This is one of the reasons I subscribe to Sirius satellite radio.

Well, this is the reason I use my iphone. Between podcasts, pandora, and spotify I see no reason to use sirius or the regular radio. But I have the local station on in the house for background noise.

99X at 98.9 becomes 98.9/The Bone, grabs Project 9-6-1's active rock mantle | Radio & TV Talk

That's the good news. The bad news is that the Cumulus-owned 98.9 signal covers an area only slightly larger than the station parking lot.

Terrestrial Radio? Seriously? Even I had ditched that years ago for rock (which was all I had listened to anyways). I understand missing something that had been around a long time but I've seen that happened more than most of you and you get used to it. Most of my friends and colleagues (late boomers, early Xers) either do Pandora or iSomething or both. That wat we can filter out all of the noise and crappy music.

Hmm... sad news, but I hadn't listened to 96-1 for a few years. Found the college stations (esp Album 88.5) to be far more interesting.

For home use I agree, haven't listened to actual radio other than live sports in several years (although I did occasionally do the Remote Control online thing with Project). Hard to do much in the car other than terrestrial if you can't drop the bucks on XM nor afford genuinely unlimited data plans.

More change (good for you, Jon?):

99X at 98.9 becomes 98.9/The Bone, grabs Project 9-6-1's active rock mantle | Radio & TV Talk

edit: nevermind. Low Signal won't reach you. Barely reaches me.

You might want to check out 87.7

It may after tomorrow morning ... with a tiny signal 98.9 The Bone pulled a 1.1 rating on A12+ (and much higher in the male target demos), which leads to it being "merged" with Rock 100.5 at the end of tomorrow's The Regular Guys morning show. The question now is whether the new format (hybrid or otherwise) stays on the weaker 100.5 or if it moves up the dial to 106.7 and bumps the recently launched all news format down to 100.5

Looks like they've simply merged the playlists of Bone & Rock 100.5, creating what would fit pretty well into today's "Mainstream Rock" format description. The downside - for me anyway - is that the format remains on 100.5, which fizzles out about 30 miles before it gets to me.

1st ten songs
9:59 a.m. Third Day Grace "Chalks' Outline"
10:02 a.m. Metallica "Enter Sandman"
10:06 a.m. Theory of a Deadman "Bad Girlfriend"
10:11 a.m. AC/DC "Thunderstruck"
10:15 a.m. Shinedown "Bully"
10:20 a.m. Pearl Jam "Alive"
10:24 a.m. Black Crowes "Hard to Handle"
10:29 a.m. Ozzy Osborne "Shot in the Dark"
10:32 a.m. Foo Fighters "The Pretender"
10:36 a.m. Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Give it Away"
