Well my county is under a level 2 snow emergency alert and my university doesn't even delay classes.

So there's three of us in my company. The "new guy" (who's been with us for I guess going on 2 years soon, but will always be "the new guy" for simplicity's sake, unless/until we hire another), and the two of us principals. The "new guy" lives the furthest away from the office. I live the closest (he's probably 3x my commute).

We all know it's going to snow today. We all plan on working from home. Hell I didn't even entertain the possibility of going in. We start exchanging emails this morning and new guy is like "I'm in the office. I left home early before the snow started coming down."

Not sure who he's trying to impress?

Then again, 2 years in and we still can't get him to dress more casually. He'll wear jeans maybe once a month.

2 driveways shoveled in 2 hours. We do the neighbors across the street who are like our grandparents as well as ours.

Benefits of having 18, 11, and 10 year old boys to help.

My driveway was about 2 inches of snow with a 2 inches of sleet and ice on that. At the bottom the plow had added about 6 inches of ice on that. It didn't even dent when my 280lb ass walked on it.

Not as bad as a few years ago when I shoveled for 8 hours, but I'm tired enough. Glad I'm done for the day as long as the snow we are supposed to get later today isn't too much and the salt I put down works well.

Snow delaying delivery of my PS4 likely. It's literally at a FedEx facility within like a mile of my apartment. Maybe even the one I can see out my window over my back fence. Irritated.

Must keep things in perspective.

That was the heaviest snow/ice combo I've ever shoveled. Damn.....

I think we got lucky and while we had ice, we had just enough snow to keep it reasonable. Another 1-2 hours of ice and it would have been ugly.

Woot...FedEx tracking says it's on the truck for local delivery.

Nobody in my apartment building's office...wonder if they'll leave it in the lobby. Left a note on the door to call my cell just in case.

We got a foot of snow out of yesterday's storm that's headed up to the northeast. I don't care where you live. A foot of snow is a LOT of snow. I shoveled twice (once yesterday, once today) just so I only had to do it six inches at a time.

Cable is out, which is ok by me but it's sending the women folk into a tizzy. Most of town is without power, but I got it, so fingers crossed.

Trees are buckled and down all over. Just a friggin mess. Supposed to get up to about 37 this afternoon which is gonna be the high for the next 10 days. Old Man Winter is quite the dickhead this year.

Edit: And I say all that knowing that I'm probably in better shape than most.

I like how it says that it feels like -27.

I hate to say it, once you get to -20, feeling like -27 isn't really much different

I like the part where it points out how high my hydro bills are going to be, like the shitty forecast wasn't depressing enough.

Out of school today and just announced for tomorrow. Got about 2 inches of snow then it changed to freezing rain/ice. Now, you can walk on top of the snow without sinking in. It's that thick. Guessing we will be out till Monday.

School cancelled again for tomorrow in Kenton Co KY. That's 11 for the year so far. 6 that have to be made up. Moms and dads are going crazy. Kids are happy but at least one of them is going stir crazy.

The worst thing was the super long 2 full week Christmas break which was immediately followed by a few more days off. Then I know Dr. King's birthday is a holiday but it's horrible timing if there's any missed school. It's too politically charged to use as a snow day(iirc when I lived in Norfolk they tried to use it as a makeup day and it was disastrous). Presidents day can be taken back if necessary I think.

Tl:dr don't schedule 2 weeks for Xmas and think about less off days in the fall(Columbus day wtf)

We have a winter weather advisory until sometime on Saturday. Could really fuck up travel plans throughout the valley, especially since they don't plow or even put down anything until we have 6 or 7 inches minimum of snow.

Got about 12 inches yesterday here in Portland, ME. Snow day for both kids, so I took the day off while the wife worked from the spare bedroom.

Took them out around 10:00 to try and go sledding (during the blizzard) at a nearby golf course. Had a fun couple of runs, but it was a little too cold for them to keep going.

Even our van didn't make a dent in the stuff on the driveway. It's just solid ice. At least we can get out. Snow is still falling. It's just light, but at this point anything is a pain. More expected over the weekend. If we are out tomorrow, which is likely, it'll put us up to June 13th for the last day of school. That's my daughter's birthday. She will not be pleased!

Just took a pretty bad spill on my front porch/ walkway. It is all iced over, slammed my forearm and back into the concrete steps and knocked the wind out of me. I stumbled into the house unable to breath and holding my left arm and my wife thought I was having a heart attack and almost called 911.

The ironic part, I was out there putting down salt because it looked so slick.

Snowmageddon 3.0 in Atlanta? Reports for snow falling Monday night (and potentially will ice over) and icy rain falling Tuesday night. Though, thankfully it'll come down overnight, allowing for work/school to be canceled if need be before people leave the house.

I've bit it a few times now and I need to be more careful. I have some of those rubber stretchy snow cleats and need to throw them on an old pair of sneakers.

I bit it for the first time this morning. I was walking the dog and had almost made it home. I was crossing our street, just a few from from our sidewalk and I was on my back before I knew what happened. I fell on my left ass cheek. No damage done, though my neck and shoulders hurt.

Infinitely more. When the manure isn't frozen we can easily pump it into a tank for storage (we have 6 month storage) from the initial collection pits. At this point, we can't even get it into the collection pits. Right now we push it outside into a pile. And then those piles of shit can only get so big before we have to haul them out to fields. Spreading manure on frozen ground is frowned upon, though not forbidden.

Usually 10 degrees and above we can get the manure into storage but with the weather this winter it's been constant.

It's also very hard on the equipment and the buildings. I had one employee take a whole wall out of a building when he ran into it trying to get some frozen shit loose from the ground. So it's going to hit the Repair/Maintenance budget rather hard too.

Sometimes I hate people in this city (Atlanta). People are pro-actively canceling school for tomorrow or sending people home early and folks are complaining up a storm (no pun intended)!

Yes, its not supposed to be rain/snowing until late this evening, but half of the problem was everyone leaving at once and freaking out... you would think extra caution this time would be preferable to the mess 2 weeks ago!
