No real dog in the fight but rooting for OU over FSU.

Am looking forward to OU and Texas joining the SEC in 2025 (?).

Norvell has to grow up and make some tough decisions. Moving on from Adam Fuller is #1 on the list. Our D's stats looked really good this year because they were propped up by playing a bunch of backup/one-dimensional QBs. When we faced a good/balanced offenses, this is exactly what happened. Down early to WF and Clemson and could never quite catch up. Had NC State down at half and let a backup bring them back to win. There's been some improvement, but not enough against good teams.

Tied game with 3:30 left. Should be an exciting finish

That shot of Norvell before yet another untouched 3rd down and long run for a TD was hopefully him mentally going over his list of DCs. Jim Leonhard doesn't have a job yet right?

Even a win here feels like a loss with the way we've played.

He's terrible. 11 for 19 on the season, I think.

Lost in the Arizona State FB program debacle is the fact that from last year's team, Ricky Pearsall transferred to UF and was their #1 WR and Johnny Wilson transferred to FSU and was their #1 WR. Wilson had a total of 243 yards in TWO SEASONS at ASU. He had 202 yards tonight and just shy of 900 yards on the season. Crazy.

re: Hogs targeting. Rescinded

SEC Officials rescind targeting penalty on Quincey McAdoo in second overtime of Liberty Bowl vs. Kansas - On3
Quote:
Following a review, SEC officials have decided to rescind the targeting penalty assessed against Arkansas’ bone-rattling defensive back Quincey McAdoo. He was assessed the penalty against Kansas in the second overtime of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, and the critical penalty nearly cost Arkansas the game. McAdoo was ejected from the game and since it was in the second half, he was going to miss the first half of the Hogs’ season opener during the 2023 season.
The official announcement

Quote:
“Based on the request by the SEC, a video review of the 2nd half targeting foul committed by player #24 of Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl was initiated. Based on this review, it has been determined that the action by #24 was not Targeting and the player should not have been disqualified. The suspension for #24 for the first half of Arkansas’ next game to open the 2023 season is vacated if #24 has eligibility remaining. Please ensure that Arkansas’ next opponent is aware of this vacated suspension. Let me know if you have any questions.”

TBH, it did look at targeting to me (I had a bigger beef with the earlier fumble call against the Hogs). Not intentional as it was a secondary hit, but the helmets did hit.

Brings to question, what would have happened if Kansas won the game and this came out a day later? I know, nothing. I would like an explanation as to why/how the refs got it wrong though.

That's confusing. The article says "SEC officials" have rescinded the penalty, but the statement says the SEC requested a review and it's issued by someone from what appears to be an NCAA rules committee. Reason I was interested is because I was curious which league's crew actually worked the game, but it doesn't say.

I'm guessing since it was a close call, they won the game anyway and he would have been suspended a half next year, they overturned it on a "no harm no foul" basis.

It was a Pac-12 crew.

Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek calls out officiating in Liberty Bowl
Quote:
Arkansas left Memphis Wednesday night with a victory in the Liberty Bowl. The Razorbacks sometimes felt like they were battling both Kansas and the game’s Pac-12 officiating crew.

Arkansas felt that multiple calls unfairly went against the Hogs on Wednesday night. The most controversial call was a late 4th-quarter fumble that gave Kansas another possession.

That was a weird Rattler shovel (?) pass and self recovery (?)

Good game so far at 24-17 South Carolina

Edit: that was a fantastic Rattler 42 yard TD pass & catch. 31-24. He may have found his mojo

Edit: 31-31 at 4Q, solid entertaining game

If Klubnik proves to be coachable (and gets that coaching), he's gonna be a problem for defenses.

There's work to do there, for sure, but he's a good looking QB.

Nico Iamaleava would probably have to have his arm amputated to keep him from starting next year. He's not being paid $8 mil to sit the bench.

If Milton progresses, I'd say the job will be his in the opener.

IF that happens, I don't think you see a freshman starting until they're at least on the brink of being eliminated from contention. Heupel wants to win games (and titles), somebody being absolutely dumbfuck enough to pay a kid who hasn't done shit yet $8m ain't his first priority.

I was actually able to watch most of the Orange Bowl and it will be really interesting to see what those two QBs do next year. I remember all of the hype around Milton when he was at Michigan and he just could not pull it all together. He looked really good last night and if things manage to cohere for him, you have to imagine a NFL team will take a flyer on him.

The Clemson QB looked incredibly raw, but has potential.

It was a fun game to watch.

There have been many of those guys recently. The biggest one was probably Joe Burrows. It just take some guys a little time for it all to come together for them.

Oh, so another MI reject.

Ryan Mallett came home to Arkansas from MI and those were like the 2 most fun years watching him air the ball. Fun memories!

He's an AR high-school coach now. I hope he does well (and have learn some discipline), would love to see him as an assistant in a college football program.

He really was. Hopefully he can pull it together and things click for him. It’d be super fun to watch him as a player if so.

Bryce Young is so dang good but it is amazing the number of plays that he makes outside of the offense. I wonder how well that translates to the NFL - he may need the right coaching staff to utilize instead of suppress that ability.

I got a kick out of Dvoracek saying Alabama was sleepwalking when a second later it was clear they weren't.

Gutsy of KSU to go for it with a 4th down. Worked for them before but I’d go for the 3 pts.

Considering how close it is right now, fair chance it’ll come back to haunt them

Edit: that was a great 2 min drill by AL. KSU defense got shredded

I'm not sure what bowls prove at this point. A three-star guy had three years at Penn State, never cracked the rotation. Transferred to Kentucky and looked pretty good in his fourth year, even better in his fifth.

He seems destined for the early first round in the 2023 draft, even though Kentucky wasn't very good. So he decided to skip the bowl game and his final year of eligibility to prepare for the draft, because the risk of getting injured or playing badly in the bowl game is far greater than the gain from helping his teammates win a meaningless exhibition. Without him, somewhat predictably, Kentucky couldn't even manage a single point today.

The NFL has finally eliminated the Pro Bowl. It's probably time for the college football world to eliminate bowl games.

The Big Ten is still undefeated. Whether that holds up now that the playoffs are beginning is hard to predict.
