NFL Week 5
I just saw that the forecast here in Denver for the next 4-5 days is highs in the upper 40s and snow in the forecast with some rain mixed in each day. And for the Pats-Broncos game it could be a real mess: cold, snowy, sloopy and windy enjoy

I can't friggin wait for Sunday already. A Homecoming hangover leading to sleeping late, watch football all day, and off for Columbus Day to follow.
Bring this shit on. |

Oh, boy I do miss some of those "unique" holidays back there in Boston like Columbus day, Patriots Day/Marathon Day and my favorite the Monday fater St Patties Day. I got tickets to the game through my company in the suite we have and am going to enjoy this one. I think it might be a pretty decent game. |

Columbus Day is actually an official holiday across the U.S., and in many other countries. But you knew that, right?

But only students and bankers get the day off. Those of us who actually work for a living will be plugging away come Monday morning.

Definitely looking forward to this weekend's game. I want to see if the Bengals play up to the competition. I'm hoping they spare me the standard heart failure this week. not sure how many more I can take.
If not for one freak play the Bengals are 4-0 going into this, but we're still tied for first and this will be a great showdown. |

The Bengals could just as easily be 2-2, and would be if the Steelers would have any type of running game that day.

Its not Pitt's lack of a running game thats killing them, its their defense giving up 14-28 points in the 4th quarter. We could just as easily be 0-4 too, but we're not and with the way the Denver game ended we're far closer to 4-0 than 0-4. |

I agree with the defense part of this, but a running game would have helped protect the lead a little better against Cinci and Chicago. Although, that defensive problem came out full force against the Chargers.

Well, the Steelers D is going to be ravaged this week by Air Stafford. 45 -7. Not that is not a hyphen, the Steelers will just have -7.
I do reserve the right to change my prediction should Rollpaper start to 35 - 10. |

I have to say, while the Lions are still far from a good time and time will tell about how good a head coach Jim Schwartz is, so far I am liking his approach.
It was refreshing to hear him be honest about the second half of last week's game. He's actually playing a lot of rookies. This is something the prior regimes never did. Sure, a lot of the picks sucked, but at least have them play to confirm that. The Lions had 5 rookies start against the Redskins and another as their primiary return guy (Aaron Brown). Since Brown is struggling, the Lions are going to give third round pick Derek Williams a shot. In the past, the Lions would have just gone out and re-signed Aveon Cason for the 67th time. The Lions special teams were as bad last week as I have ever seen a special teams unit. Ever. So, they cut special teams guy Darnell Bing and call up 7th round pick Zack Follet. Again, last year they would have gone and signed some crappy ex-Buccaneer or something. The Lions/Steelers game may even be a sellout. Only 1,500 tickets remaining.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't sell out. The Pittsburgh papers will probably starting running articles about actual tickets being left in the next day or so and they'll get snapped up before Sunday.

Sorry if I offended but you are right it is an"official" holiday that no companies follow at least know that I have ever worked for. Sorry, but it is just not a real holiday that people think of anymore and I think it should be gotten rid of. Plus, the Vikings discovered North America way before Columbus. I was able to navigate away by figuring some stuff out, but I'm willing to bet most people didnt that clicked it and it caused them to terminate the browser process which sucks, especially if you are working on stuff in another tab as I often am. That was weak Sun. what were you thinking. Especially with people browsing at work...

I've been RR'ed more times than I can count where I work, and I work at a pretty upstanding software company in an office/cubicle-ish setting. Practical jokes are kind of the norm where I'm at. I'm surprised that some peoples employers get so upset over this. Didn't mean to cause such a ruckus. My apologies.

Bing was a 220lb college safety who was way too slow to play DB in the NFL so he was a project weakside linebacker. absolutely no surprise he didn't make it, more of a surprise he made it this far to be honest. Great college player though. |

FWIW, the main reason I removed the link is one of the TWO people that reported it (which is VERY rare btw) reported being taken to an adult website in one of the many windows that popped up.

Adult website? Nah...I mean it's been about a month since we've RR'ed someone @ work, but I'm 100% positive that if you're able to click the window closed that it will just run the lyrics to the song in a very small 100 x 100 window. If you don't want to have the window in the forefront of your screen you just have to open a new IE/Firefox browser window. At first it seems intrusive, but it's actually relatively easy to close it down.
I tried it again on myself (muted of course, heheh) just now, and nothing has changed. I was able to mute it entirely and then just bring another window up moving the RR into the background somewhere unseen. Not making excuses here, just saying it's not "flood your screen with porn and then crash your computer" bad. I would never, ever post something that I knew would take someone to an adult website. I could get fired for something like that, and I wouldn't want to put anybody else in that position just in general.

At the least it contains a direct link to AFF which is not a good thing.

Yeah, Ronnie hit on the issue. A link to AFF, or AFF itself, or something. But, I don't believe Sun realized it would happen, that's why he hasn't been boxed (I would have insta-boxed him if I thought he was trying to point people to porn).
