New Avengers Trailer
I so far like this better than the most recent Dark Knight trailer.

Appears to be the UK version of the trailer (it is different than the Super Bowl one), looks like it's being titled a little different there too...

The movie could end up being the greatest superhero movie ever, but a review like that is never a good thing. I found one sentence without hyperbole.

With all the possibilities and hope for this movie, how can it hope to live up to expectation? It's going to be a let down right from the start. There is no way they can give enough screen or plot time to every character who needs it.
Yes it'll be big and action packed, but how can it integrate everyone and come up with a solid plot that's not just another run of the mill super hero movie? It's bound to be a let down.

Don't be such a Debbie Downer! I am pumped for this movie. I never really had that high of expectations for it, but I find the concept of trying to fit all of these heroes into one film exciting. I can't wait to see how (or if) they can pull it off. I think one big advantage this movie will have over the "run of the mill super hero movie" is the lack of any need for a boring origin story. Sure, the movie will contain the "origin" story of how the Avengers were assembled, but that stuff is interesting. It's like the "Seven Samurai" or the "Magnificent Seven". Who doesn't like the idea of a collection of bad asses getting together to stop some big bad? Avengers Assemble!

This is why the other movies happened. There's not nearly as much story to tell in terms of lead up. They have been hinting at it from the start. In the grand scheme of things, this is already like a sequel.

This IS a giant sequel.
All the character development were already done in Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.

Yeah, I'm really pumped for this one.
And the new Hulk looks better than the other 2 recent ones from the couple of clips I've seen. |

Yup, that's the big key. If I see one more 'boo-hoo, I have powers' angsty-teen 'origin' story... I don't think they've made one misstep in this. It would've been 100% perfect if they could've kept Ed Norton as Banner, but Ruffalo will be alright. And it's not necessarily their fault, but Captain America definitely makes the worst transition from comic book to live action. Cannot wait to see this. May actually do the theater, which is never a prime option for me. |

My youngest (5) LOVES everything super hero, and my oldest (20) is a pretty big hero fan as well. They are really amped to see this. I've enjoyed the "lead-up" movies, and am anxious to see it too. The wife is even looking forward to it .
Definitely going to the theater, and hopefully will be a nice family night out we'll all be able to enjoy. |

FYI, you may want to check to see if your local theater is doing an Avengers marathon Thursday. The Regal cinema in town is showing all the prior movies (except The Incredible Hulk) before the midnight screening of Avengers. It's like $35. I think I saw some Cinemark, AMC, and Carmikes are doing it as well.

Why aren't they doing the Hulk? After the first Iron Man, I thought it was the best of the "prequels". Some kind of fight back at Norton?

MY local theater is giving away free IMAX 3D tickets so I signed up. 3D is hit or miss, but I'm all over IMAX.

I watched it Saturday night. Nope, no complaints from me. It had the right combination of action and banter. Scarlett is awesome and hot. And why hasn't Hawkeye been featured yet? I know he's just a bow and arrow kind of superhero, but his back story seems to be the most interesting of all the characters leading up to this point. Also, the new Banner looked the part more than Ed Norton did.

That was honestly one of the greatest comic book / action movies I've ever seen. I'm so happy that Joss Whedon was part of this... Wow, just wow.

Yeah. I have to say I was a little worried. Usually when everyone in the world tells me how great something is before I see it, I'm underwhelmed. This movie was excellent. I think the real trick was that you have all these titanic personalities (as actors and characters both), yet none of them felt shortchanged in the movie. Maybe Hawkeye a little, but that was sort of plot-driven. Not only that, you got to see one of the more incredible action sequences I've ever seen in the ending. Intense.
I'm probably going to see this multiple times in the theater. |

Saw it in 3D...mostly because the 2D was sold out. 3D is okay, but I would have been just as happy to see it in 2D. The movie theater was packed; consequently, I missed some dialogue due to laughter. There were some genuinely funny parts in there. The action was great and I could tell what was going on in the battle, unlike some other eye candy spectacles (cough Transformers 3).
