Monday, May 1st, 2141: For a rookie just breaking in, Francisco Martínez certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the CL Batter of the Month award for April.

The 20-year-old left fielder for the Halifax Winter Wolves hit .318 with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Hammersmith's Bonce Chosen RL Batter of the Month
Monday, May 1st, 2141: Armando Bonce battered Republic League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Bonce told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 25 games, Bonce hit .360 with 10 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Monday, May 1st, 2141: Youngster Francisco Martínez emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Halifax deserved the honor, batting .318 with 8 home runs and 24 runs batted in. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Martínez enjoy the limelight.

RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Monday, May 1st, 2141: Greg Spence was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 22 games Spence batted .352 for Toronto, slapping 25 hits in 71 at-bats with 4 home runs, drove in 17 runs and scored 11 times.

CL Choice for Batter of the Month is Moore
Thursday, June 1st, 2141: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today Cory Moore helped his contract negotiations by nabbing May's Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

The Napa Valley center fielder put together a .315 batting average with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if Moore continues at this brisk pace.

Moore is currently batting .293 with 13 home runs, 42 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 58 hits in 198 at-bats.

RL Announces Best Batter Award
Thursday, June 1st, 2141: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 32-year-old Jayden Dilnot put together a solid offensive month for Toronto and was crowned May's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .358 with 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

For the year Dilnot is batting .325 with 63 hits and 13 home runs. He has scored 41 times and driven in 45.

Continental League Premier Pitcher is Torres
Thursday, June 1st, 2141: Rafael Torres is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Continental League Pitcher of the Month for May.

He made 16 relief appearances for Napa Valley last month, throwing 21.1 innings and collecting 9 saves, a 2-0 record, 24 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.

Torres has 26 relief appearances this year with 13 saves. Torres has also compiled a 3-1 won-lost mark with a 0.53 ERA. In 34 innings he has fanned 36.

Hammersmith Starter Selected Best Pitcher
Thursday, June 1st, 2141: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Pancho Flores still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 29-year-old starter for Hammersmith was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 31 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.90 ERA in 42.2 innings of work.

Flores has gone 5-3 this season with an ERA of 3.89 and 48 strikeouts in 69.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .283 against him.

Apex Left Fielder Best CL Rookie
Thursday, June 1st, 2141: Roberto Muńóz is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Apex hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .393 average with 24 hits, 4 home runs and 13 RBIs.

This season Muńóz has hit 7 home runs and posted a .319 batting average.

Colorado Rookie Hits His Way to RL Honor
Thursday, June 1st, 2141: When it came to hitting the baseball, Bob Young had few peers in the Republic League last month. The gifted designated hitter for Colorado tagged opposing pitchers for a .368 average and was voted the Rookie of the Month for May.

Included in his stats were 35 hits, 5 homers, 21 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

Young is presently hitting at a .285 pace with 8 home runs and 24 RBIs. He has played in 47 games and scored 27 times.

Torrid June Gets Moore CL #1 Batter Trophy
Saturday, July 1st, 2141: Cory Moore is in the final year of his contract with Napa Valley and today added a timely piece of hardware to his trophy case. Playing in 24 games in June the 30-year-old center fielder ripped Continental League pitchers for a .333 batting average, nabbing him the Batter of the Month award.

He also rang up 7 home runs, 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

If Moore keeps up this pace, he'll cost someone a lot of money.

Thus far this year Moore has hit .306 with 20 home runs and 60 RBIs

Nathan Hutchinson Selected June's Best Batter
Saturday, July 1st, 2141: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Nathan Hutchinson can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 33-year-old right fielder for Toronto was named the Republic League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In June he batted .342 with 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

So far in 2141 Hutchinson is batting .325 with 9 home runs, 57 RBIs and 58 runs scored. He has 105 hits in 323 at-bats and a .399 OBP.

June's Best CL Hurler is Shirley
Saturday, July 1st, 2141: Joe Shirley has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in June and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Winemakers bullpen ace collected 2 saves and 16 strikeouts in 23 innings, holding the opposition to a .185 average and posting a 0.78 ERA and a 4-0 record.

This year Shirley has registered 3 saves in 39 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 7-0 won-lost mark with a 1.56 ERA. In 57.2 innings he has fanned 52.

Chico Starter Named RL's Premier Pitcher
Saturday, July 1st, 2141: Last month was a very good one for Tony López of Chico. So good that he has been picked as the Pitcher of the Month in the Republic League.

López throttled league hitters the entire month, completing June with an impressive 4-1 mark and a 2.84 ERA in 5 starts with 32 strikeouts in 38 innings.

To date this season López is 11-5 with 16 starts and an ERA of 2.74 with 96 strikeouts in 121.1 innings.

Coleman Named CL's Best Rookie
Saturday, July 1st, 2141: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Dave Coleman just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for June.

Over the past month the 24-year-old first baseman for Apex hit .296 with 29 hits, 3 home runs and 23 runs batted in. He also logged 6 walks and compiled a .375 on-base percentage.

This year Coleman is hitting .286, produced 58 RBIs and 9 home runs, scored 36 times and gotten on base at a .386 rate.

Spence Voted RL's #1 Rookie
Saturday, July 1st, 2141: Greg Spence earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Toronto first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Spence hit .323 with 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Presently Spence is batting .325 and has collected 16 home runs, 63 RBIs, .415 OBP and scored 44 runs.

Well, THAT was unexpected.

But if you're going to be bad, might as well get #1 overall!

Again, it's our offense that carries us. We do have some absolute studs hitting this year, but our pitching is week. Hyde's pitching makes ours look like a AAA squad. Hopefully, we can just outscore you guys.

Good luck playoff teams

Too busy lately. Holidays, work, and my back went out...

Any thoughts of taking a break for a couple weeks due to holidays?

We just took a break for Thanksgiving.

I assumed right around Christmas we would at least take a week off, if not two.

I understand taking a break for Christmas around Christmas time, but taking a month off would really suck.

Sorry been so busy because the wife is on vacation for 2 weeks. Yea its not as nice as it sounds. We will discuss the holiday break very soon. I guess now is a great time to get your ideas. I know I don't want a month off after having the long break we had.

Also I've asked for help in setting up statslab (export tracker is greatly needed) because I can't seem to get it. I'm a sports person so this website stuff is not something I can pick up easily. I will but it will take time.

I know Lynchy and I have already discussed this between us.

I don't really want to speak for him, but I've found it difficult to get "back in the swing" of FOOL/X with the long layoff and then a week off for Thanksgiving shortly after.

To me, taking two weeks off is not a good idea at all. I can understand one week, maybe that week between Christmas and New Years? (Dec 26-30)
