Silva Takes Best Bat Trophy in April
Wednesday, May 1st, 2080: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 30-year-old Reynaldo Silva put together a solid offensive month for Washington and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .353 with 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 16 runs scored.


RL's Best Batter Announced
Wednesday, May 1st, 2080: In April, António Mercado was the toughest out in the Republic League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Batter of the Month.

The Cleveland left fielder rapped out 42 hits in 109 at-bats for a .385 batting average, hit 7 home runs, drove in 24 runs and scored 21 times.

CL Selects Anaya April's Best Starter
Wednesday, May 1st, 2080: Veteran Jaime Anaya put together quite a successful stretch in April for the St Louis Hops, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Anaya racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 1.61 ERA over 44.2 innings and striking out 26.


Cruz RL Winner, Top Hurler in April
Wednesday, May 1st, 2080: Enrico Cruz took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award for April.

The 23-year-old Wildcats starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 4-0 won-lost record in 6 starts. This month he fanned 37 batters in 41.1 innings and compiled a 1.52 ERA.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2080: Orlando Durán was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 22-year-old third baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 27 games Durán batted .267 for Havana, slapping 27 hits in 101 at-bats with 3 home runs, drove in 13 runs and scored 15 times.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2080: Ramón González is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the Ann Arbor hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .296 average with 34 hits, no home runs and 11 RBIs.

Salamanca Takes Best Bat Award in May
Saturday, June 1st, 2080: It was a good month for St Louis Hops shortstop Claudio Salamanca, May's Continental League Batter of the Month.

Salamanca starred by hitting .343 with a .414 on-base percentage. He totaled 34 hits in 99 at-bats, 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 30 runs.

For the season Salamanca is currently batting .329 with 15 home runs and 41 RBIs. In 53 games he has reached base at a .390 rate and scored 50 runs to date.


Connor Grabs RL Best Batter Award for May
Saturday, June 1st, 2080: The hard-hitting catcher from New York, Ed Connor, wielded a big bat in May and was hailed as the Republic League Batter of the Month.

He hit a healthy .300 with 15 home runs, 27 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

This year Connor has hit at a .256 pace and produced 41 RBIs, 21 home runs and scored 36 runs.

Continental League Picks Best Starter in May
Saturday, June 1st, 2080: Conrad Wiggins's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in May, the 34-year-old Plantana hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 35 in 41.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.74 and allowed opponents to hit .164 against him.

Wiggins has a 7-1 season record so far. In 11 starts, he has fanned 72 batters in 79 innings with a 1.48 ERA


Osorio Grabs RL Top Pitcher Trophy
Saturday, June 1st, 2080: A standout performance in May earned Marcos Osorio the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Republic League. When his name was penciled in to start by the Cleveland skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month the Naps star racked up 4 wins and no losses.

In 34.1 innings of work, Osorio limited opposing batters to 22 base hits and a .175 batting average. He notched 31 strikeouts, issued 13 walks and had a 1.57 ERA.

On the season Osorio has 6 wins and 1 loss and a 2.11 ERA.

May's Top CL Rookie Named
Saturday, June 1st, 2080: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Bob Pinch just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.

Over the past month the 25-year-old catcher for St Louis hit .292 with 28 hits, 9 home runs and 25 RBI. He also logged 11 walks and compiled a .361 on-base percentage.

Pinch is batting .260 with 13 home runs and 39 RBIs this season.


Newcomer of the Month Picked
Saturday, June 1st, 2080: Youngster Ramón González emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Ann Arbor deserved the honor, batting .284 with no home runs and 11 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let González enjoy the limelight.

González is hitting .290 for the season with no home runs, 22 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has 65 hits in 224 at-bats and played in 55 games.

McCormick Awarded June's CL Top Bat Prize
Monday, July 1st, 2080: Bobby McCormick was declared the Continental League Batter of the Month today. London's first baseman stroked 42 hits in 114 at-bats for a .368 average in June.

He also hit 7 home runs, drove in 20 and scored 25 runs.

On the year McCormick has hit .301 with 14 home runs, 61 RBIs and scored 73 runs.


Republic League Selects June's Best Batter
Monday, July 1st, 2080: The top hitter in the Republic League in June was Spring right fielder Harry Latour.

He was selected the Batter of the Month after batting .374, hitting 4 home runs, scoring 19 runs and driving in 20.

This season Latour is batting .333 with 57 RBIs, 48 runs scored and 8 home runs.

Urquidez Gets CL #1 Pitcher Trophy
Monday, July 1st, 2080: When Ernesto Urquidez takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the St Cloud Raindrops. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and 1.38 ERA in 7 starts. In 39 innings, he fanned 41 and walked 13.
That's why he was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Continental League.

For this year Urquidez has chalked up 8 wins and 7 losses in 21 starts with 95 strikeouts in 106 innings and a 3.14 ERA.


Naps Hurler Named June's Top Starter
Monday, July 1st, 2080: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Stephen Walker still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 32-year-old starter for Cleveland was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and 1 loss with 42 strikeouts in his 7 starts, putting up a fine 1.43 ERA in 44 innings of work.

On the year Walker has worked 128 innings with 93 strikeouts en route to a 9-4 record and 2.32 ERA.

Pinch Voted June's Top Rookie
Monday, July 1st, 2080: Bob Pinch earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish St Louis catcher might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Pinch hit .277 with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 17 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Presently Pinch is batting .266 with 21 home runs and 63 RBIs. He has played in 79 games and scored 50 times.


First Baseman Honored by RL
Monday, July 1st, 2080: Danny Bargenquast's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Cleveland first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .306 with 6 doubles, 1 triple and 8 home runs. Bargenquast also scored 16 times and drove in 29 runs.

So far this season Bargenquast is batting .258 with 14 home runs, 55 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 82 hits in 318 at-bats, 25 walks and a .311 OBP. Bargenquast has played in 82 games.

July's Best Batter Announced
Thursday, August 1st, 2080: Free agent-to-be Alejandro Fuentes has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Continental League Batter of the Month.

In July, the 25-year-old Plantana shortstop hit .370 with 3 home runs and 20 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

This year Fuentes has hit at a .283 pace and produced 52 RBIs, 10 home runs and scored 46 runs.


July's RL Batter of Month Award Announced
Thursday, August 1st, 2080: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Matias Pilon can still get it done in FOOL-X. In fact, the 33-year-old center fielder for New York was named the Republic League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In July he batted .326 with 6 home runs, 27 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Pilon is batting .325 with 12 home runs and 71 RBIs this season.

Thursday, August 1st, 2080: As Javier García hoisted up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy for July, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Oshawa once his contract is up at the end of the season.

García put pressure on the Mullets to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 0.25 over 35.2 innings last month. He also rolled up 26 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Oshawa and to every other team in the league.

This season García has crafted a 8-7 mark with a 2.82 ERA in 134 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .236 against him and he has 96 strikeouts.


Bullpen Ace Wins Best RL Pitcher
Thursday, August 1st, 2080: Juan Carrillo was the anchor in the New York bullpen last month and snatched up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors for July. The 32-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 13.1 innings over 12 relief appearances and collected a 2-0 record with 20 strikeouts and 9 saves while etching his 2.03 ERA.

Thus far this season Carrillo has saved 26 games. His won-lost mark is 7 wins and 2 losses with 76 strikeouts in 58.2 innings, along with a 2.45 ERA.

Rookie Reels In Continental League Award
Thursday, August 1st, 2080: In July John Murdoch swatted his way to the Rookie of the Month Award in the Continental League by putting up a .391 batting average.

The Oshawa Mullets first baseman also racked up 34 hits, no home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 7 runs.

Murdoch is hitting .301 for the season with 6 home runs, 45 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 104 hits in 346 at-bats and played in 99 games.

Thursday, August 1st, 2080: The premier Republic League rookie in July was Ann Arbor's second baseman Ramón González.

CL Honors Cruz, #1 Batter in August
Sunday, September 1st, 2080: Miguel Cruz battered Continental League pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 33-year-old Cruz told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, Cruz hit .280 with 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and scored 19 runs.

For the year Cruz has hit .264 with 27 home runs, 106 RBIs and scored 74 runs.


Ron Booker Selected August's Best Batter
Sunday, September 1st, 2080: It was a good month for New York Legends center fielder Ron Booker, August's Republic League Batter of the Month.

Booker starred by hitting .318 with a .358 on-base percentage. He totaled 35 hits in 110 at-bats, 7 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 18 runs.

So far this season, Booker has recorded a .294 batting average with 160 hits, 26 home runs, 113 RBIs, 76 runs scored and a .345 OBP.

CL's #1 Starter is Gregory
Sunday, September 1st, 2080: It was a very good month for Bernardo Gregory in August. The 35-year-old veteran starter for the St Louis Hops outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today.

Gregory ran up a 5-0 record in his 5 starts during the month. In 33.2 innings he fanned 40 and recorded a 1.87 ERA.

So far this year Gregory has a 13-5 record with a 3.40 ERA.


RL Announces Best Pitcher for August
Sunday, September 1st, 2080: Juan Carrillo is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Republic League Pitcher of the Month for August.

He made 12 relief appearances for New York last month, throwing 12 innings and collecting 10 saves, a 1-0 record, 10 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.
