TCY: Solecismic 8 alternative conferences
This was a thread on the old board that I though should be transferred over here. Credit goes to devaneyfan for all conferences, unless otherwise noted.

For the NC & SC conferences, please don't forget D1-AA Top-25 ranked Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.

I want to include the IVY league but I'm a bit confused.
I see the coordinates and stuff but does that just mean I replace that team with one of the original NY teams? What about the avg temps of the new cities etc? This looks a bit ghetto, I hope I'm wrong. |

What you need to do is edit each of the New York SCE-8 cities, change the name & coordinates to the suggested ones for the Ivy League, etc. So you pretty much have it right.

I remember this from a long time ago. I used it to form my own conference around WV - WVState, Liberty, CMU, Marietta, Kenyatta, Shepherd, JMU and Fairmont State.

Very nice post! I've been wanting to replace the Big Sky for awhile now, but didn't like how the renamed teams were randomly located in like, Idaho...

How do you get the college teams made and put into the new conference you made?

Look 3 posts up what Celeval wrote, as an example to create the Ivy League. First start a new game with the Solecismic 8 in NY state, then: Quote:

It's definitely a jury-rigged approach, but it's pretty sweet to see an actual college conference in TCY rather than a bunch of random Cities.

Here is a Montana conference. This is one of my favorite ones to run and play in. There are some colorful names, it's challenging, and I was surprised that there were enough 4 year universities in Montana. Also, this is a very easy one to set up:
You can do this by only editing longitude/latitude for one of the cities. For the rest just change the names... Billings - Rocky Mountain College or Montana State Billings (I usually like to use Rocky Mountain because I love the name.) Bozeman - Montana State Butte - Montana Tech Great Falls - Great Falls (I like this name even more) Havre - Montana State Northern Helena - Montana Kalispell - Western Montana and change the Lat/Lon to 45.11 112.87 Missoula - Carroll College Another option is: Salish Kootenai - Pablo, MT 47.60 114.11

How do you change the college names (in Solecismic 8)?
I have tried yet cannot figure this one out.
Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't think you could change the Sol-8 schools names.
I looked and can't see where to change their names like other schools. Am I missing something. |

My guess is you would have to change the cities.

In changing the cities I would still end up with the school name (not the one I would want) but a real location for say an Ivy league school?
I will look at it tonight. Last edited by Gallifrey : 01-14-2005 at 04:31 PM. |

In fact, West Virginia is so oddly shaped that it's Lat and Long are pretty big for a state, so you can add in stuff deep into VA like Liberty, almost all of western PA like Pittsburgh schools, the easternish chunk of Cleveland including the Cleveland area nd loads more. You can have everything from Youngstown State to Liberty to Duquesne to Indiana U at Penn, to Morehead State in KY, Frostburg State in MD and more, as well as WV teams. I find it to be a great home base for the SOL8 for multiple runs in TCY.

It's not listed, but since I lived here in Maryland, I think you could do it. Only Navy and MD are in the game, but you could add in schools like Frostburg State, Morgan State, Towson in Batlmore, UMBC (give it a football team, why not), and more. You could also use DC and North VA all the way down to Harrisonburg as they are in the range of schools from how far down the peninsula Maryland goes. Georgetown, who's football team is in the Div1AA. Also, all of Delaware is in range too. You also get two counties in the corner of New Jersey, and if you wanted to push U. Penn or Villanova about 20 miles away into Jersey, you could grab them too.
These are just a few of the Div1AA that are in the area, no DIV2 ones listed. Possibles Morgan State -Div 1-aa, Baltimore, MD Towson U, Div-1AA, Towson, MD (see below for UMBC) Mount St. Mary's Div 1-AA, Emmitsburg, MD - EDIT looks like they cancelled their football program. Georgetown, Div1-AA, DC Howard, Div 1-AA, DC Univ of Delaware, Div-1AA, Newark, DE Delaware State, Div-1AA, Dover, DE James Madison U, 1-AA, Harrisonburg, VA Fantasy - UMBC (Why not give it a football team?) Catonsville (Next to Baltimore so you could give it the same stats) There are also Div 2 schools like Frostburg State and Bowie State around too. Note that Morgan State, Delaware State, and Howard are all three HBCUs and would offer interesting stories. (As was my own WV State I ran twice in TCYs set in WV)

Since this was made, these teams entered the DIV-A1 FBS. VA Liberty Old Dominion NC Appalachian State SC Coastal Carolina MA UMass-Amherst KY Western KY AL South Alabama GA Georgia State Georgia Southern TX Texas State U.Texas – San Antonio FL Florida Atlantic Florida International That’s a lot of new schools!
