I agree with clap about slurrying their bill -- I'd rather slurry the people themselves. I dunno is slurrying Chubby will help cronin beat him -- the slurry might take effect after the vote.

That's fine -- even so, I'm leaving in 1-2 hours, and won't be back, so I'm probably not the best choice for right now, anyway.

Is there any reason I should lend creedence to their little Chubby for Speaker poke they sent my way?

I mean, in a way, they do have a point, Chubby is actually closer to me on the spectrum than Cronin is, but I'd hate to be disloyal like that to my general party.

On the other hand, what kind of target is there on the Speakers back? Would he be a candidate for a night kill at all down the road? Are they setting up Chubby as 2nd President?

I'd also thing about deke'ing them on who we attach. Like if we have 2 candidates, attach one but not the other

Well, that means we have to pick a candidate right now. I'm going to say illinifan, and then use Mrs. S as the other one. What do you guys think?

Dola, actually, it doesn't matter. Whichever two people we select only one of them can be the candidate -- they won't be able to discern our thinking anyway, so it doesn't matter.

BTW guys I'd be more careful about voting about the BG bill if you're on the conservative side of the party -- it's the most democratic role there is, and whether or not it's good for all of us, well, the voting mass doesn't always think through things that far.

So let's attach Mrs. S and someone else, maybe me (since they may think we're going with our most middle-of-the-road candidate for Pres).

Additionally, to answer a question earlier, I'd think I'm going to need the most help retaining my seat, given that my seat is closest to the middle of the aisle and it seems they're going to ping my perpetually about how it's in the best idea of my constituents to go for any centrist ideas they bring about.

I would think we would want to at least attach one of presidential candidates that way they get the support bonus, especially since I'm sure the democrats put at least one of their candidates on their bill for that bonus.

Well, ultimately we can have only two candidate -- now it's either going to be Mrs. S or illinifan, it has been decided.

Yeah, it's moot now really. But I was just thinking if they're going to split the slurry on those two, our candidate is weakened, whereas if they split the slurry with only one of our real candidates on there we'd have an untouched one which could end up being the best option.

No worries though.

Ultimately only one can be our real candidate at the end of the day. So regardless of which two we put up there we had to pick at some point. This just narrows the debate.

I don't quite think you're getting what I'm saying, but don't worry about it, it's moot. It'll likely all work out anyhow.

Well...you get to be whip, because I have to leave. Submit some slurry/support actions before you go -- I may or may not be back in time to change them in the unlikely event that the situation changes.

I'm surprised at the Dems reaction vs. our bill, I assumed today would've been a slam dunk and I didn't think we were over-reaching. Are they just posturing or is there a legit concern that this could get bumped by the Court?

Posturing, or they care more about their party winning than actually beating the wolves.

I think it is posturing. I think they are overly concerned by winning and not the wolves. Frankly, it makes me think that someone talkative and in power over there is a wolf.

Ok, as far as slurry I'm thinking one each on PF, Path and Henry

For support, I'm conversely thinking one each on Illini, Mrs. S and me

The reason I have myself and Henry in there, is that is the battlefield. If districts are assimilated by the nearest representative (I presume decided by popularity) then it's pretty clear that their multi-responder attack upon me is their attempt to unseat me and have Henry take my district so they have the majority.

Anyone else getting that read?

Realistically, they caught us a bit with our pants down. They realized they could make this play with Chubby and Cronin as the 2 candidates. I'm realistically in a very tough spot here.

If our bill is shot down or ruled out, the sponsors are going to likely need that support put back on them.

What about all 3 supports on one of those two, all 3 slurries on Henry and we aim to overtake his spot?

additionally, if we do this, I may vote Chubby for Speaker.

Heard from Lathum -- he said that they plan to have 4-5 liberal members vote no so it still passes. He also implied that he and mccollins really think the bill will be unconstitutional.

Frankly, I've been leaning voting for Chubby since the beginning. It does make sense for me, and inadvertently I was pretty stuck in this position.

Hence why I've been trying to get as many of them as possible to say Yes vote Chubby so we can work with the Republicans.

I don't know much about politics, but I know, to me at least, nothing looks worse to your voters than saying one thing and doing another.

FYI, I'm going to take a 5-minute break

Barring any reasons why I shouldn't, I'm voting Chubby as speaker when I get back

I understand if you want to do that -- my only worry is that while Chubby has a centrist district, he only has to pander to it -- he's on THEIR SIDE, in game terms. On the other hand, I don't know if I even care whether or not we have the Speaker.

That's my thinking, does it matter?

Basically, would the hit from us not having Speaker really outweigh the hit if I lost my seat to Henry? I don't know if it would, especially not since we locked him into what his bill has to be (somewhat) tomorrow.

Ok, I need to get more work done, so I'm going to put in my supports/slurries shortly.

Plan as I have it: All 3 behind 1 of the 2 we have tied to our bill. All 3 slurries to Henry.

You have 10-15 to speak up against it.

That's good news. I don't play many of these games, so I don't know if the seer role is really that overpowered that it would be deemed unconstitutional (BTW does anyone else hate spelling that word?), but it's good that if it is we can change it.

From CR:

Quote:
Ah ha. I like the out of the box thinking. The kill is a powerful weapon, though, and the seer is not a role that normally has any kill powers, even a chance at them. I think I am inclined to doubt the constitutionality of the kill power—that may be a bit too strong (even as a percentage). I am okay with the avoiding kill chance. That would certainly pass as an addendum by itself.

I say we get rid of the 25% chance that he kills the wolf, and keep the 25% chance of avoiding death. Running that by CR now.

Here you go, heinz. I guess you can put your name in place of Tyrith or some other such nonsense.

Quote:
I, Tyrith, the gun loving leader of the Congressional Republics, submit to you this bill for your consideration -

NATIONAL WOLF DISCOVERY BILL

Co-Sponsors: illinifan999 and Mrs. Schmidty

We create a seer role to be given to a random non-wolf member of this Congress, to have the ability once per year, at night, to select a member of Congress and determine whether or not they are a member of the Wolf Party. The name of the person to be scanned should be given to the moderator before the night deadline.

Further, if this seer is attacked at night by the wolves, he shall have a 25% chance of avoiding political death and remaining in the game, although he shall not learn the identity of his attacker.

FWIW, I think this works really well -- I thought the avoid-kill would be the bad part -- the fact that the wolf won't die immediately means we'll just lose a day voting him out.

Looking at KWhit's post, I think I take the blame for that one -- it was my idea to strengthen the power, and Tyrith even made the role weaker than my estimates. Definitely my bad. On the other hand, it was me that asked CR if it would work, so I have that going for me.
