We got to our best bowl game in our history and beat the #3 Ohio St. Buckeyes! That's a big step for our program. Recruiting went very well, the games went well, and we're definitely headed towards big things. We finish the season #11.

2015/2016 Recruiting Review

Major Needs:

Offensive Line: I just need some better overall depth.

Linebacker: I need one MLB and one OLB.

Guard: Same as tackle.

Strong Safety: My starter is a JR and his backups are pretty bad. I'd love to get a guy here.

Kicker/Punter: Yep.

Offensive Line: We definitely accomplished our goal for the OL. We got a future starting LT and a future starting LG, as well as a solid JUCO player as a backup.

Linebacker: We end up with two MLB's who look like they could be decent starters, and we got a really special looking OLB.

Strong Safety: Love the guy we got here. He should be ready to start by next year.

Kicker/Punter: We landed a decent punter and moved him to kicker and let a walk on come in to punt.

Wide Receiver: I have two SR's, and the future starters are all sophomores. I'd love to get some guys to redshirt now and take over when those guys leave.

Tight End: Our starter Southall is leaving after the season, and Holmes is already a JR. I need a player here for the future.

And here we are at the start of another season! This is the highest we've been ranked, and our QB is just getting his college career started. The next few years should be pretty exciting.

We start off as usual making offers to as many players as possible, with a focus on the ones that list us currently as their favorite school. We have a few 5* recruits who list us #1, so who knows...we may get lucky.

Woo! The second recruit we talk to is 5* DE Reggie Ford. He's so excited by our offer that he commits immediately!

He's the only one that commits, but getting a 5* recruit this early is amazing and will save us a ton of time in the future.

Now, I went through from the top to the bottom of the board and offered as many scholarships as possible, making sure to get at least one player from each position.

We start the 2016 season on the right foot.

Ford, in his starting debut, went 24-30 for 313 yards and FIVE touchdowns!

Our running game was solid, with Mack and Torrey splitting time. Mack ran for 98 yards, Torrey ran for 57.

Brown continued where he left off, picking up 104 receiving yards on 7 receptions. Southall also went over 100 yards receiving.

On defense, Tremblay had a great game, picking off two passes. Ratliff, Dukes, and Wright each had a sack.

First thing to do: Offer everyone else a scholarship. I only have a couple left.

Then, I start setting up some visits with players, scheduling them to Week 4 when we play Virginia.

We're going into the Big House! Michigan is always a dangerous team, especially at home.

But we take care of them easily. Ford was awesome, going 20-29 for 257 yards and 4 TD's.

On the ground, Mack took over today and ran 21 times for 142 yards.

Cantrell did great, catching 4 passes for 72 yards and a TD. The true stud of the receiving game today was a running back, Torrey, who caught 3 passes for 89 yards and 3 TD's.

On defense, we had three sacks but no INT's.

Final Score: Rutgers 36, Michigan 7

Recruiting:

A few players dropped us a spot this week, but no one at the top of the board. After this week, we'll get a good sense of who wants to come here and who is just getting a feel for things. There's nothing worse than wasting time on a recruit only to have him drop you, so we take things conservatively.

Anyway, this week we'll set up more visits for next week's game against Virginia and then go through position by position.

We spent the majority of time on the offensive side this week, so next week we'll hit the defensive side hard.

Ford got limited time, only throwing 8 passes, but he still picked up 2 TD's.

Mack ran for 171 yards on 21 carries.

We got some bad news though. Both WR Brown and WR Cantrell are out for a week and two weeks, respectively. Brown has a turf toe injury, and Cantrell sprained his ankle. We should be okay this coming week, but we play Miami in two weeks and we'll need them to be healthy.

Recruiting:

Offensive update this week.

At QB, 4* QB Mike Manning has us right behind Oklahoma St. at #2, but we're close. QB is not a huge need though.

Running back is a very nice spot for us in recruiting. We have three 5* backs in the fold, and a 4*. Two of the 5*'s and the 4* have us #1.

FB isn't looking good at all.

At TE, we have a nice lead on McAffe but Maryland is closing in.

At WR, the 5* Morroco from CT heavily favors us, and this week 5* Campbell moved us up to #1 but Alabama is close behind.

At tackle, We have 4* Cooper who has to choose between us and PSU. At guard, 4* Hunter and 4* Monts have us at #1. At Center, we lost our favorite but JUCO 4* Matt Simmons is a possibility but not likely.

As for the ATH's, both players (4*'s) have us at #1. Defensive update next week.

Cantrell had a huge game, catching 4 passes for 185 yards and 2 TD's.
