OT: Time to break my EA boycott?

I think that time may come next week when Burnout: Revenge comes out for PS2 and Xbox. I played the hell out of my girlfriend's copy of Burnout 3, and the new one sounds like more of the same...so it may be time to end my EA boycott. It's sad, because my childish boycott was fun while it lasted, but EA's empire is just too vast. Even though I think they're just publishing the game (they did with Burnout 3), it's still got the EA mark on it. I haven't purchased an EA game since NCAA Football 2003 back in July of 2002. I sold it a few months later, and I've been EA-free since!

I think I'm still gonna try and avoid buying the EA sports games (I can rent them for free) and I'll still hate them with a passion...but come Tuesday my EA boycott will sadly end

Why did you boycott EA to begin with?

I wouldn't have any problems splitting my EA boycott into sports / non sports.

I'm glad I didn't buy ANY EA sports games this year, after the disapointments that they all were last year. It was a waste of money considering they collected dust on my shelf.

I rented NCAA Football this year and it felt like more of the same, glad I didn't get it. I haven't even touched Madden yet, but people are saying the same thing about it.

I think, with the new EA releases this year, if you didn't like the last couple, you won't like these, and if you did like the last couple, you will like the new versions. I can't get into NCAA or Madden at all but have friends who won't stop playing them.

I broke my 2 year long EA boycott with NCAA 2006, after playing it, I now vow a 3 year boycott of EA

Ohh, I had no idea a new Burnout was this close.

Any info on what's new or added? Hopefully they tweaked the god awful rubberbanding in it, extremely frustrating.

I'll be buying it, played the hell out of the 3rd one, with a focus on the crash courses and road rage, but had fun with all of it.

Mine ended with MVP 2005...but having seen Burnout Revenge, I'm fairly certain it would have ended with that release anyway.

EA Games and EA Sports are almost seperate companies as far as EA is concerned. Black from EA games looks amazing if you like FPS on consoles.

I've mentioned this in the Madden thread, but this is the first time in a really long time I'll end up "playing" multiple seasons of a football game. You do have to spend a little bit tweaking the sliders, but once you do, it's just a terrific game. I'm having a blast with it.

I feel the same way about NCAA Football. It's such an enjoyable game that I'm almost on my third season, which is rare for any sports console game and me.

I think NHL 2k6 will be the same thing. It's been a wonderful year for console sports gaming as far as I'm concerned. I still see myself playing the ps2 for quite some time.. which will allow me to wait for the ps3, so I can compare it to the Xbox 360 and purchase the best one for my console gaming tastes.

There are still PLENTY of good games coming out for the Xbox/PS2 in the coming months.

I started my EA boycott back in '02 after I was sick of their sports games and also they pissed me off my not supporting the Dreamcast.

I think they've bought too many smaller companies for me to completely boycott EA. I'm very interested in Burnout Revenge, and I think "The Movies" is also published by EA. Sigh. I have rented my EA games for free from my work (including the new NCAA), but nothing has super-wowed me. NCAA was okay, but having to mess with the sliders so much made me wanna burn things. Argh.

I own all three consoles and a decent PC and here's a list of the games I'm interested in coming soon...

UPCOMING POTENTIAL PURCHASES:

X---Burnout Revenge---------------9/14
PS2-We Love Katamari--------------9/14
X---NTRA Breeder's Cup World...---9/21
PS2-DDR Extreme 3-----------------9/28
PS2-Karaoke Revolution Party------11/9
PC--The Movies--------------------Nov.
PS2-Guitar Hero-------------------Nov.
PC--Total College Basketball------Q4
PS2-Beatmania---------------------2006

UPCOMING GAMES TO RENT:

X---X-Men Legends II--------------9/21
X---Half-Life 2-------------------10/2
X---March Madness 2006------------10/12
X---Stubbs the Zombie-------------10/18
X---The Warriors------------------10/18
X---Paintball Max'd---------------10/19
X---Bully-------------------------10/25
PS2-24: The Game------------------11/15
X---Full Spectrum Warrior 2-------2006

---

We'll see how good they all are before I put up the $$$ to buy them. For now, back to Halo 2

Hehe, I'm into fruity music games...they're my vice I'm sad that Beatmania got delayed until 2006 though

On an unrelated note, Taiko Drum Master for PS2 is now $20 at Best Buy with drum included. They even sell giftcards in-store with $5/off coupons. Anyone who likes drumming even a little should try it out. I now own two drums, and it's a blast to play when buddies are over.

Everyone...back...away...slowly...

I'm interested in this Breeder's Cup game for the X-Box as I don't have a PS2 to pick up any of the Gallop Racer series. I was surprised to see a 9/21 release date on this one as I haven't really come across any previews about it this month. Anyone have any new info on it? I'm hoping it will have some semblance of depth.

Not that this has a lot to do with this thread, but someone at EA has a hard-on for Avenged Sevenfold, as the song Bat Country will be appearing in the 3rd EA game released in the last 3 months when it appears on the SSX song listing. That song is constantly on when I boot up Madden for the PC.

The ad at work says we won't get Burnout Revenge until Thursday.

I hope the ad is wrong.

You're going to change teams twice and sue me to make sure I can't play as one of the teams you abandoned?

Burnout Revenge is in my greedy little hands and EA just notified me that they're sending me Burnout Legends.

I'm so happy I could cry.

I work at Best Buy to keep money in the bank, gas in the truck, pay for Gamenikki, etc.

I don't make any money off of Gamenikki, so while I do consider it a job (there's a significant time investment involved, plus the financial aspects of running it), it certainly isn't something I can do exclusively at this point.
