The Most Unprofessional Act You've Ever Seen In Sports

According to professional dipshit Mike Greenberg, it's what Antonio Brown did to get released by the Raiders.

I can think of a few more egregious examples - correct me if I'm wrong but Aaron Hernandez straight up murdered a dude - can you?

I'm pretty sure he didn't Last Boy Scout the guy though, so I can get how that doesn't make Greenberg's list.

Kermit Washington punching Rudy T is probably a legit contender though.

It depends. If you say off-field non-sport related stuff, then it was Hernandez, Rae Caruth, and Mike Vick.

If you say actually team/sports related: Patrino destroying the Falcons and then sneaking away to Arkansas without facing the players he screwed.

Probably Danny Davis using his authority as a referee to screw the British Bulldogs and Tito Santana out of the WWF Tag Team and Intercontinental Titles, respectively.

I mean, people love to whine about refs but that was a true miscarriage of justice.

I could probably name hundreds in sports.

Paterno and Briles as coaches. Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittendon was bad. Francisco Rodriguez assaulting his father-in-law at the stadium. The Knicks sexual harrassment suit. Then all the cheap shots we've seen like Kermit Washington, Suh, Tyson, Bertuzzi, LaGarette Blount, Zidane, and so on.

I think Greenberg was in Chicago when the Cubs drafted this guy too.

If we are talking acts by players on one of your teams, Bobby Ryan stomping on a dudes exposed leg with his skate was pretty bad.

Cantona’s Kung fu kick at Palace is another good one if we are talking fans vs players category

That was the first on the field/court incident that came to my mind too.

Zidane's headbutt in the world cup.

Off the field - not just being a criminal but rather impacting competition - I'll go with Tonya Harding.

I have a hard time grouping Vick in with these two (and I own two dogs). Also, I'd probably put a lot of people ahead of Vick. OJ Simpson, Ray Lewis (? - maybe), Darren Sharper, Lawrence Taylor, arguably Donte Stallworth.

There was a hockey player some years back, I think maybe playing for Calgary, who viciously cross checked a guy after he scored a goal. IIRC there was talk about filing criminal charges. I'll need to see if I can remember who it was.

Also Tonya Harding

Dale Hunter on Pierre Turgeon in the playoffs. There's an interesting backstory that may or may not have influenced that act, as Turgeon was public enemy #1 in Canada for a while after being the only player to not defend his teammates during the Punch up in Pieszany (apart from the backup goalie).

If we're talking hockey, McSorley on Brashear is much more egregious than that incident, as well as Bertuzzi on Moore.

Feels like a lot of people are misunderstanding the nuances of Unprofessional here.

Otherwise Najeh Davenport dumping in a hamper would have been mentioned already.

If we're going down that road...

We pretty much have to include multiple instances of Charles Haley jerking off at teammates.

Zidane? For many he was a hero for knocking down Materazzi. It wasn't downright dirty, he was stupid enough to react on the provoking.

Luis Suarez and his biting though...

Bill Musselman was the coach of Minnesota and had them on the rise. It was a big game against two of the top teams in the Big 10 and it wasn't going Minnesota's way at the end. Ohio State was the more offensive-minded team and Musselman's Minnesota team were physical and defensive-minded. As far as I know, it was just end of the game frustration and then an all out attack.

The brawl itself was pretty crazy. Fans and students came out onto the court and were involved. Dave Winfield, THE Dave Winfield, played basketball for Minnesota. He jumped on a guy that had already been knocked down to the ground and punched him several times. Three or four OSU players ended up in the hospital that night. I'm pretty sure the OSU player that took the knee ended up losing some eye sight... this uniquely qualified him to play for the Cavaliers so that ended up working out ok in the end.

That initial knee to the groin is funny in a cartoon-ish bad sportsmanship way, it's too bad it didn't end there.
