Here's a sweet video from the LAFD (where I work). The background song is "Burning Ring of Fire" as covered by Social D. Enjoy.

I had no idea until today that it was Sheena Easton who recorded that song... quite a career transition she made. From this to one of Tipper Gore's most wanted.

You don't find much of this anymore. They are around, but they don't get much airplay. New Edition and Force MDs had some great singing talent:

Kool Moe Dee is probably one of the most underrated rappers. And his music was always the jam. Too bad his videos didn't match the power of the music. And then there is Melle Mel & the Furious 5's classic anti-drug song. Didn't realize Laurence Fishburne was in it.

Thanks to you guys, I pulled out my tape of some of my favorite videos that I made in the 80s and early 90s. On it included videos of U2, Heart, CSN, Dream Academy, Tears for Fear plus what I thought was the best ensemble video - Voices That Care (made for the Gulf troops). The Golden Age of Music Videos was a great, great time - and very fun too.

I have read a couple of places that propose ways to get video from YouTube to iTunes, presumably for viewing locally, or with a video-enabled iPod.

So far, what I have come across all seem very cumbersome. Anyone here have a suggestion for a relatively easy way to do this?

I bet Shaw knows...he pointed me to a mozilla extension that will save the video as a .flv file (I can't recall the extension name, unfortunately, and I only have it set up at work). The VLC media player (hxxp://www.videolan.org/vlc/) will play these and I think has a wizard to stream/encode them, but I can't seem to quite get it to work.

Just saw this movie called Totally Awesome, which is a spoof of the 80's movies. Overall the movie had its moments, but the Tracy Morgan scenes are hilarious.

I didn't realize people were uploading videos of "obscure" bands that I used to love (wow, what will they think of next?!). Nevertheless, here's one by Ride - great song from one of my favorite bands.

Scatterbrain / Down With the Ship

hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ1GReZaB7E

A few bikinis, but otherwise, you'll probably be disturbed more by what the guys are wearing at various points.

Scatterbrain was a great metal/hardcore/"joke" band from NY in the early 90s. This video pretty much sums them up...although this song in particular intentionally rips off about 2 dozen well-known rock songs, and their other stuff was much more original. You might recall Don't Call Me Dude...but probably not.
