2006 Offseason, Holdouts
S Cory Hall announces he will holdout unless he receives a new contract. Hall is requesting a 4-year deal worth $13.8 million. I think he has a legitimate complaint about his current deal. We offer Hall exactly what he wants and move on. QB Eli Manning announces he will holdout unless he receives a new contract. Manning is requesting a 6-year deal worth $23 million, think he is pissed we drafted Cutler? I'm seriously considering telling Manning to F-off. Cutler looks to be the real deal at this point. DT Haloti Ngata will hold out until training camp. All the other rookies sign. Here are their current ratings. DT Haloti Ngata - 39/48 DE Mario Williams - 31/64 RB Reggie Bush - 27/38 CB Antonio Cromartie - 21/39 QB Jay Cutler - 15/46 T Rashad Butler - 20/32 RB Lendale White - 33/60 A little disappointed with Ngata but we make up for it with Williams. Our draft is rated an "A". Last edited by Balldog : 02-06-2010 at 05:02 PM. |

2006 Offseason, Late Free Agency
We give in a little for Eli Manning, he signs a 2-year deal worth $10 million. We refused to sign him for 6 years just yet. Week 1 P Hunter Smith (IND) signs a 4-year deal worth $6.6 million. This means we will cut Kyle Richardson. Week 2 WR Jacquez Green resigns a 1-year deal worth $700 thousand. Haloti Ngata signs a 5-year deal worth $20.5 million. He will report to training camp. |

NGATA!
Awesome pick, and Super Mario looks like a steal. The DL should be a force. |

2006 Season, Week 1
Lions (0-0) at Bears (0-0) * Bears are favored by 7. No team improved more than the Bears this offseason, with their biggest addition being 3-time league MVP Kurt Warner. This will be one of the league's most explosive offenses with RB Tatum Bell, RB Jerious Norwood, WR Roy Williams, WR Brandon Marshall, WR Chris Henry and WR Marques Colston. Their defense is very good too, they are led by LB Roosevelt Colvin, LB Brian Urlacher, and S Mike Brown. I'll be shocked if these guys don't win the Super Bowl. 1st Quarter We get the ball first and a 43-yard pass from Manning to Larry Fitzgerald on 3rd and 24 sets up a 40-yard field goal by Jason Hanson. Our defense holds them to two three and outs before they get their first 1st down of the game as the quarter ends. Lions 3, Bears 0 2nd Quarter Our defense keeps them from moving across midfield and forces a punt. Our offense is struggling just as bad though. Finally Warner fines something, he hits Henry for a 22-yard gain then later hits Colston for a 25-yard gain that sets up 4-yard touchdown pass from Warner to FB Andrew Pinnock. We get the ball back and start a nice drive of our own before Desmond Clark fumbles and they recover at their 30 at the two minute warning. Five plays later Warner hits Roy Williams for an 18-yard touchdown just before the half ends. Bears 14, Lions 3 3rd Quarter They convert on a few 3rd and longs to start the half before settling for a 40-yard field goal by Mike Vanderjagt. Finally Manning and company get on the board again, Manning hits Fitzgerald for a 22-yard gain setting up a 31-yard field goal by Hanson. On the first play of their next drive Warner hits TE Bryan Fletcher for 10 yards but he breaks a tackle and is off to the races, he scores on a 70-yard touchdown. Bears 24, Lions 6 4th Quarter We are able to get on the board again to start the quarter but settle for another field goal, this time Hanson hits from 49 yards. We force a punt on their next possession and Nate Wayne blocks the punt giving us the ball at their 28. We aren't able to do anything and settle for a 40-yard field goal by Hanson. We force a punt on their next possession but Manning is intercepted by S Lamont Thompson at our 41 and he returns it to our 18. They add a 30-yard field goal. We finally get in the end zone with 1:30 left, Manning hit Justin McCareins for a 19-yard score to cut their lead to 27-19. We recover the onside kick but Manning promptly is intercepted by Thompson again. Bears 27, Lions 19 They got up on us early and took Steven Jackson and Lendale White out of the game, they combined for 58 yards on 14 carries. Manning was 25 of 41 for 266 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. His favorite target was McCareins, he had 6 receptions for 70 yards. Mario Williams had a sack in his debut. Warner ended up 22 of 33 for 266 yards with 3 touchdowns. Kevin Williams will be available to play next week, let see how he effects our defense.
