batter Announced

In the month of July Trevor Montalbetti thumped the ball with authority, earning Republic League Batter of the Month honors in the process.

Colorado 's catcher hit .368 with 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 12 runs.

So far this year, Montalbetti is batting .290 with 17 home runs and 62 RBIs.

Kato Nabs CL #1 Pitcher Award

Ryosei Kato will be bringing July's Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Halifax. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Kato started 5 games, going 4-0 with 26 strikeouts in 35 innings as he compiled his 2.06 ERA.

This season Kato has compiled a 12-3 mark with a 3.08 ERA.


Longos Earns RL's Best Pitcher Honor

The Republic League scribes have announced July's Pitcher of the Month and have given the award to Felipe Longos of Hartford. He was one tough cookie on the mound last month with a fine 4-0 mark to prove it.

The Hartford star made 5 starts with a 1.69 ERA and surrendered 27 hits in 37.1 innings. He struck out 23 and walked 5.

On the season Longos has a 11-6 record with a 3.12 ERA.

Michel Landry of the Brooklyn Brownstones has been chosen the top Rookie in the Continental League.

Free agent-to-be Ramón Hernández has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Continental League Batter of the Month.

In August, the 25-year-old Baltimore left fielder hit .394 with 5 home runs and 21 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

For the year Hernández has hit .327 with 26 home runs, 91 RBIs and scored 78 runs.

Veteran Roberto Manuel put together quite a successful stretch in August for the Baltimore Gothams, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Manuel racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.01 ERA over 40.1 innings and striking out 24.

This year Manuel has worked 175.1 innings with 130 strikeouts en route to a 15-6 record and a 2.93 ERA.


Román Is August's Best RL Hurler

In August, when the name of Juan Román appeared on the Colorado lineup card it was a virtual lock on a victory. He started 6 times and chalked up 5 wins and 1 loss. With those stats it was a also a virtual lock that he would be named the Republic League Pitcher of the Month.
