You can play any game you own on steam in offline mode.

what he says. Once the game is installed, you restart Steam in offline mode and you're good to go. Steam is great.

I'm also looking for the 11.99. First text sim I'm purchasing in a long time.

And claiming the Blackhawks if this is the proper thread .

Thanks for the responses. What if I stop using Steam for some reason or it goes away? Do I lose the games I have on there too?

Gabe Newell has promised to unlock everyone's games on Steam permanently should Steam no longer be a going concern

Got it, EHM was always one of those games I always wanted to fall in love with, but could never figure out. They had me at 2D and the price.

Purchased it for Windows.

May not be able to play for a long while but I wanted to support the fact they're making it again.

Bought it. I stay away from Early Access as a general rule, but being made by SI, it's a no-brainer.

The irony is I wasn't actually trying to start a dibs-call on teams. I was making fun of myself as a Panther fan, as though there's this horde of FOFCers falling all over themselves to claim the Panthers.

yeah, a known property, we know it'll get done and we'll eventually have a fully working, patched kind of game and we'll have paid a sweet low price. Good deal

Grabbed it. At $12 I didn't even have to think about it.

Started up with Dallas. First exhibition my goalie had a clean sheet 4-0 win. Next game 1-10 loss. Quite a swing there.

I'm floored. I couldn't find my old EHM 07 serial number to install on my new laptop and considered purchasing the game again (if you could?). This will be better.

Drooling after my first preseason 3-1 victory over Pittsburgh. What I hated about the previous version is that for some reason when I played preseason games each team would end up with something like 65 shots and scores would be 10-8.

Will take a little getting used to the speed, have to put it on slow or it's impossible to keep up with what is going on.

Will have to keep an eye out for real rosters.

For anyone looking for third-party add-ons and such, I would suggest heading over to The Blueline. Those guys have kept the old 2007 game going with updates, add-ons etc and most of that is compatible with the new game as well:

An "it's never over till it's over" moment:

Buffalo scores with 1:11 to play to take a 3-1 lead over my Bruins.

However, the Bruins come back and get what is surely a consolation goal with 0:39 to play.

Bruins pull the goalie, and desperately try to score, and manage to knock one past the goalie with 0:11 to play. A shellshocked Buffalo manages to hold out the Bruins in OT, but the Bruins manage to win the shootout and the game.

Will there be real rosters at some point?

Will likely purchase the game and would LOVE to replay as the Devils of the early 1990s. Would be nice to get some revenge on that fuckwad Messier.

what a pleasant surprise. totally breaking my no EA or Early Access rule.

FYI, looks like the $11.99 price is for FM owners...I will still buy at $14.99

Great game, amazing price! I wish there were a way to let the Head Coach you hire set tactics based on their preferences. As it stands now they can recommend lines but not tactics!

Yes, you can make it full screen, but it will still be 1024x768. Pretty sure that's one of the things they're working on.

So I am stuck.

I started with a fantasy draft, simmed the preseason o my first game, and got a message that I am over the salary cap and need to reduce by waiving players or trading. Cant figure out how to trade, and players take 24 hours to waive and the game is today, so I am stuck not being able to sim todays game and move forward.

I don't have EHM-EA yet (I have a Mac) but the fail-safe solution in the past for FM would be to go on a one-day vacation to take care of issues like that.

You can access the trade screen by going to the team page of the team you want to trade with, right clicking a player (doesn't matter who) and choosing "Approach to Trade."

It's kinda hidden and that's stupid, but once you're on that screen you can set up whatever trade offer you want with the team in question.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\pictures\logos for the logos (assuming you're on Windows 7, 64 bit and the install location is the default; I don't know what it would be on 32-bit).

pictures\players for the players (no sub-folders). FWIW, some of the pictures work for me that way and some don't. Not sure why.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\database is where you extract the roster folder to.

Hopefully someone builds a fantasy NHL with no salary cap, just team by team budgets.

So I loaded up the game tonight with the real rosters and decided I wanted to start off with a team that has lower expectations. I added a GM to every team and checked the inboxes of all of them. The boards of Chicago and Detroit expected to be Cup contenders. All other 28 teams are expected to reach the playoffs. Seems a bit off. Problem with the rosters or game itself though?

Edit: After looking at the majority of teams in a fictional league I'm seeing the same thing. Something that gets looked at then hopefully.
