Welcome to the shit list.

11.12 LF Carlos Guillen - Tigers

12.1 CL Bobby Jenks - White Sox

Guillen is starting LF this year, so I assume Yahoo will fix that. He is also penciled in fifth behind Maggs and Miggy. LF is gonna ease some of his injury concerns and when he's on, he's a .300, 100 RBI potential guy.

Jenks had some injury concerns but was solid last year, and the Sox gave him a nice raise this year so I am assuming they realize he's good to go.

Wow. I just got back from a busy morning of work and a late lunch and we've kindof flown today. Updating as we speak.

And if I start the run on closers blame Sooner. I was hoping Figgins fell and I could have he and Guillen.

If Guillen is going to start in left, you might have to wait 1 week until he's played 5 games to gain positional eligibility.

I still have a list from Toddzilla. I can use that if he doesn't show up. However, as a rule, if someone shows up to pick before I use the list, I presume they have taken back control of their draft and the list is null and void. We haven't run across that situation yet, tho.

I honestly cannot believe Jacobs fell to round 11.

To echo what cubboyroy1826 said, Jacobs can't hit lefties at all and is part of a glut of 1B/DH types in Kansas City. That being said, I like him and think he will be solid again this season.

Thread and Yahoo updated thru 12.5

Ok, so MizzouRah picked at 8:20. So that means the next pick is due at 12:20 tomorrow afternoon by Ramzavail. I will be gone most of tomorrow and I'm up after that. Anyone wanting a short list from me? I'll check again tomorrow morning but then I'm gone until tomorrow evening.

All players show up as free agents on Yahoo. You have to check the draft board, here: Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - There was a problem to see who has been drafted. Yahoo doesn't recognize the rostered players until the draft is complete and SI hits the "begin league" button.

That's not true actually - if you go to the players list, anyone selected in the draft will not be listed under "All Available Players" That way you don't have to scour the draft list to see if the guy you want is missing. I don't see Cano on the list, but I am not sure what list Ram was looking at either. No worries either way

No, I know, but I was just assuming that Ram did a search by name, which is not how I'm checking anyway.

yes, I know I used the "available players" list, then I searched for Cano and it said "FA", I assumed it had searched within the available players list. Plus I hadn't had my morning coffee yet

Should we give him the top player at the board at this point? I think its Vernon Wells which isn't a terrible pick at all.

I'm on my way back out the door. If it's someone's pick and their time is up, make the pick, similar to how we make list picks

12.8 OF Vernon Wells, Tor

I won't be able to edit Yahoo until later tonight. Until then, happy drafting...

I hate to be this way about the rules, but I think it has to be left as is. I just don't want to go down that potential road.

However, we can vote on the following measure as I had never really thought of that as a solution in the past. If 8 votes (a longshot, I know) happen before your next pick, we can go with it:

"If you miss a pick and one is auto-picked for you, you can, at your next pick, name a replacement of a player still on the board for the auto-pick in addition to your current pick"

I don't want to just let it happen whenever because I don't want players racing to pick (i.e. it wouldn't be fair to LWSFS who is up right now if you two were basically racing for the same player- he shouldn't be penalized and have to rush his pick because you missed and got an autopick). The compromise made is that you have to watch all the picks made until your next pick before you can get that player replaced. This is somewhat unbalanced as someone at, say, 11/2 only has to wait 2 picks while someone at 2/11 has to wait 20(?) picks to get back to them. But that's the best system I can come up with.

(Strategically, if you're stuck with Wells, you can stick him straight on the DL and get another player without having to draft anyone. However, I realize that's basically trading a 12th round pick for a 26th round so it's not much consolation)

I'll give you the first 'yes' vote (my own)- I'm not keen on changing rules in the middle of the draft but I think this is a good addition.

I vote no because what if someone in that round wanted that player for whatever reason and missed the opportunity. The next time around the draft order will be going the other way and the team that may have wanted the guy will be two picks in.
