With the growth in popularity of MMA in the latter half of 1996, all four of the other major MMA companies expanded their rosters with only two fighters being released among them. British Cage Fighting caught up to Women's Extreme Fighting Federation in terms of popularity in 1996, and most people think BCF has passed WEFF.

World Popularity Ranking
1 ALPHA-1 (Japan)
2 GAMMA (America)
3 BCF (United Kingdom)
3 WEFF (Canada)
5 OMEGA (Asia)

On Monday, Week 4, July 1996, BCF's heavyweight Graham Goodbody (2-0) was hired by ALPHA-1 to an exclusive deal. While in BCF, he knocked out Kevin Portman in December 1995 and followed that with a technical knock out of Bob Dozier in April 1996. Both matches were rated as duds. Goodbody left BCF on Monday, Week 4, August 1996 after the mandatory one month wait for a fighter that is signed to an exclusive deal. He has yet to appear on a fight card for ALPHA-1.

On Friday, Week 1, December 1996, lightweight Richie Stiller (0-3) was released by GAMMA. He lost all three of his matches in 1996. In January, Darren Southall beat him by split decision, Beau Gorshin earned a T.K.O. against him in April, and Duane Weatherly recorded a win by unanimous decision in October. On Tuesday, Week 3, December 1996, he was hired by ALPHA-1.

On Saturday, Week 1, December 1996, middleweight Travis Jones (7-9) was released by BCF. He lost all three of his matches in 1996. Uwe Maier beat him by unanimous decision in February, Davis Spyrou won by submission in August, and Dennis Gallagher took a split decision in September. He is currently still unemployed.

Jeff Carlton ($50,000) beat Jean-Pierre Richelleau ($3,000) by T.K.O. in 4:56 of round 3 to retain the ALPHA-1 Heavyweight title. (4 stars)

The announced attendance was 3,250. The fighters earned a total of $143,100.

Scott Gillespie is the only current fighter employed by three companies. Besides ALPHA-1, he is under contract with both BCF and my OMEGA company. I haven't used him since the OMEGA 1 fight card where he lost against Luke Hilton. My current plan is to have him next fight against Jamie Hewitt. It was a match I looked at adding to the upcoming OMEGA 7 card, but he had already been schedule to fight on the above card. Glad to see him pick up the win.

ALPHA-1 just offered Scott Gillespie a new exclusive contract, which he signed, so he has only 28 days left with both BCF and OMEGA. Which means I won't be using him in that time. I guess ALPHA-1 liked what they saw of him in the match on their last fight card. This won't change my lightweight division plans very much, as I already know that #1 Marko Prochazka (12-2) will be taking on #2 Luke Hilton (6-1) in the future to determine my very first OMEGA Lightweight Champion.

OMEGA 7 (Eastern Asia)

Middleweight Match
Lachlan Bowen (1-1) vs. Tuck Durdell (0-1)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground, but Durdell is the better athlete.
Blurcat's Prediction: Lachlan Bowen via T.K.O.

Round 1
Bowen hits some tentative punches, then comes in fast and forces Durdell to back up against the ropes, where they clinch. Bowen hits a nice body shot, but takes two short punches to the side of the head in return. Durdell tries a trip, but it doesn't go anywhere. They separate, with Bowen having to stay sharp to avoid a scorching right hand from Durdell. Durdell hits a low kick, then moves in for a jab. Bowen saw it coming and unloads with an enormous punch to the jaw. Durdell goes down immediately, he has been knocked clean out by the power of Bowen. Bowen wins via 1st round knock out with the official time being 4:55.

Lachlan Bowen ($200) beat Tuck Durdell ($100) by Knock Out in 4:55 of round 1. (1 star)

Lightweight Match
#5 Indriyanto Setyo Nugroho (12-14) vs. #3 Taufik Wijaya (32-17-2)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground.
Blurcat's Prediction: Taufik Wijaya via T.K.O.

Round 1
Nugroho throws the first punch of the round, a high searching jab that didn't carry a great deal of threat with it. Wijaya throws a one-two combination in return, neither connecting, then steps in and delivers a hard kick to the outside of the thigh. Nugroho steps back, throwing a right hand as he does to buy himself space. They circle, then move in again to exchange strikes, neither fighter getting a clear advantage. They come together again and the same result. It has become something of a stalemate at the moment. They come together to exchange strikes for the third time, and this time they wind up in a clinch. Wijaya hits a knee to the ribs. A couple of shots to the back from Nugroho. They struggle all the way back, with Nugroho ending up backed up against the ropes. Wijaya hits another knee, but there wasn't much power behind it. Nugroho stomps downward onto his foot. Nugroho manages to reverse their positions, but that only lasts about thirty seconds before it gets reversed once more. Wijaya gets an arm free and tries to throw a big shot to the cheek, Nugroho ducks under it and gets the arm back under control. The referee finally breaks them up, and we're back to where we started. Nugroho tries a high kick to start, but Wijaya saw it coming and easily avoids it. They come back together in the center, and it's Wijaya who gets the first sustained attack of the round, hitting two hard body shots and a jab that caught Nugroho on the nose. Nugroho hits a straight right, enough to stop Wijaya from following up any further. The time expires with them standing. Not a great round for either of them or the crowd, it was very scrappy. End of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Wijaya by 10-9.

Round 2
Tentative start to the round, the fighters are circling. Wijaya throws out a couple of range-finding jabs, but they aren't anything that will trouble Nugroho. Kick to the thigh from Nugroho, but it lacked power. Wijaya looks to be working an angle. The two fighters come together in the center. Wijaya leads with a left, but Nugroho easily avoids it and comes in close to throw some body shots. It all gets a bit scrappy, but it ends with Nugroho falling to the ground. Replays show that Wijaya did catch him with a jab, but it clearly did very little damage, Nugroho had already stumbled while taking a step backward. Regardless of how it happened though, Nugroho is down, and Wijaya is quick to rush in to capitalise. Wijaya presses the advantage and starts wailing away, although most of the punches aren't landing very well. A few are though, and Nugroho can't do much more than cover up. An elbow finds its way through, and looked like it landed on the bridge of the nose. Big right hand from Wijaya, who is expending a lot of energy on this attack. Nugroho tries to grab a guillotine, but can't get it. Left hand, connects, from Wijaya. That landed hard on the chin, and that convinces the referee to get in and stop the match. A controversial decision. The official time of the TKO is 1:36 of round 2.

Taufik Wijaya ($5,300) beat Indriyanto Setyo Nugroho ($300) by T.K.O. in 1:36 of round 2. (2 stars)

Middleweight Match
#1 Dennis Gallagher (6-1) vs. #4 Thorbjorn Rekdal (4-1-1)
Rekdal has the advantage while standing and while on the ground, but Gallagher has the superior conditioning.
Blurcat's Prediction: Thorbjorn Rekdal via decision.

Round 1
Rekdal isn't hanging around, right from the start Gallagher is forced onto the back foot by four hard shots, although none of them get through the gloves. Gallagher circles, steps in, then unloads a combination of punches, but Rekdal weaves out of the way and scores with a beauty of a right hand, glancing above the right eye. That was some lovely counter punching from Rekdal, the timing had to be perfect and it was. Gallagher is looking a bit frustrated, and uncorks a ragged-looking uppercut that missed by several inches. Rekdal really should have taken advantage of that mistake, Gallagher was wide open for a moment there. Rekdal hits a high kick, catching Gallagher on the shoulder. Jab from Gallagher finds the mark, but it didn't have much power behind it as he was leaning backward too much. Rekdal fires off a couple of straight punches in response, but only finds gloves. They clinch, and the fight enters a lull. Gallagher scores with a knee from the clinch, it landed around the hip area of Rekdal, who responds with a couple of shots to the ribs. The time runs out with them still clinched though. The round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Rekdal.

Round 2
Gallagher leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Rekdal deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Rekdal uses a knee to the ribs before backing Gallagher up against the ropes. Right hand from Gallagher connects though, that was well timed. Rekdal breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Gallagher was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Rekdal sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Gallagher fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Rekdal pushes Gallagher up against the ropes in a clinch. Rekdal throws a knee, then a couple of short punches to the side of the head. Gallagher pushes him away and steps in to score with an uppercut. Rekdal took it flush on the chin and is rocked! Another right hand drops Rekdal against the ropes, and Gallagher follows up by unloading with a barrage of punches. The referee gets in and pulls Gallagher away, he wins the match by TKO. The official time of the TKO is 3:46 of round 2.

Dennis Gallagher ($1,800) beat Thorbjorn Rekdal ($800) by T.K.O. in 3:46 of round 2. (2 stars)

Light Heavyweight Main Event
#1 Nicolai Mickiewicz (10-1) vs. #4 Kendall Tracey (5-0)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground.
Blurcat's Prediction: Nicolai Mickiewicz via T.K.O.

Round 1
The two fighters circle. A series of looping punches from Mickiewicz forces Tracey back up against the ropes, and he has to cover up to withstand the three strikes that follow. No real damage caused, but Mickiewicz is aggressively chasing this match. A hook finds the body and Tracey clinches. They almost lose their balance as they jockey for position, Tracey gets in a couple of knees when they regain their footing. Mickiewicz seems to be trying to break the clinch, it's Tracey who is holding it tight, perhaps hoping to calm the energetic start that Mickiewicz had. The referee finally does break them up, after nearly a full minute of inactivity. Tracey seems to be growing in confidence over the past thirty seconds. He has just come up with four good separate straight rights, although I don't think any of them did too much damage. He moves in for another, but takes a wicked kick from Mickiewicz. Tracey looks wobbly, and his hands drop. Mickiewicz sees it, and comes in with a solid right hand that drops Tracey to the mat. Mickiewicz follows up with more punches, and the referee has to get in there and stop it, Tracey was not defending himself properly. I think it's the kick that did the most damage, it seemed to scramble his brains. Official time of the TKO is 3:29 of the first.

Nicolai Mickiewicz ($5,300) beat Kendall Tracey ($800) by T.K.O. in 3:29 of round 1. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 434 for an estimated live gate of $25,830. The fighters earned a total of $14,600. The fans went home happy having gotten their money's worth from the night's action. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

Thorbjorn Rekdal suffered a rib injury in his fight that will keep him sidelined for around 4 months. Nicolai Mickiewicz suffered a facial injury that will keep him out for about 6 months.

OMEGA 8 (Southern Asia)

Middle Heavyweight Match
Russell McPhee (3-1) vs. Mason Martin (0-1)
Martin has the advantage on the ground with his submissions.

Round 1
Flat start to the round, thirty seconds of circling without any actual contact. The fans begin to get a bit restless. McPhee is the first to try something, stringing together a couple of jabs and a low kick, but Martin blocked the first two and avoided the latter. A lunge from McPhee is meant to set up a punch, but it's clumsy and just leaves him off balance. Martin is quick to react, and gets a great shot to the side of the face in before McPhee can cover up. That landed above the left eye and has left an ugly red mark. No cut, but that will start to swell and could give McPhee some problems later on. McPhee moves in for a right hook, but takes a hard kick to the knee, then is forced to retreat so as not to get caught with the two right hands that follow. Martin is staying on it though, and glances three shots off the gloves of McPhee before they wind up in a clinch. That punch above the eye, or maybe the mistake that led to it, seems to have completely thrown McPhee off, since that moment he has been comprehensively out-struck and is now in danger of losing this round. They struggle in the clinch, neither fighter managing a great deal more than minor blows. McPhee goes for a trip, but Martin cleverly spins out of it and the two fighters are back to circling. Not a great round for purists, it has all been a bit disjointed, but that one shot from Martin may prove decisive. As the round comes to an end, they wind up back in another clinch, with nothing coming of it. The round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Martin.

Round 2
McPhee leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Martin deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Martin uses a knee to the ribs before backing McPhee up against the ropes. Right hand from McPhee connects though, that was well timed. Martin breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, McPhee was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Martin sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. McPhee fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. McPhee throws a ragged jab, missing by a mile as Martin simply ducks under and unloads a vicious hook from below. It catches McPhee square on the jaw, and he goes down! Martin mounts and starts firing off punches, rapid-fire. The referee waits to see if McPhee can recover, decides that he can't, and pulls Martin off. The match is over. Martin wins via TKO at 7:49 of the second round.

Mason Martin ($200) beat Russell McPhee ($200) by T.K.O. in 7:49 of round 2. (1 star)

Lightweight Match
Jamie Hewitt (1-1) vs. #4 Cory Brewer (8-5-1)
Brewer has a 5-inch height advantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Cory Brewer via T.K.O.

Round 1
Flat start to the round, thirty seconds of circling without any actual contact. The fans begin to get a bit restless. Hewitt is the first to try something, stringing together a couple of jabs and a low kick, but Brewer blocked the first two and avoided the latter. A lunge from Hewitt is meant to set up a punch, but it's clumsy and just leaves him off balance. Brewer is quick to react, and gets a great shot to the side of the face in before Hewitt can cover up. That landed above the left eye and has left an ugly red mark. No cut, but that will start to swell and could give Hewitt some problems later on. Hewitt moves in for a right hook, but takes a hard kick to the knee, then is forced to retreat so as not to get caught with the two right hands that follow. Brewer is staying on it though, and glances three shots off the gloves of Hewitt before they wind up in a clinch. That punch above the eye, or maybe the mistake that led to it, seems to have completely thrown Hewitt off, since that moment he has been comprehensively out-struck and is now in danger of losing this round. They struggle in the clinch, neither fighter managing a great deal more than minor blows. Hewitt goes for a trip, but Brewer cleverly spins out of it and the two fighters are back to circling. Not a great round for purists, it has all been a bit disjointed, but that one shot from Brewer may prove decisive. As the round comes to an end, they wind up back in another clinch, with nothing coming of it. The first round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Brewer.

Round 2
Hewitt leads with a right hand, then delivers a brutal uppercut, Brewer had to step back quickly to avoid getting caught. He winds up back against the ropes, and Hewitt doesn't relent, moving in fast to unload with a series of jabs. Brewer got some of his own in, but the upper hand is definitely with Hewitt. Vicious right hand! Out of nowhere, it caught Brewer flush in the face, and he slumps down against the ropes. Hewitt follows up with more punches, and the referee dives in to break it up. It's all over. Brewer wasn't knocked out, but that one punch was a beauty, and it stopped him getting any sort of defence together to stop the following punches. The official time of the TKO is 0:45 of round 2.

Jamie Hewitt ($400) beat Cory Brewer ($2,500) by T.K.O. in 0:45 of round 2. (1 star)

Light Heavyweight Match
#4 Petey Mack (6-2) vs. #7 Jemaine McKenzie (7-3)
Mack has the advantage while standing and while on the ground.
Blurcat's Prediction: Petey Mack via decision.

Round 1
Mack works an angle and comes in from the side of McKenzie, getting two good jabs in before a ragged left misses by quite a margin. McKenzie hits a low kick to back Mack against the ropes, then works the body with a series of short punches. Mack fights out and the action returns to the center. The two fighters come together in the center. Mack leads with a left, but McKenzie easily avoids it and comes in close to throw some body shots. It all gets a bit scrappy, but it ends with McKenzie falling to the ground. Replays show that Mack did catch him with a jab, but it clearly did very little damage, McKenzie had already stumbled while taking a step backward. Regardless of how it happened though, McKenzie is down, and Mack is quick to rush in to capitalise. Mack drills McKenzie with a right hand, that was an absolutely monster hit, right on the button. McKenzie's head snaps back violently. Another two punches hit before the referee can get in there and pull him off. Replays show that McKenzie was out cold from the right hand, it's a good job the referee got in there quickly to stop further damage. The official time is 2:41.

Petey Mack ($5,300) beat Jemaine McKenzie ($1,000) by Knock Out in 2:41 of round 1. (2 stars)

Middle Heavyweight Main Event
#1 Mark Bicknell (10-3) vs. Derek South (2-0)
South has the advantage while standing with his strikes.
Blurcat's Prediction: Derek South via T.K.O.

Round 1
Bicknell hits the first punch of the round, scoring with a jab to the cheek. South throws a left hook in response, but it's well wide of the mark. Bicknell steps in and hits a low kick. South ignores it and shoots in for a takedown. Bicknell saw it coming though, and defends it brilliantly, sprawling at first, then pushing South face-down to the ground so that he can take his back. South turtles up. Bicknell hits a couple of hard shots to the body, but can't stop South working his way up and turning over, pulling guard. South has the guard held very high. Bicknell throws a big right hand, but almost puts himself right into a triangle as a result, and he is forced to fight free. South throws a punch and it lands right above the nose. Bicknell throws four massive punches as a response, threatening to try and knock South right through the canvas, South is forced to simply cover up and try to survive. Bicknell is controlling the round from this position, although it has to be said that he hasn't yet truly looked like he can stop the match from here. South moves to butterfly guard and then tries to scramble back up, but Bicknell stops that by throwing another set of big punches, forcing South to go back to the full guard. The round ends with them still like that, with Bicknell having totally controlled the round from the guard. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Bicknell.

Round 2
Slow start; nearly a full minute of circling, occasional fakes, and long-range jabs. Neither fighter is creating much. South works an angle, but takes a low kick to the shin when he advances. They clinch, and end up with Bicknell backed up against the ropes. South gets a couple of right hands to the body, but his attempts at knee strikes are deflected by Bicknell, who uses his legs well to defend. South pulls free and takes a step back, then powers in a right hand. Bicknell gets out the way, ducks under a second right hand, and backs up to the center. South follows, and we're back to circling. Uninspiring action so far, they've both been fairly devoid of inspiration. South hits a couple of right hands, both hitting gloves, then a left hand to the body that connected. That was the best shot of the round so far. Bicknell tags him with a flicked jab to the cheek, but it had virtually no power on it. Bicknell leans in to a looping left, but it puts him off balance and it's only at the last second that he gets his chin out of the way of a vicious right cross that comes back. If that had hit, we may have had a knock out. Time runs out with them standing, circling again. The round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for South.

Round 3
Exchange of strikes to start. South suddenly shoots in and gets a takedown, ending up in guard. Bicknell keeps the guard high. South half-stands and throws a big right hand, narrowly missing the mark. Another punch connects, but South leans into it too much and Bicknell brings his legs up and closes them around the arm. It's South now on the defensive, trying to get out of the armbar attempt. He gets in close to stop any pressure being applied, but that allows Bicknell to sweep him from that position. A scramble for position ends with the situation being completely reversed, with Bicknell on top in South's guard. Bicknell tries to work free from the guard, but can't. South reaches up to try and bring Bicknell down into a clinch, but the attempt gets swatted away. Bicknell fires off a couple of punches, leaning forward to get some leverage, and South is forced to cover up. Bicknell switches and starts firing off some rapid-fire shots to the chest, South deals with it by pulling the guard tighter and punching upward. Bicknell looks like he is happy to sit there and throw punches at his leisure, with no real effort to pass guard. South occasionally tries to roll his hips to get free, but it may be that he has realised that this round is beyond saving, and is just making sure that he doesn't put himself into a position to be knocked out or submitted by trying to escape. Indeed, time ticks away with nothing breaking the pattern of occasional strikes and defensive positioning. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Bicknell. The official scores are in; two judges give 29-28, the other 30-27, all for Mark Bicknell.

Mark Bicknell ($3,500) beat Derek South ($500) by Unanimous Decision in 10:00 of round 3. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 151 for an estimated live gate of $8,960. The fighters earned a total of $13,600. The general feeling amongst the fans was that the show was a good one. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

OMEGA 9 (Eastern Asia)

Light Heavyweight Match
#5 Jerry Bogdonovich (8-7) vs. #3 Curt Kitson (11-4)
Kitson has a 5-inch height advantage. Bogdonovich is at a physical disadvantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Curt Kitson via knock out.

Round 1
The round begins, and it is Bogdonovich who starts better, energetically bounding straight into action by throwing a three-punch combination and a scything leg kick. Kitson defended all four blows well, but is forced to be on the backfoot right from the word go. Bogdonovich works for an angle, coming in from the left hand side with a high right hand. Kitson ducks under it and nestles a stiff jab in the solar plexus. It doesn't seem to slow Bogdonovich down much though, as he swiftly turns and hits a crisp left to the side of the head, followed almost instantly by a mid-level kick that smacks above the hip of Kitson. Interesting first minute of action, Bogdonovich is looking particularly sharp. Kitson tries to turn the momentum by advancing quickly and driving Bogdonovich back against the ropes with a series of jabs and hooks, and they end up clinched. Kitson tries a knee from that position, but it is blocked. Bogdonovich scores with two sharp blows to the ribs, and then they break away from each other. Kitson looks to be working an angle. They square up to each other in the center. Bogdonovich throws a head fake and comes in from low down to hit a rising shot that catches Kitson on the side of the head. Kitson got a shot in too though, although it hit the shoulder rather than the head. Time is running down; Bogdonovich has probably done enough to win the round, but it has turned quite scrappy since the clinch against the ropes, both will probably be slightly unhappy with that. Kitson tries a late surge, coming in hard and fast with a leading left, but Bogdonovich defends it well and scores the only meaningful shot of the exchange with a crisp left hand. The first round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Bogdonovich.

Round 2
Right hand from Kitson was thrown with power, but bounced off the gloves of Bogdonovich. Kitson follows up by coming in close, but Bogdonovich is ready with a straight right hand that glances off the side of the head. They are circling, then come in close. Both fighters are tentatively looking for the chance to strike. Bogdonovich is the first to go for it, throwing a three-punch combination. Kitson covered up well, taking very little damage. Bogdonovich goes to throw a bomb, but gets clipped with a right hand before it can connect. He felt that. Kitson steps in and throws a bomb of his own, and it crunches into the side of the cheek of Bogdonovich, who goes down! Replays show the shock wave passing through his entire body as that powerful punch connected. What a strike! Kitson wins this by a brutally clean knock out. Kitson wins via 2nd round knock out with the official time being 1:19.

Curt Kitson ($5,300) beat Jerry Bogdonovich ($2,500) by Knock Out in 1:19 of round 2. (1 star)

Middleweight Match
#5 Will Kane (9-1) vs. #2 Davis Spyrou (13-5)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground.
Blurcat's Prediction: Davis Spyrou via submission.

Round 1
Kane starts fast, unleashing a bomb of a right hand, but Spyrou avoids it without too much trouble. Kane isn't disheartened though, swinging two more huge punches, with Spyrou getting out the way each time, but being forced all over the place. Kane finally backs off a little, breathing hard. That was quite a frantic start. Spyrou opts to use that, and comes in to throw some jabs. Kane is backed up against the ropes, covering up. Spyrou clinches. They struggle, and the fight enters a lull. Kane hits a knee strike to the hip. Spyrou slips one leg behind Kane and uses that as leverage for a big trip. Kane landed hard, with Spyrou on top. They're in half guard. It's to Kane's advantage that they're right next to the ropes, that is blocking Spyrou from attacking the left hand side of the body. Kane is forced into action to defend a kimura attempt. Spyrou tries to step over to mount, but Kane keeps his legs in position and ends up almost rolled into a ball. Spyrou fires some stiff punches to the back, then one to the face. He reaches through and tries to secure an armbar, but has to be careful as he is in danger of getting picked off with a counter armbar too. Kane doesn't appear to be trying that though, instead trying to shift his weight so that he can get back up. Spyrou isn't allowing it though, and gets a couple more punches in before settling back into half guard. Kane ties him up in a snug clinch. The action halts, and time expires before Spyrou can get free. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Spyrou by 10-9.

Round 2
Spyrou is forced onto the backfoot almost immediately, having to retreat to avoid a series of sharp jabs. He ends up with his back to the ropes, with Kane advancing. A sharp right misses, and Spyrou takes the opportunity to pull Kane in to a tight clinch against the ropes. Kane tries to break free, but cannot. It looks like we know the strategies for this round already; Kane wants to stand and bang, Spyrou wants to keep things at close quarters. Kane tries for an elbow, but only succeeds in getting turned around so that he is now the one against the ropes. Trip from Spyrou, and we're down to the ground. Spyrou has side control, but Kane has landed with his left hand side against the ropes, so that side of the body is basically safe for now. Spyrou will have to try to work the right-hand side, and starts by ramming a knee into the ribs. Kane tries to squirm into a better position, but Spyrou puts a stop to that with a stiff elbow to the stomach. Spyrou tries to work a kimura on the right arm, but Kane defends it. Kane manages to bring a knee up and catch Spyrou in the side, something of a cheeky move given his position. Spyrou responds with five or six rapid-fire right hands to the face, but Kane covers up and doesn't take any serious damage at all. Time is ticking away though, and so far Spyrou may be easily winning the round, but he is not taking full advantage of this great position. Spyrou tries to float over into a mount, but Kane uses the ropes to push away and manages to unbalance Spyrou enough to get to a kneeling position, then standing, albeit back into a clinch. A knee from Spyrou is the last action of the round. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Spyrou by 10-9.

Round 3
Kane hits some tentative punches, then comes in fast and forces Spyrou to back up against the ropes, where they clinch. Kane hits a nice body shot, but takes two short punches to the side of the head in return. Spyrou tries a trip, but it doesn't go anywhere. They separate, with Kane having to stay sharp to avoid a scorching right hand from Spyrou. Kane scores with a jab, then another, then comes in fast with a takedown. Spyrou scrambles and after an extended period of struggling manages to get himself into north and south position, on top of Kane. Spyrou hits a hard right to the chest, then turns and gets a full mount. Kane is really struggling, and can barely get his arms up to cover up from the strikes that Spyrou is now raining down. A quick transition and Spyrou has an arm and applies an americana. Kane has no choice, there's the tap out. Spyrou wins via americana submission at 3:53 of the third round.

Davis Spyrou ($5,300) beat Will Kane ($3,000) by Submission in 3:53 of round 3. (2 stars)

Middle Heavyweight Match
#2 Shane Gilchrist (12-2) vs. #3 Eddie Whelan (11-2)
Gilchrist has a 29 lb. weight advantage. Whelan is at a physical disadvantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Shane Gilchrist via knock out.

Round 1
Gilchrist makes Whelan back up against the ropes by throwing some looping punches. He comes in closer and hits a right hook to the body, getting a jab to the cheek in return. Gilchrist throws another two punches, both to the body, then steps back to avoid an uppercut. Whelan lets fly with a scorching punch though, and it catches Gilchrist by surprise, putting him down! Whelan follows up and starts raining down right hands. Gilchrist covers up as best he can, but it's not enough as the referee pulls Whelan off, the match is over. Official time of the TKO is 1:40 of the first round.

Eddie Whelan ($4,400) beat Shane Gilchrist ($3,000) by T.K.O. in 1:40 of round 1. (2 stars)

Lightweight Title Main Event
#1 Marko Prochazka (12-2) vs. #2 Luke Hilton (6-1)
Hilton has the advantage on the ground with his ground and pound skills.
Blurcat's Prediction: Luke Hilton via knock out.

Round 1
Hilton leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Procházka deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Procházka uses a knee to the ribs before backing Hilton up against the ropes. Right hand from Hilton connects though, that was well timed. Procházka breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Hilton was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Procházka sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Hilton fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Procházka throws a stinging jab, landing just above the left eye. Hilton steps in and fires off one of his own, but Procházka bobs out of the way and scores with a pair of solid shots to the body. Hilton turns and swings, just as Procházka also unloads...and it's Procházka who connects first! Hilton's hands drop and he is on rubbery legs. Procházka follows up with a beauty of a right hand, and that drops Hilton. The referee doesn't even wait for Procházka to dive in to finish, he's seen enough, Hilton is clearly on Dream Street. This bout is over! Procházka wins via 1st round TKO with the official time being 8:49. Marko Procházka is the new OMEGA Lightweight champion.

Marko Prochazka ($5,300) beat Luke Hilton ($800) by T.K.O. in 8:49 of round 1 to win the OMEGA Lightweight title. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 462 for an estimated live gate of $27,510. The fighters earned a total of $29,600. The general feeling amongst the fans was that the show was a good one. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

Marko Prochazka wins the lightweight title tournament and becomes my first champion. He defeated Indriyanto Setyo Nugroho by submission, Datuk Ong Ka Ting by T.K.O., and then Luke Hilton by T.K.O. His first win saw him get ranked as the world's #6 lightweight fighter. After his second win in the tournament he was ranked as the world’s #3 lightweight fighter. Yesterday’s win over Hilton moved Prochazka up to the world’s #2 ranked lightweight fighter. My current plan is to have his first title defence against the winner of a fight between Taufik Wijaya and Jamie Hewitt.

OMEGA 10 (Southern Asia)

Middle Heavyweight Match
#5 Barry Strachan (3-6) vs. #4 Harvey Loeb (9-4)
Strachan has a 28lb weight advantage. Loeb is at a physical disadvantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Harvey Loeb via T.K.O.

Round 1
Strachan starts fast, coming out almost immediately with a three punch combination. None of them get through, and Loeb manages to squeeze a jab of his own through and score just above the left cheek. They exchange a flurry of blows right in the center, it's difficult to see who got the best of it, and both of them retreat a few steps to recover. Good start to the round, early indications are that this is going to be all about the striking, neither fighter has even hinted at going for a takedown. Loeb uses a low kick to set up a nice right hand, and Strachan is forced back against the ropes. Loeb picks his shots and gets a big punch to the body in. Strachan uses a couple of looping punches to make Loeb keep back, but it doesn't last for long, as Loeb bursts forward and hits two big right hands, taking a counter punch to the body though, and they wind up in a clinch. They exchange weak-looking blows from that position, before the referee grows tired of the inactivity and breaks them apart. Strachan scores with a low kick. Loeb pushes Strachan up against the ropes and clinches. Nothing comes from it. Loeb unwinds a right hook that narrowly misses. That will be the last action of the round though. The round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Loeb by 10-9.

Round 2
The two competitors start slowly, circling and looking for an opening. Strachan fakes shooting in for a takedown, but Loeb didn't buy it for a second. In comes Strachan from an angle to the right, but Loeb had it covered all the way, and not only easily steps out of the way of the attempted right hand, but manages to score with a solid right hand to the side of the head. Strachan felt that, and is forced to cover up quickly as Loeb steps in quickly and unloads with a flurry of powerful blows, looking to capitalise on the earlier strike. Strachan is forced back against the ropes, but to his credit, he did a good job defending those strikes and didn't seem to take any significant damage. Loeb doesn't get in too close, realising that it would likely mean getting caught in a clinch, so he stands slightly back instead and throws some low kicks and looping punches. Strachan responds by throwing out some straight jabs, but neither fighter is really doing any damage to their opponent. Loeb clearly grows tired of the wait, and moves in to hit a body blow. It connects, but Strachan is quick to tie him up in a clinch. That lasts quite a while, until the referee gets in there and breaks them up, telling them to fight. Loeb narrowly misses a right cross. Loeb scores with a stiff jab, and bobs and weaves to avoid all three of the rapid-fire punches that come back from Strachan. Nicely done. Strachan, realising that he is losing this round, comes forward with a sense of urgency, throwing right hands to put Loeb on the back foot. Loeb handles it well though, refusing to let Strachan get an angle, and using some nice counter punches to the body to further cement the fact that this round is going to him on points. Time expires with Strachan throwing increasingly desperate punches. The second round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Loeb.

Round 3
The two fighters circle. A series of looping punches from Strachan forces Loeb back up against the ropes, and he has to cover up to withstand the three strikes that follow. No real damage caused, but Strachan is aggressively chasing this match. A hook finds the body and Loeb clinches. They almost lose their balance as they jockey for position, Loeb gets in a couple of knees when they regain their footing. Strachan seems to be trying to break the clinch, it's Loeb who is holding it tight, perhaps hoping to calm the energetic start that Strachan had. The referee finally does break them up, after nearly a full minute of inactivity. Strachan hits a right hand above Loeb's right eye, but gets clinched up before he can do anything further. Loeb forces him back against the ropes. They struggle, with Strachan keeping the takedown from happening by pulling away from every trip attempt. Loeb pushes Strachan into the ropes, then sweeps the legs quickly. Strachan couldn't get out of the way that time, and goes down. He pulls guard. Loeb breaks the guard and stands up, leaving Strachan on his back. Strachan tries to keep Loeb back with some up-kicks, Loeb has to be careful not to get caught with them, they have power. Loeb fakes a dive, pushes the legs to one side, and gets side control. Strachan tries to turn into it so that he can pull guard, but Loeb isn't allowing it, and traps both arms, creating a crucifix position. Loeb starts throwing punches to the face, Strachan having no arms free to block them. Big shot from Loeb, that caught Strachan on the chin as he momentarily lifted his head while trying to struggle free. Strachan is out like a light. The referee jumps in, this is over. Loeb wins via knock out at 5:31 of the third round.

Harvey Loeb ($1,800) beat Barry Strachan ($1,000) by Knock Out in 5:31 of round 3. (2 stars)

Heavyweight Match
#1 Bob Dozier (6-2) vs. Mugur Boc (3-0)
Boc has the advantage on the ground with his ground and pound skills.
Blurcat's Prediction: Mugur Boc via knock out.

Round 1
They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from Dozier, providing the first moment of real action. Boc hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but Dozier side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. Boc is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. End of round 1. Blurcat.com gives that one to Boc by 10-9.

Round 2
Dozier leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Boc deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Boc uses a knee to the ribs before backing Dozier up against the ropes. Right hand from Dozier connects though, that was well timed. Boc breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Dozier was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Boc sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Dozier fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Boc makes Dozier back up against the ropes by throwing some looping punches. He comes in closer and hits a right hook to the body, getting a jab to the cheek in return. Boc throws another two punches, both to the body, then steps back to avoid an uppercut. Dozier lets fly with a scorching punch though, and it catches Boc by surprise, putting him down! Dozier follows up and starts raining down right hands. Boc covers up as best he can, but it's not enough as the referee pulls Dozier off, the match is over. The official time is 4:45.

Bob Dozier ($700) beat Mugur Boc ($200) by T.K.O. in 4:45 of round 2. (1 star)

Heavyweight Match
#3 Stanislaw Lipnicki (8-6) vs. #2 Rav Kapur (6-0)
Kapur has the advantage while standing and is more mobile.
Blurcat's Prediction: Rav Kapur via knock out.

Round 1
Lipnicki starts fast, coming out almost immediately with a three punch combination. None of them get through, and Kapur manages to squeeze a jab of his own through and score just above the left cheek. They exchange a flurry of blows right in the center, it's difficult to see who got the best of it, and both of them retreat a few steps to recover. Good start to the round, early indications are that this is going to be all about the striking, neither fighter has even hinted at going for a takedown. Kapur uses a low kick to set up a nice right hand, and Lipnicki is forced back against the ropes. Kapur picks his shots and gets a big punch to the body in. Lipnicki uses a couple of looping punches to make Kapur keep back, but it doesn't last for long, as Kapur bursts forward and hits two big right hands, taking a counter punch to the body though, and they wind up in a clinch. They exchange weak-looking blows from that position, before the referee grows tired of the inactivity and breaks them apart. Lipnicki scores with a low kick. About thirty seconds pass without any contact, and the crowd become a little restless. Kapur unwinds a right hook that narrowly misses. That will be the last action of the round though. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Kapur.

Round 2
They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from Lipnicki, providing the first moment of real action. Kapur hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but Lipnicki side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. Kapur is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. The second round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Kapur by 10-9.

Round 3
Lipnicki leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Kapur deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Kapur uses a knee to the ribs before backing Lipnicki up against the ropes. Right hand from Lipnicki connects though, that was well timed. Kapur breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Lipnicki was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Kapur sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Lipnicki fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Lipnicki fires off three straight jabs, none of which connect. Kapur is forced up with his back against the ropes though. He clearly doesn't like the thought of being trapped there for any length of time though, as he quickly comes forward with a barrage of wild punches. Lipnicki bobs and weaves to avoid them, but is literally bundled over in the process. There wasn't really any punch that put him down, it was simply the fact that Kapur was advancing at a faster rate than he could back-pedal! Kapur follows up with Lipnicki down on his back. Kapur presses the advantage and starts wailing away, although most of the punches aren't landing very well. A few are though, and Lipnicki can't do much more than cover up. An elbow finds its way through, and looked like it landed on the bridge of the nose. Big right hand from Kapur, who is expending a lot of energy on this attack. Lipnicki tries to grab a guillotine, but can't get it. Left hand, connects, from Kapur. That landed hard on the chin, and that convinces the referee to get in and stop the match. A controversial decision. The official time of the TKO is 5:11 of round 3.

Rav Kapur ($4,400) beat Stanislaw Lipnicki ($1,000) by T.K.O. in 5:11 of round 3. (2 stars)

Middleweight Title Main Event
#1 Dennis Gallagher (7-1) vs. #4 Xie Ming (5-0)
Gallagher is the better athlete.
Blurcat's Prediction: Xie Ming via T.K.O.

Round 1
Ming doesn't waste any time and throws two jabs to the face, but Gallagher easily side-steps both and circles to the left. Gallagher throws a head fake, then comes in fast from an angle with a looping punch, but misses and takes a glancing shot to the shoulder from a left hand counter. Gallagher gets caught with a solid right hand out of nowhere, and is rocked. Ming follows up with another one, and Gallagher looks in trouble all of a sudden. He is backed up against the ropes and Ming is unloading. The punches are raining down, Gallagher is covering up. The referee has seen enough and stops the fight, clearly feeling that Gallagher was unable to defend himself intelligently. Ming wins. Ming wins via TKO at 1:51 of the first round. Xie Ming wins the OMEGA Middleweight title.

Xie Ming ($5,300) beat Dennis Gallagher ($1,000) by T.K.O. in 1:51 of round 1 to win the OMEGA Middleweight title. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 306 for an estimated live gate of $18,200. The fighters earned a total of $15,400. The general feeling amongst the fans was that the show was a good one. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

Jeff Carlton ($50,000) beat Hiro Arai ($250,000) by Unanimous Decision in 10:00 of round 5 to retain the ALPHA-1 Heavyweight title. (4 stars)

The announced attendance was 263. The fighters earned a total of $385,400.

This was ALPHA-1’s first fight card in America. The main event was easily the best match on the card. Bringing out Jeff Carlton, the first ever GAMMA heavyweight champion, who is still popular in America, and having him defend his title for only the second time since he won it back in August of 1996 was a brilliant move. However, the rest of the card was composed of matches that my company could have easily shown, being nothing more than one and two star matches featuring at most one top ten fighter in ALPHA-1 versus an unranked opponent.

The announced attendance was 736. The fighters earned a total of $34,200.

Nice to see the Maier vs. Kane fight rate 3 stars, but I would have liked to have had that fight on my card. I still might eventually put another rematch between those two on one of my fight cards. Maier had previously fought Kane eleven months ago in BCF, June 96, with Kane winning that one by knock out.

Spyrou’s loss messes up my plans a little. I am going to have him fight Lachlan Bowen and then the winner will face my new middleweight champ, Xie Ming. Hopefully, Bowen will beat Spyrou because I would rather feed my undefeated middleweight champion, an opponent who is on a winning streak. Without the loss, Spyrou would have been on a winning streak if he wins against Bowen.

OMEGA 11 (Eastern Asia)

Heavyweight Match
#5 Manol Sirakov (4-7) vs. #6 Kevin Portman (2-3)
Neither fighter has a particularly strong advantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Manol Sirakov via knock out.

Round 1
Portman pushes Sirakov up against the ropes in a clinch. Portman throws a knee, then a couple of short punches to the side of the head. Sirakov pushes him away and steps in to score with an uppercut. Portman took it flush on the chin and is rocked! Another right hand drops Portman against the ropes, and Sirakov follows up by unloading with a barrage of punches. The referee gets in and pulls Sirakov away, he wins the match by TKO. The official time of the TKO is 1:51 of round 1.

Manol Sirakov ($1,800) beat Kevin Portman ($400) by T.K.O. in 1:51 of round 1. (1 star)

Heavyweight Match
Mugur Boc (3-1) vs. #3 Stjepan Andric (8-5)
Boc has the advantage on the ground.
Blurcat's Prediction: Mugur Boc via knock out.

Round 1
Boc comes out fast and quickly backs Andric up, all the way up against the ropes. Boc throws a series of rights and lefts; none of the strikes to the head got through, but two nice body shots did. He doesn't follow up though, instead keeping a few steps back, clearly not wanting to get tied up in a clinch. Andric throws a low kick, then advances with some jabs, forcing Boc to back off a little. They meet in the center and exchange strikes, with Boc looking the crisper striker of the two, although without doing any real damage. Andric shoots in for the takedown, but Boc sprawls and eventually pushes free. Right hand from Boc, then two jabs which both find their mark. Andric bats away a third, then comes in hard and fast for a second takedown attempt. Boc sprawls again, but gets pushed all the way up against the ropes. Andric has a leg, but is low down to the ground and doesn't have the leverage to complete the takedown. He works to a better standing position, but has to lose the leg and grab a clinch instead. They both fire off some small punches from there. Andric tries for a trip, but Boc avoids it and works free from the clinch. He returns to the center, clearly wanting a striking battle rather than a grappling match. Andric follows, hands held high, and throws a couple of jabs. Boc connects with one instead though, and then with a looping right hand that catches Andric above the eye. He felt that, but doesn't go down. Best strike of the round so far. Andric throws a low kick. Boc comes in to strike again, but this time cannot sprawl quickly enough and gets taken down. Boc pulls guard. Unfortunately for Andric, now that he has finally gotten the takedown, there's less than thirty seconds left. He tries to pass guard to get to side control, but Boc comfortably defends it until the round is over. The first round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Boc.

Round 2
Slow start to this round, Boc is being tentative and Andric looks like he is waiting for an angle to appear. The first exchange of strikes doesn't really go anywhere. A second set falls in Boc's favour, as he gets a nice jab in, hitting right above the nose, and a solid shot to the body. Andric goes in for a takedown but only manages to secure one leg. Boc hammers down two shots to the back, but can't really do a lot else. Andric tries to push him over onto his back, but Boc manages to pull free and back off. Andric throws a high left handed jab then goes in for another takedown. Good sprawl from Boc, and he backs off. Andric doesn't get a chance to go for a third, because Boc takes the fight to him with a barrage of lefts and rights, forcing him back against the ropes. Boc clinches up, only after hitting a hard shot to the stomach though. The clinch seems to go on forever, with Andric unable to get a good enough position to try a takedown, and Boc tied up too much to really throw any decent strikes. Eventually the time runs out and they head back to their corners. The second round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Boc.

Round 3
Boc throws a nice series of straight rights from the start, bobbing and weaving to keep Andric from landing anything in return. None of the punches got through though, Andric parried them away. Nice crisp start to the round though. Andric swings for the fences, but Boc ducks under and comes in closer, into grappling range. He scoops up Andric onto his shoulder, and then flattens him with a slam. The crowd pop for it. Boc gets side control, but loses it almost immediately as Andric is able to regain composure and pull guard. Boc stands, and uses his arms to push Andric's guard apart. Leaning down between the legs, he starts throwing vicious punches. Andric tries to bring his legs back in to pull guard again, while simultaneously covering up, but he is having trouble; Boc is using his body to keep the legs from coming in. More punches rain down, and Andric is starting to get really pounded. A big shot lands hard on the nose, then a left hand crunches into his cheek. The referee has seen enough and pulls Boc away, signalling the end of this match. The official time of the TKO is 1:11 of round 3.

Mugur Boc ($1,800) beat Stjepan Andric ($2,500) by T.K.O. in 1:11 of round 3. (2 stars)

Lightweight Match
Jamie Hewitt (3-1) vs. #2 Taufik Wijaya (33-17-2)
Neither fighter has a particularly strong advantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Jamie Hewitt via T.K.O.

Round 1
Hewitt leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Wijaya deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Wijaya uses a knee to the ribs before backing Hewitt up against the ropes. Right hand from Hewitt connects though, that was well timed. Wijaya breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Hewitt was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Wijaya sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Hewitt fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. High right kick from Hewitt, Wijaya got caught trying to come in from a bad angle. He's down! Hewitt quickly moves in for the kill. Wijaya covers up, but Hewitt is raining down punches from the half mount position. At least two hard shots get through. Hewitt moves up into side control, briefly looks like he is considering trying to take an arm, then goes back to teeing off on Wijaya's head with fists. Wijaya tries to wriggle free, but isn't really getting anywhere because Hewitt is lying right across his upper body. Hewitt uses his legs to ensnare Wijaya's right arm, and then starts firing off more and more punches. With only his left hand to try and block them, Wijaya is taking more punches than he is blocking. The referee is looking very closely at this, unless Wijaya does something dramatic pretty soon, I doubt this will go much longer. Hewitt stops to take a deep breath, then starts firing off another barrage. Wijaya takes at least three hard shots to the face during the attack, and that's enough for the referee, he calls an end to the match. Official time of the TKO is 7:57 of the first.

Jamie Hewitt ($1,800) beat Taufik Wijaya ($3,000) by T.K.O. in 7:57 of round 1. (2 stars)

Middle Heavyweight Title Main Event
#2 Eddie Whelan (12-2) vs. #1 Mark Bicknell (11-3)
Whelan is the better stand-up fighter. Bicknell has a 29lb weight advantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Eddie Whelan via T.K.O.

Round 1
The fighters touch gloves, then circle. Whelan throws a low kick, but it was without any conviction, it seemed designed more to keep Bicknell from coming inside. Whelan works an angle, then comes in with a one-two combination, Bicknell responds with a crisp uppercut that wasn't far off from connecting. Whelan backs off slightly, maybe a bit relieved not to have taken that one on the chin. Neither fighter appears to be looking for any sort of takedown or grapple, this is all about the striking. Bicknell circles and throws a series of high jabs, but Whelan blocked them with ease, using the gloves. Whelan fakes a high kick, then storms in with a wild looking right hand and a series of body shots. Bicknell covers up and rides out the storm, clinching to stop any further blows. It was a nice attack from Whelan though, best action of the round. They stay clinched for a while, exchanging occasional punches to the ribs, then are separated by the referee. It looks like this round is going to the judges though, as there's only a few seconds remaining. Whelan throws a leg kick that connects, albeit without too much force, and the round is done. The round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Whelan.

Round 2
The round begins, and it is Whelan who starts better, energetically bounding straight into action by throwing a three-punch combination and a scything leg kick. Bicknell defended all four blows well, but is forced to be on the backfoot right from the word go. Whelan works for an angle, coming in from the left hand side with a high right hand. Bicknell ducks under it and nestles a stiff jab in the solar plexus. It doesn't seem to slow Whelan down much though, as he swiftly turns and hits a crisp left to the side of the head, followed almost instantly by a mid-level kick that smacks above the hip of Bicknell. Interesting first minute of action, Whelan is looking particularly sharp. Bicknell tries to turn the momentum by advancing quickly and driving Whelan back against the ropes with a series of jabs and hooks, and they end up clinched. Bicknell tries a knee from that position, but it is blocked. Whelan scores with two sharp blows to the ribs, and then they break away from each other. Bicknell looks to be working an angle. They square up to each other in the center. Whelan throws a head fake and comes in from low down to hit a rising shot that catches Bicknell on the side of the head. Bicknell got a shot in too though, although it hit the shoulder rather than the head. Time is running down; Whelan has probably done enough to win the round, but it has turned quite scrappy since the clinch against the ropes, both will probably be slightly unhappy with that. Bicknell tries a late surge, coming in hard and fast with a leading left, but Whelan defends it well and scores the only meaningful shot of the exchange with a crisp left hand. End of round 2. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Whelan.

Round 3
Tentative start to the round, the fighters are circling. Whelan throws out a couple of range-finding jabs, but they aren't anything that will trouble Bicknell. Kick to the thigh from Bicknell, but it lacked power. About thirty seconds pass without any contact, and the crowd become a little restless. Bicknell forces Whelan back against the ropes and comes in close to try and unload. Whelan pushes him away with a shove, palm across the face, and Bicknell loses his balance and is dumped onto the ground. Whelan leaps into action to follow up. Bicknell covers up, but Whelan is raining down punches from the half mount position. At least two hard shots get through. Whelan moves up into side control, briefly looks like he is considering trying to take an arm, then goes back to teeing off on Bicknell's head with fists. Bicknell tries to wriggle free, but isn't really getting anywhere because Whelan is lying right across his upper body. Whelan uses his legs to ensnare Bicknell's right arm, and then starts firing off more and more punches. With only his left hand to try and block them, Bicknell is taking more punches than he is blocking. The referee is looking very closely at this, unless Bicknell does something dramatic pretty soon, I doubt this will go much longer. Whelan stops to take a deep breath, then starts firing off another barrage. Bicknell takes at least three hard shots to the face during the attack, and that's enough for the referee, he calls an end to the match. The official time of the TKO is 1:06 of round 3. Eddie Whelan wins the OMEGA Middle Heavyweight title.

Eddie Whelan ($4,400) beat Mark Bicknell ($2,000) by T.K.O. in 1:06 of round 3 to win the OMEGA Middle Heavyweight title. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 484 for an estimated live gate of $28,770. The fighters earned a total of $17,700. The fans went home happy having gotten their money's worth from the night's action. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

OMEGA 12 (Southern Asia)

Middle Heavyweight Match
#7 Russell McPhee (3-3) vs. #5 Jesse Singh (5-5)
McPhee had the advantage while standing with his striking ability.
Blurcat's Prediction: Russell McPhee via T.K.O.

Round 1
Slow start to the round, nearly a minute has gone by without anything but a few jabs finding gloves. Singh comes in, looking for a grapple it seems, but takes a powerful kick just above the left hip. McPhee really put some venom into that strike. Singh backs off, clearly stung. McPhee is the one advancing now, using a left hand jab to lead. He steps forward and fires off a big kick, aimed at the head. Singh ducks and moves out of range, but that was clearly intended to be a match-ender, McPhee was going for the knock out. It's pretty clear that he thinks that kicks are going to do the job in this round, and it has to be said that Singh is looking to have a hard time countering them. On top of that, the threat of the kicks is keeping Singh from getting in too close. McPhee stalks Singh, throwing the occasional high right hand, perhaps range-finding. Singh is circling, seeking an opening of some kind. He moves in from the left and is quick enough to get into the clinch without taking any shots. McPhee hits a knee, but takes one right back. The kicks aren't a danger from this position, that's for sure. McPhee squirms free, but foolishly lost his concentration for a second and took a hard right hand above the eye in the process. Silly mistake. Singh comes in, looking more confident now, and gets in a couple of right hands and a lovely hook to the body. McPhee tags him with a jab though, and then hits another fearsome kick to the same spot above the left hip. And another! Singh backs off, and a huge red mark has appeared in that spot. McPhee advances and throws another head kick, but it is mostly blocked by the hands of Singh. The round is drawing to a close, and those kicks have certainly proved massively effective for McPhee. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to McPhee.

Round 2
Singh throws a straight right, batted away by McPhee. Singh goes for a second, but gets beaten to the punch as McPhee scores with a kick that catches Singh across the outside of the knee. McPhee throws another one, and this time it lands just above the same knee. Singh backs off slightly. McPhee throws a high jab, then head-fakes and comes in with a left hook from low down. Singh fires back with a crisp right hand that connects to the shoulder rather than the face. McPhee throws another fizzing low kick, again connecting with the knee. Singh tried to check it, but couldn't in time. Those strikes are going to add up soon and start reducing his mobility. McPhee throws another kick, this time at chest-height, but it's merely a set-up to allow him to come in fast and start throwing a series of jabs. Singh covers up, throwing occasional straight rights in return. McPhee backs off, but not before cracking another kick into the thigh region. Time is running down, Singh has failed to deal with those kicks, and it has definitely cost him this round, and possibly done some damage to his knee. The second round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to McPhee.

Round 3
They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from Singh, providing the first moment of real action. McPhee hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but Singh side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. McPhee is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. The third round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 McPhee. The three judges all give the match as 30-27 to Russell McPhee.

Russell McPhee ($400) beat Jesse Singh ($300) by Unanimous Decision in 10:00 of round 3. (DUD)

Middle Heavyweight Match
#4 Harvey Loeb (10-4) vs. Mason Martin (1-1)
Loeb is at a physical disadvantage. Martin has a 28lb weight advantage.
Blurcat's Prediction: Mason Martin via T.K.O.

Round 1
An exchange of jabs doesn't go anywhere. Martin fakes a kick, then darts in to score with a straight left before backing out fast to avoid a left-right combination from Loeb. They clinch, and Loeb winds up backed against the ropes. A couple of minor blows get exchanged, but it's turned into a bit of a stalemate. Martin tries to push Loeb back, but can't. The referee waits a while, then separates them and gets them to resume. They clinch. Martin fires off a couple of right hands to the ribs, then ducks down and secures a leg. Loeb hops up and down, but can't prevent Martin from simply pushing forward and taking them to the ground. Loeb uses his free leg to wrap up a half guard, and manages to secure that to full guard pretty swiftly. Martin breaks the guard and stands up, leaving Loeb on his back. Loeb tries to keep Martin back with some up-kicks, Martin has to be careful not to get caught with them, they have power. Martin fakes a dive, pushes the legs to one side, and gets side control. Loeb tries to turn into it so that he can pull guard, but Martin isn't allowing it, and traps both arms, creating a crucifix position. Martin starts throwing punches to the face, Loeb having no arms free to block them. Big shot from Martin, that caught Loeb on the chin as he momentarily lifted his head while trying to struggle free. Loeb is out like a light. The referee jumps in, this is over. Martin wins via 1st round knock out with the official time being 7:31.

Mason Martin ($200) beat Harvey Loeb ($1,000) by Knock Out in 7:31 of round 1. (1 star)

Middleweight Match
#6 Bixente Fontaine (10-5) vs. #8 Jemaine McKenzie (7-4)
Fontaine has the advantage while standing with his striking ability.
Blurcat's Prediction: Bixente Fontaine via knock out.

Round 1
The two fighters circle. A series of looping punches from McKenzie forces Fontaine back up against the ropes, and he has to cover up to withstand the three strikes that follow. No real damage caused, but McKenzie is aggressively chasing this match. A hook finds the body and Fontaine clinches. They almost lose their balance as they jockey for position, Fontaine gets in a couple of knees when they regain their footing. McKenzie seems to be trying to break the clinch, it's Fontaine who is holding it tight, perhaps hoping to calm the energetic start that McKenzie had. The referee finally does break them up, after nearly a full minute of inactivity. Fontaine gets caught with a solid right hand out of nowhere, and is rocked. McKenzie follows up with another one, and Fontaine looks in trouble all of a sudden. He is backed up against the ropes and McKenzie is unloading. The punches are raining down, Fontaine is covering up. The referee has seen enough and stops the fight, clearly feeling that Fontaine was unable to defend himself intelligently. McKenzie wins. The official time is 5:19.

Jemaine McKenzie ($1,800) beat Bixente Fontaine ($2,500) by T.K.O. in 5:19 of round 1. (1 star)

Heavyweight Title Main Event
#2 Bob Dozier (7-2) vs. #1 Rav Kapur (7-0)
Kapur has the advantage on the ground with his ground and pound skills.
Blurcat's Prediction: Rav Kapur via knock out.

Round 1
Dozier starts fast, coming out almost immediately with a three punch combination. Kapur uses a low kick to set up a nice right hand, and Dozier is forced back against the ropes. Kapur picks his shots and gets a big punch to the body in. Dozier uses a couple of looping punches to make Kapur keep back, but it doesn't last for long, as Kapur bursts forward and hits two big right hands, taking a counter punch to the body though, and they wind up in a clinch. They exchange weak-looking blows from that position, before the referee grows tired of the inactivity and breaks them apart. Dozier scores with a low kick. Kapur pushes Dozier up against the ropes and clinches. Nothing comes from it. Kapur unwinds a right hook that narrowly misses. That will be the last action of the round though. The first round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Kapur by 10-9.

Round 2
Dozier throws a ragged jab, missing by a mile as Kapur simply ducks under and unloads a vicious hook from below. It catches Dozier square on the jaw, and he goes down! Kapur mounts and starts firing off punches, rapid-fire. The referee waits to see if Dozier can recover, decides that he can't, and pulls Kapur off. The match is over. Official time of the TKO is 0:34 of the second round. Rav Kapur wins the OMEGA Heavyweight title.

Rav Kapur ($4,400) beat Bob Dozier ($400) by T.K.O. in 0:34 of round 2 to win the OMEGA Heavyweight title. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 316 for an estimated live gate of $18,830. The fighters earned a total of $11,000. The general feeling amongst the fans was that the show was a good one. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

Marko Prochazka, OMEGA Lightweight champion, is my only fighter on this card. While he lost his winning streak with this fight, he didn't pick up any injuries, which is good. As soon as Prochazka has recovered from this fight, I plan to have him defend his title against Jamie Hewitt (4-1).

I decided to hold my first fight card in the South Eastern Asia region, so I am expecting a low turn out. I also moved up the date from my usual last day of the month (Sunday, Week 4) to the first day (Monday) of week 4. I did this so that I could get Tuck Durdell to fight one more time for OMEGA before his current contract runs out. I will probably keep this fight card date going forward, and also include South Eastern Asia in the fight card location rotation with the other two Asian regions.

OMEGA 13 (South Eastern Asia)

Middleweight Match
#2 Uwe Maier (9-2) vs. Tuck Durdell (0-2)
Maier has the advantage while standing.
Blurcat's Prediction: Uwe Maier via T.K.O.

Round 1
The round starts slowly, with both fighters circling, tentatively throwing out the occasional jab. Durdell is the first to make a positive move, stepping in to throw a right hand, although he probably wishes that he hadn't, as Maier picks him off with a crisp jab to the cheek. Durdell throws a wild punch as a counter, but Maier ducks and backs off out of range. They meet again in the center for an exchange of punches. Durdell gets a clubbing blow to the side of the head in, but takes a hard shot to the stomach in return. The early pattern seems to be that Durdell is looking for big punches, Maier is happy to avoid them and use quick counter punches instead. They clinch up, and Durdell manages to back Maier up against the ropes. Durdell takes a half step backward and throws a big right hand to the head, but Maier ducks under at the last second, scores with a pair of punches to the gut, then darts out of trouble before Durdell can unload. Durdell may need to think about changing tactics, Maier is looking far sharper in these striking battles, and is beginning to control the pace and tempo of the round. Durdell fakes a right hand, then shoots out a low kick, catching Maier on the thigh. Maier presses forward for the first time, getting in close and using a couple of jabs to the body. Durdell gets a nice left hook in, glancing off the gloves, and then clinches up. Time ticks away and the round ends just a few seconds after the referee separates them. The round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Maier.

Round 2
Not the most interesting of starts to the round, it's mainly a lot of circling. The referee apparently gets bored, as he tells them to get on with it and fight. Durdell complies, firing off a dangerous right cross, narrowly missing. Maier throws a couple of stiff jabs, but they only find gloves. Durdell fakes left, then comes in from the right, hitting a nice body blow. Maier steps forward and unleashes a big kick, thundering it into Durdell's ribs. He felt that one for sure. Maier follows up by hitting a right hand too. Durdell finds himself backed up against the ropes. Maier advances, and throws a scythe-like kick to the legs. Durdell can't get out of the way, and almost gets felled by the impact. Maier steps in and scores with a high head kick. Durdell partially blocked it with his hands, which was probably the only thing stopping it from being a knock out blow. Durdell gets a right hand jab out in response, then pulls Maier into a clinch. Knee strike from Maier. They break. Durdell still looks hurt from that first kick. Maier gets in close and gives a receipt for that earlier body blow, nailing a right hand to the gut. Durdell hits a jab to the cheek in response, then clinches again. Time runs down, the round will end before anything more can happen. Maier has used those powerful kicks to dominate this round. End of round 2. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Maier.

Round 3
Slow start to this round, Maier is being tentative and Durdell looks like he is waiting for an angle to appear. The first exchange of strikes doesn't really go anywhere. A second set falls in Maier's favour, as he gets a nice jab in, hitting right above the nose, and a solid shot to the body. Durdell goes in for a takedown but only manages to secure one leg. Maier hammers down two shots to the back, but can't really do a lot else. Durdell tries to push him over onto his back, but Maier manages to pull free and back off. Durdell throws a high left handed jab then goes in for another takedown. Good sprawl from Maier, and he backs off. Durdell doesn't get a chance to go for a third, because Maier takes the fight to him with a barrage of lefts and rights, forcing him back against the ropes. Maier clinches up, only after hitting a hard shot to the stomach though. The clinch seems to go on forever, with Durdell unable to get a good enough position to try a takedown, and Maier tied up too much to really throw any decent strikes. Eventually the time runs out and they head back to their corners. The third round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Maier. Uwe Maier wins, with a score of 30-27 from two judges, 29-28 from the other.

Uwe Maier ($900) beat Tuck Durdell ($100) by Unanimous Decision in 10:00 of round 3. (1 star)

Middleweight Match
#4 Davis Spyrou (14-6) vs. Lachlan Bowen (2-1)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground.
Blurcat's Prediction: Davis Spyrou via submission.

Round 1
The two fighters circle. Bowen flicks out a couple of jabs, then an unconventinal looping right hand. Spyrou easily side-steps it, but trips and falls to the ground! He is up quickly, before Bowen could get in. Replays confirm that it was purely a stumble, the punch was well wide of the mark. Spyrou moves in, ducks under a big right hand, and gets two crisp jabs in before getting smothered into a clinch. One of those jabs landed hard, Bowen is a little rattled. They struggle in the clinch, both throwing small punches to the back and ribs. The referee separates them. Bowen forces Spyrou back up against the ropes, and starts throwing jabs. He looks to be keeping Spyrou in position, waiting to unload a big punch. Bowen does, lunging in with a huge right cross, but Spyrou saw it coming and goes underneath it, scoring with a right hand to the gut on the way past. Bowen turns and tries to follow up immediately, but gets tagged with a wicked left hook that drops him to one knee. Bowen is up quickly, causing Spyrou, who was about to dive in, to back off. Replays show that the punch connected, but Bowen was already going downward to duck the punch, so it wasn't as powerful as first thought. Bowen throws a high kick, but it doesn't do anything but cause Spyrou to step back. The time expires without anything further of note happening. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Spyrou.

Round 2
Spyrou starts fast, firing off several crisp jabs that keep Bowen on the back foot. A solid left hits gloves, but it's really just a set-up for Spyrou to step in and use an uppercut. Not sure how much of it caught Bowen, but certainly enough to to make him grab a clinch to stop any further punishment. Great start to the round from Spyrou, it has been total domination so far. The clinch is broken, and the two fighters exchange some long range jabs that are easily avoided. Bowen is looking a little lost so far, Spyrou is controlling this round by virtue of his crisp accurate punches and higher aggression levels. Bowen pushes Spyrou up against the ropes and clinches. Nothing comes from it. Spyrou leads with the left, then moves in and gets in a wicked right hand that grazes the cheek. Bowen was fortunate there, if that had landed properly it would have been over. Bowen comes back with a leg kick to set up a one-two combination, but the round is coming to a close and it's going to be too little too late. The one bright spot for Bowen is that although Spyrou clearly won the round, he didn't actually turn that dominance into any sort of real damage. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Spyrou.

Round 3
Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Spyrou puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Bowen defended well. Straight right from Bowen in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Spyrou probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Bowen gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Spyrou. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Spyrou. The three judges all give the match as 30-27 to Davis Spyrou.

Davis Spyrou ($5,300) beat Lachlan Bowen ($200) by Unanimous Decision in 10:00 of round 3. (1 star)

Lightweight Match
#6 Indriyanto Setyo Nugroho (12-15) vs. #5 Cory Brewer (8-6-1)
Brewer has the advantage on the ground with his ground and pound skills.
Blurcat's Prediction: Cory Brewer via T.K.O.

Round 1
They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from Nugroho, providing the first moment of real action. Brewer hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but Nugroho side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. Brewer is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. The round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Brewer.

Round 2
The round begins, and it is Brewer who starts better, energetically bounding straight into action by throwing a three-punch combination and a scything leg kick. Nugroho defended all four blows well, but is forced to be on the backfoot right from the word go. Brewer works for an angle, coming in from the left hand side with a high right hand. Nugroho ducks under it and nestles a stiff jab in the solar plexus. It doesn't seem to slow Brewer down much though, as he swiftly turns and hits a crisp left to the side of the head, followed almost instantly by a mid-level kick that smacks above the hip of Nugroho. Interesting first minute of action, Brewer is looking particularly sharp. Nugroho tries to turn the momentum by advancing quickly and driving Brewer back against the ropes with a series of jabs and hooks, and they end up clinched. Nugroho tries a knee from that position, but it is blocked. Brewer scores with two sharp blows to the ribs, and then they break away from each other. Brewer looks to be working an angle. They square up to each other in the center. Brewer throws a head fake and comes in from low down to hit a rising shot that catches Nugroho on the side of the head. Nugroho got a shot in too though, although it hit the shoulder rather than the head. Time is running down; Brewer has probably done enough to win the round, but it has turned quite scrappy since the clinch against the ropes, both will probably be slightly unhappy with that. Nugroho tries a late surge, coming in hard and fast with a leading left, but Brewer defends it well and scores the only meaningful shot of the exchange with a crisp left hand. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Brewer.

Round 3
Nugroho hits some tentative punches, then comes in fast and forces Brewer to back up against the ropes, where they clinch. Nugroho hits a nice body shot, but takes two short punches to the side of the head in return. Brewer tries a trip, but it doesn't go anywhere. They separate, with Nugroho having to stay sharp to avoid a scorching right hand from Brewer. They come together in the center and exchange strikes. Nugroho gets the better of it, and throws a wild right hand with evil intentions. Brewer saw it coming, and ducks under it, allowing him the perfect position to hit Nugroho with a takedown and put them on the ground. Brewer passes guard without too much trouble, and cracks Nugroho with a hard punch to the cheek. Nugroho tries to scramble into a better position without dropping his guard against another punch, but can't, and Brewer maneuvers so that he has one knee planted on Nugroho's chest, keeping him from rolling. Brewer quickly secures the left arm and transitions into a tight arm bar. Nugroho has no way out, he taps. Brewer wins via 3rd round armbar submission with the official time being 8:22.

Cory Brewer ($4,400) beat Indriyanto Setyo Nugroho ($300) by Submission in 8:22 of round 3. (1 star)

Lightweight Main Event
Datuk Ong Ka Ting (1-1) vs. #3 Luke Hilton (6-2)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground. Datuk is the better athlete.
Blurcat's Prediction: Luke Hilton via T.K.O.

Round 1
They touch gloves to start the round. Datuk starts the better of the two, putting together a string of right hand jabs and searching left hands that force Hilton to back up all the to the ropes. Datuk follows him in and gets in close enough to throw some body shots. Hilton clinches. A couple of right hands hit Datuk's shoulder, but otherwise there's not a lot happening. They break. Datuk misses with a right hand, and gets caught with a big kick to the legs! Datuk goes down, his knees literally taken out from under him. Hilton goes to follow up, and almost gets side control, but Datuk recovers quickly enough to turn and pull guard. Hilton fires off a couple of tentative punches, testing out the guard of Datuk. Hilton tries to pass the guard, but can't, Datuk isn't going to let him get a better position, as he knows that Hilton will start raining down punches. Hilton tries a big right hand, but it's easily defended. Datuk gets a punch of his own in, but it didn't connect properly. Hilton again tries to get past the guard, but again is foiled. It's turned into a bit of a stalemate, although the referee probably won't stand them up as long as the punches continue to flow. Hilton fakes an elbow before trying to pass the guard for a third time, and briefly has side mount, but Datuk fought it hard and gets back to guard within seconds. Butterfly guard by Datuk, and Hilton is having trouble generating any attacking threat. He'll probably win the round as he has been more aggressive, but Datuk has defended the danger well. End of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Hilton by 10-9.

Round 2
Datuk comes in quick to start, but none of the flurry of jabs that are thrown actually connect with anything but gloves. Hilton gets in a nice counter punch, bouncing a fist off the cheek. Datuk backs off, then starts to circle. Datuk throws a right hand to the the body that connects, then goes immediately for a high right hand that misses and puts him well off balance. Hilton capitalises, throwing a big kick to the head! Datuk goes down, although it's unclear as to how much of that was due to the power of the kick, and how much was down to a stumble. He doesn't look too stunned, as he has the presence of mind to roll over and get ready to defend an attack. It doesn't come though, as Hilton remains back, biding his time. Hilton steps in and kicks at the legs, avoiding the up-kick that comes back. He tries to move around to the side, but Datuk scoots the same way to keep the defence strong. Hilton finally moves in to throw some punches, but Datuk manages to pull guard without taking any serious punishment. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Hilton.

Round 3
Good start from Datuk, taking Hilton down almost immediately! Hilton scrambles though, and gets back to his feet without taking any damage at all. Datuk will be disappointed with that. Hilton comes in and throws two big right hands, but neither connects, and they put him off balance, allowing Datuk to score with a nice right hook to the side of the head, crunching into the top of the ear. Hilton felt that one for sure. He stalks Datuk, trying to back him up against the ropes. It doesn't work though, Datuk keeps out of the way. Hilton tries a kick, but Datuk catches the foot and uses it for a trip. Datuk gets Hilton down for the second time, and this time is right on top of him in guard position. Datuk throws some punches, then tries to pass. Hilton doesn't allow it, and tries to grab an armbar in response. Datuk easily stops that, and throws some more punches. That becomes the pattern, as the fight falls into a predictable pattern; punches from Datuk followed by a pass attempt, with Hilton blocking the pass and throwing the occasional punch in response. The round ends like that, just as the referee was about to stand them back up. The round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Datuk. The official scores are: 29-28 (Luke Hilton), 29-28 (Datuk Ong Ka Ting), 29-28 (Luke Hilton). Luke Hilton wins by split decision.

Luke Hilton ($4,400) beat Datuk Ong Ka Ting ($2,500) by Split Decision in 10:00 of round 3. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 36 for an estimated live gate of $2,170. The fighters earned a total of $18,100. The general feeling amongst the fans was that the show was a good one. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

Jamie Hewitt signed an exclusive contract with ALPHA-1, so he will be leaving soon. I decided to change my next fight card to include Hewitt vs. Prochazka for the OMEGA Lightweight title. I will do this in a few days, when Hewitt fully recovers from an injury, which will then allow me to add the match to the upcoming card.

Davis Spyrou now signs an exclusive contract with ALPHA-1. So, I will move up the date for OMEGA 15 to make sure I can put Davis Spyrou vs. Xie Ming for the Middleweight title on it before Spyrou leaves. Hopefully, both fighters that are leaving will lose. Nicolai Mickiewicz has recovered from his injury and so I am able to finally schedule a bout for the vacant Light Heavyweight title. After that, I will need to decide if I want to hire some new male fighters, or began to hire female fighters.

OMEGA 14 (Eastern Asia)

Light Heavyweight Match
#6 Jerry Bogdonovich (8-8) vs. #5 Kendall Tracey (5-1)
Tracey has a 5-inch height advantage. Bogdonovich is at a physical disadvantage.
Blurcat Prediction: Kendall Tracey via knock out.

Round 1
The fighters touch gloves, then circle. Bogdonovich throws a low kick, but it was without any conviction, it seemed designed more to keep Tracey from coming inside. Bogdonovich works an angle, then comes in with a one-two combination, Tracey responds with a crisp uppercut that wasn't far off from connecting. Bogdonovich backs off slightly, maybe a bit relieved not to have taken that one on the chin. Neither fighter appears to be looking for any sort of takedown or grapple, this is all about the striking. Tracey circles and throws a series of high jabs, but Bogdonovich blocked them with ease, using the gloves. Bogdonovich fakes a high kick, then storms in with a wild looking right hand and a series of body shots. Tracey covers up and rides out the storm, clinching to stop any further blows. It was a nice attack from Bogdonovich though, best action of the round. They stay clinched for a while, exchanging occasional punches to the ribs, then are separated by the referee. It looks like this round is going to the judges though, as there's only a few seconds remaining. Bogdonovich throws a leg kick that connects, albeit without too much force, and the round is done. End of round 1. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Bogdonovich.

Round 2
They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from Tracey, providing the first moment of real action. Bogdonovich hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but Tracey side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. Bogdonovich is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. The round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Bogdonovich.

Round 3
Two jabs from the left hand of Bogdonovich set up a hard waist-high kick, but Tracey steps back to avoid it. Nice attempt though. Bogdonovich moves in closer, bobbing and weaving, and looks to score with a looping right hand, but Tracey uses the gloves to parry it away, then counter-strikes with a crisp jab and a kick to the knee. Good opening to the round, both fighters are looking lively. Bogdonovich finds himself backed up against the ropes briefly, and has to scramble to safety to avoid a flurry of strikes. Tracey is working for position, and is currently looking the more composed of the two. Tracey pushes Bogdonovich back against the ropes, and is able to use that as a set up to taking Bogdonovich down the mat, landing in side control. Bogdonovich tries to scramble into a better position, but Tracey grabs an arm and tries to lock a hold in. Bogdonovich bucks him over, and manages to wind up on top, but Tracey still has the arm, and now has his legs wrapped around it. Bogdonovich hits a flurry of left hands to the back and thighs of Tracey, who is almost upside down now. It's no good though, as Bogdonovich cannot get his arm free, and as soon as Tracey starts to sink the hold in fully, there's no choice but to tap out. The official time of the armbar submission is 2:42 of round 3.

Kendall Tracey ($1,400) beat Jerry Bogdonovich ($2,500) by Submission in 2:42 of round 3. (1 star)

Middle Heavyweight Match
#3 Shane Gilchrist (12-3) vs. Derek South (2-1)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground.
Blurcat Prediction: Shane Gilchrist via T.K.O.

Round 1
The fighters come together right in the center. South throws out a jab, but Gilchrist bobs out of the way and uses a right hand to glance a blow off the side of the ribs in response. Gilchrist works an angle and storms in suddenly with three crisp jabs and a looping overhand punch, South covered up quickly but at least one of the jabs hit home. Gilchrist is making South look sluggish in comparison, such is the speed and crispness with which he is delivering strikes. South hits a low kick before back-pedalling to avoid a clubbing blow. South pushes Gilchrist up against the ropes and clinches. Nothing comes from it. They meet in the center to exchange a flurry of strikes that gets the crowd on their feet. Gilchrist got slightly the better of it, he definitely snuck through a right hand that rocked South slightly. South initiates a clinch, and the action grinds to a halt. South looks out of ideas, he is being repeatedly lured into these exchange of strikes, but Gilchrist is clearly winning them. South needs to find some way to deal with them. Not much time left in this round. The referee separates them. Gilchrist tries a speculative high kick, but South saw it coming and was well out of range by the time it came. South tries to work an angle, but Gilchrist is having none of it and fires off a straight right hand to keep him from stepping in. Comfortable round for Gilchrist, he will probably be disappointed not to have done more damage given his dominance of the striking in this round. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Gilchrist.

Round 2
A fizzing right hand from Gilchrist opens the round; it didn't find its intended target of South's chin, but it did land hard on the left shoulder instead. South fights back with a jab, but takes a hard shot to the body after leaning in too far. Gilchrist pins him to the ropes with a quick burst, and unloads with lefts and rights. South looks for a moment like he may be about to get overwhelmed, especially after a right hand appears to hit flush on the chin, but he recovers well and works his way back to the center. Gilchrist is looking the more confident of the two by far. He smells blood, and comes in looking for a big right hand, only to walk right into a takedown. South had to time that perfectly, and did. Gilchrist doesn't pull guard, instead scrambling, ending up onto his knees, with South taking his back! South tries to go for a choke, but Gilchrist bucks and twists, scrambling back to his feet and backing off. A big right hand and a high kick prevent South from following too closely. After that frenetic minute of action, things die down, with the fighters circling. Gilchrist scores with two leg kicks, South hits a tasty right hand to the body, but otherwise nothing much happens for the next couple of exchanges. Indeed, the clock runs down and the round ends without further noteworthy events. The second round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Gilchrist.

Round 3
They circle each other. South misses with a low kick, and Gilchrist darts in to hit a jab before retreating. They come together and exchange punches, both got a few shots in. Gilchrist is looking much lighter on his feet, and keeps moving in, hitting a few punches, then getting back out of range. South is trying to catch him coming in, but doesn't have the timing quite right. It happens again. Gilchrist isn't getting much power on the punches, but he is getting ahead on points. South tries to get in close, but Gilchrist is keeping moving, and isn't letting himself get cornered. Gilchrist with a body shot. Gilchrist gets a solid punch in, catching South just above the left eye. South finally gets a clinch, forcing Gilchrist up against the ropes, but it's too little, too late as the round ends. End of round 3. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Gilchrist. The official scores are: 30-27 from all three judges for Shane Gilchrist.

Shane Gilchrist ($5,300) beat Derek South ($500) by Unanimous Decision in 10:00 of round 3. (1 star)

Light Heavyweight Match
#4 Petey Mack (7-2) vs. #3 Curt Kitson (12-4)
Neither fighter has a strong advantage when standing or on the ground.
Blurcat Prediction: Petey Mack via submission.

Round 1
Kitson throws the first punch of the round, a high searching jab that didn't carry a great deal of threat with it. Mack throws a one-two combination in return, neither connecting, then steps in and delivers a hard kick to the outside of the thigh. Kitson steps back, throwing a right hand as he does to buy himself space. They circle, then move in again to exchange strikes, neither fighter getting a clear advantage. They come together again and the same result. It has become something of a stalemate at the moment. They come together to exchange strikes for the third time, and this time they wind up in a clinch. Mack hits a knee to the ribs. A couple of shots to the back from Kitson. They struggle all the way back, with Kitson ending up backed up against the ropes. Mack hits another knee, but there wasn't much power behind it. Kitson stomps downward onto his foot. Kitson manages to reverse their positions, but that only lasts about thirty seconds before it gets reversed once more. Mack gets an arm free and tries to throw a big shot to the cheek, Kitson ducks under it and gets the arm back under control. The referee finally breaks them up, and we're back to where we started. Kitson tries a high kick to start, but Mack saw it coming and easily avoids it. They come back together in the center, and it's Mack who gets the first sustained attack of the round, hitting two hard body shots and a jab that caught Kitson on the nose. Kitson hits a straight right, enough to stop Mack from following up any further. The time expires with them standing. Not a great round for either of them or the crowd, it was very scrappy. The round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Mack by 10-9.

Round 2
Mack hits some tentative punches, then comes in fast and forces Kitson to back up against the ropes, where they clinch. Mack hits a nice body shot, but takes two short punches to the side of the head in return. Kitson tries a trip, but it doesn't go anywhere. They separate, with Mack having to stay sharp to avoid a scorching right hand from Kitson. The two fighters come together in the center. Mack leads with a left, but Kitson easily avoids it and comes in close to throw some body shots. It all gets a bit scrappy, but it ends with Kitson falling to the ground. Replays show that Mack did catch him with a jab, but it clearly did very little damage, Kitson had already stumbled while taking a step backward. Regardless of how it happened though, Kitson is down, and Mack is quick to rush in to capitalise. Mack starts raining down punches, and Kitson is forced to cover up and simply try to weather the storm. Mack traps Kitson's left arm between his legs, and has him in crucifix position. Kitson is wide open. Mack starts smashing down on him with elbows and fists, using his left arm to keep Kitson from bringing his own right arm in to cover up. More punches connect, and Kitson can't do anything at all. The referee tells him to defend himself, but Kitson simply can't. Mack fires off a brutal elbow with venom, and Kitson took it full on the chin. He's out like a light, the referee pulls Mack off, the match is over. Mack wins via 2nd round knock out with the official time being 4:31.

Petey Mack ($5,300) beat Curt Kitson ($3,000) by Knock Out in 4:31 of round 2. (2 stars)

Lightweight Title Main Event
#3 Jamie Hewitt (4-1) vs. #1 Marko Prochazka (13-3)
Prochazka has a 5-inch height advantage. Hewitt is at a physical disadvantage.
Blurcat Prediction: Jamie Hewitt via T.K.O.

Round 1
Hewitt and Procházka circle to start. Procházka throws a couple of looping punches, neither hitting, while Hewitt sits back, waiting for an opportunity to attack. Procházka comes in closer, looking to unload with a right hand; that misses, and it allows Hewitt to slip a nice jab in, catching Procházka just underneath the right eye. Hewitt comes in and scores with a straight left, then bounces a right hand off the body. Procházka misses with a right cross, then backs off. Hewitt stalks him, forcing Procházka back up against the ropes. Hewitt doesn't rush in, instead standing back and throwing the occasional punch. Procházka throws a big left hand in response, but it misses by quite a margin. Hewitt pounces, hitting lefts and rights. Procházka covers up from the first two punches, then clinches up to prevent any more coming in. They're up against the ropes, Hewitt in the dominant position. They remain that way as the time ticks down. Hewitt throws the occasional knee, but can't really do much with his arms tied up like that. The referee finally tells them to break, and they return to the center. That clinch ate up a lot of time though. Procházka comes in hard and fast, bobbing and weaving, and throws a couple of big shots. Hewitt parries them with his gloves and scores with a well-executed counter punch, hitting just above the eye. They come in close again, throwing punches, but wind up clinched again. The time expires with them like that, and that round will definitely go down in Hewitt's favour. The first round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Hewitt.

Round 2
Slow start; nearly a full minute of circling, occasional fakes, and long-range jabs. Neither fighter is creating much. Hewitt works an angle, but takes a low kick to the shin when he advances. They clinch, and end up with Procházka backed up against the ropes. Hewitt gets a couple of right hands to the body, but his attempts at knee strikes are deflected by Procházka, who uses his legs well to defend. Hewitt pulls free and takes a step back, then powers in a right hand. Procházka gets out the way, ducks under a second right hand, and backs up to the center. Hewitt follows, and we're back to circling. Uninspiring action so far, they've both been fairly devoid of inspiration. Hewitt hits a couple of right hands, both hitting gloves, then a left hand to the body that connected. That was the best shot of the round so far. Procházka tags him with a flicked jab to the cheek, but it had virtually no power on it. Procházka leans in to a looping left, but it puts him off balance and it's only at the last second that he gets his chin out of the way of a vicious right cross that comes back. If that had hit, we may have had a knock out. Time runs out with them standing, circling again. End of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Hewitt by 10-9.

Round 3
Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Procházka puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Hewitt defended well. Straight right from Hewitt in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Procházka probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Hewitt gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Procházka. The round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Procházka.

Round 4
Hewitt leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Procházka deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Procházka uses a knee to the ribs before backing Hewitt up against the ropes. Right hand from Hewitt connects though, that was well timed. Procházka breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Hewitt was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Procházka sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Hewitt fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Procházka steps back, and Hewitt comes after him , sensing an opening. Procházka suddenly puts the brakes on and swings for the fences, driving a right hand to the chin. Hewitt couldn't get out of the way in time and takes it full force. He goes down like a puppet with his strings cut, he is out cold. Procházka goes to follow up to be sure, but the referee cuts him off, calling a halt to the match. Procházka wins via 4th round knock out with the official time being 6:31. Marko Procházka retains the OMEGA Lightweight title.

Marko Prochazka ($5,300) beat Jamie Hewitt ($1,000) by Knock Out in 6:31 of round 4 to retain the OMEGA Lightweight title. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 464 for an estimated live gate of $27,580. The fighters earned a total of $24,300. The fans went home happy having gotten their money's worth from the night's action. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.

A knock out victory for Prochazka over a leaving fighter is a very good outcome.

ALPHA-1 has now signed Uwe Maier to an exclusive contract. With the upcoming loss of 3 fighters to ALPHA-1, and letting the contracts run out for a few of my losing fighters, I think it might be best to reload my current roster with new male fighters, instead of hiring female fighters. I could still change my mind, or do both as long as I continue to increase my cash.

Also, a news report stated that the Asian economy is about to enter a terrible slump, which could last up to a couple of years. The economy had been below average and in decline for most of the last year, so this is more bad news. It might not impact me too much, since I am still growing the company and attendance has been small.

OMEGA 15 (Southern Asia)

Heavyweight Match
#4 Manol Sirakov (5-7) vs. #5 Mugur Boc (4-1)
Boc has the advantage on the ground with his ground and pound skills.
Blurcat Prediction: Mugur Boc via knock out.

Round 1
Boc works an angle and comes in from the side of Sirakov, getting two good jabs in before a ragged left misses by quite a margin. Sirakov hits a low kick to back Boc against the ropes, then works the body with a series of short punches. Boc fights out and the action returns to the center. Sirakov steps back to avoid a straight left. Boc comes in to try it again, and gets caught with a lovely hook. Boc goes down hard, but isn't out, just stunned. Sirakov quickly mounts him before he can shake it off, and unloads with punches. The referee is very quickly in there and pulls Sirakov off, giving him the win. Replays show the referee was right to do so, Boc took three nasty looking shots in a row from the mount. The official time is 2:22.

Manol Sirakov ($1,800) beat Mugur Boc ($1,000) by T.K.O. in 2:22 of round 1. (1 star)

Lightweight Match
Datuk Ong Ka Ting (1-2) vs. #3 Taufik Wijaya (33-18-2)
Datuk has the advantage on the ground.
Blurcat Prediction: Datuk Ong Ka Ting via submission.

Round 1
There is some tentative circling to begin with, before they meet in the center for the first action of the round. It's a tight affair, both fighters heavily using the jab, but Datuk looks to get the better of it, landing with one crisp strike to the face in particular. Wijaya backs off, a little shaken. Replays show that it landed right on the nose. Datuk press the action, forcing Wijaya back against the ropes and upping the tempo with rapid-fire lefts and rights, bobbing and weaving at the same time to keep from getting caught with a counter punch. Wijaya clinches up. Datuk is displaying a much more accomplished and confident striking game than Wijaya, the technique and speed with which the punches are being delivered is leaving Wijaya looking ragged in comparison. The pattern continues once they've been separated, with Datuk looking the sharper of the two. He isn't overwhelming Wijaya by any means, but he is comfortably controlling the pace and tempo of the round, and preventing Wijaya from stamping any sort of mark on it. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Datuk.

Round 2
Wijaya comes out fast, but gets hit with a counter right hand strike when he throws a left hand which was too high. Datuk moves in and hits a nice body shot before they clinch. Wijaya gets in a short, sharp jab to the side of the head, it looked to hit right on the ear. Datuk didn't like that, and scores with two knee strikes and a punch to the cheek. They break apart. Datuk swings and hits a nice right hand. Wijaya fires off a series of sharp jabs, all hitting gloves. He throws out a looping left, but gets tagged with a punch to the jaw and stumbles to the ground! Datuk dives in to finish him off, but he scrambles back up quickly and they end up facing off on their feet again. Replays show that the punch barely connected, it was more of a stumble on Wijaya's part than anything else. It might not look that way to the judges though. Datuk looks more confident after that, and puts together a nice chain of strikes, ending with a scathing low kick that catches Wijaya on the outside of the calf. He definitely felt that. Time is running out; Datuk will probably take this round on the judges' score cards, primarily due to that one dubious knock down. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Datuk by 10-9.

Round 3
The round starts. They touch gloves. Wijaya throws a rapid-fire series of punches, forcing Datuk to back off. Datuk throws a nice kick that thumps into the rib cage. Another kick is thrown, this time aimed at the head, but Wijaya sees it coming and steps back. Datuk advances and they meet in the center. Wijaya ducks a right hand, scores with a left to the gut. Datuk throws a one-two combination, neither connecting, but it does allow him to follow up with a stinging kick to the ribs. A big red mark has appeared there. Wijaya bursts forward and goes for a big swing, Datuk ducks under it, hits a right to the chest, then unloads another kick. This one hits the thigh, causing Wijaya to noticeably wince. It may have caught the very top of the knee judging from the replays. Wijaya tries to come in to get a measure of revenge, but is met with some low kicks that make sure that he can't get close enough to throw any bombs. Datuk's impressively sharp kicking game is hurting Wijaya and allowing him to take firm control of this round. There's not much time left, and Wijaya is going to have to do something special to win this round now. He doesn't, as time expires without anything interesting happening. The round ends. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Datuk. The official scores are: 30-27 (twice), 29-28 for Datuk Ong Ka Ting.

Datuk Ong Ka Ting ($4,400) beat Taufik Wijaya ($3,000) by Unanimous Decision in 10:00 of round 3. (1 star)

Middleweight Title Match
#1 Xie Ming (6-0) vs. #4 Davis Spyrou (15-6)
Spyrou has the advantage on the ground with his submissions.
Blurcat Prediction: Davis Spyrou via submission.

Round 1
Spyrou leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Ming deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Ming uses a knee to the ribs before backing Spyrou up against the ropes. Right hand from Spyrou connects though, that was well timed. Ming breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Spyrou was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Ming sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Spyrou fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Ming makes Spyrou back up against the ropes by throwing some looping punches. He comes in closer and hits a right hook to the body, getting a jab to the cheek in return. Ming throws another two punches, both to the body, then steps back to avoid an uppercut. Spyrou lets fly with a scorching punch though, and it catches Ming by surprise, putting him down! Spyrou follows up and starts raining down right hands. Ming covers up as best he can, but it's not enough as the referee pulls Spyrou off, the match is over. Official time of the TKO is 6:49 of the first. Davis Spyrou is now the OMEGA Middleweight champion.

Davis Spyrou ($5,300) beat Xie Ming ($3,000) by T.K.O. in 6:49 of round 1 to win the OMEGA Middleweight title. (2 stars)

Light Heavyweight Title Main Event
#1 Nicolai Mickiewicz (11-1) vs. #2 Percy Catcher (8-2)
Mickiewicz has the advantage on the ground.
Blurcat Prediction: Nicolai Mickiewicz via knock out.

Round 1
Mickiewicz is forced onto the backfoot almost immediately, having to retreat to avoid a series of sharp jabs. He ends up with his back to the ropes, with Catcher advancing. A sharp right misses, and Mickiewicz takes the opportunity to pull Catcher in to a tight clinch against the ropes. Catcher tries to break free, but cannot. It looks like we know the strategies for this round already; Catcher wants to stand and bang, Mickiewicz wants to keep things at close quarters. Catcher tries for an elbow, but only succeeds in getting turned around so that he is now the one against the ropes. Trip from Mickiewicz, and we're down to the ground. Mickiewicz has side control, but Catcher has landed with his left hand side against the ropes, so that side of the body is basically safe for now. Mickiewicz will have to try to work the right-hand side, and starts by ramming a knee into the ribs. Catcher tries to squirm into a better position, but Mickiewicz puts a stop to that with a stiff elbow to the stomach. Mickiewicz tries to work a kimura on the right arm, but Catcher defends it. Catcher manages to bring a knee up and catch Mickiewicz in the side, something of a cheeky move given his position. Mickiewicz responds with five or six rapid-fire right hands to the face, but Catcher covers up and doesn't take any serious damage at all. Time is ticking away though, and so far Mickiewicz may be easily winning the round, but he is not taking full advantage of this great position. Mickiewicz tries to float over into a mount, but Catcher uses the ropes to push away and manages to unbalance Mickiewicz enough to get to a kneeling position, then standing, albeit back into a clinch. A knee from Mickiewicz is the last action of the round. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Mickiewicz by 10-9.

Round 2
Right hand from Mickiewicz was thrown with power, but bounced off the gloves of Catcher. Mickiewicz follows up by coming in close, but Catcher is ready with a straight right hand that glances off the side of the head. They come together, both throwing punches. Mickiewicz gets a nice clean shot in, and Catcher stumbles backwards and falls to the floor. Mickiewicz is on top of him quickly, and unloads with two more big punches, both connect solidly. The referee jumps in and pulls him away before a third is thrown, this match is over by TKO. Replays show the referee may have been slightly early. The official time of the TKO is 1:33 of round 2. Nicolai Mickiewicz is now the OMEGA Light Heavyweight champion.

Nicolai Mickiewicz ($5,300) beat Percy Catcher ($2,000) by T.K.O. in 1:33 of round 2 to win the OMEGA Light Heavyweight title. (2 stars)

The announced attendance was 501 for an estimated live gate of $29,820. The fighters earned a total of $25,800. The general feeling amongst the fans was that the show was a good one. The show has resulted in the promotion gaining popularity in one region.
