Headline: The press still wondering about Kahlenberg
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Brøndbys weekly press conference most questions was once again about Thomas Kahlenberg and his future in Brøndby. Last time manager Thomas Northwood was asked this question he answered very honest that he didn’t think Kahlenberg would stay in Brøndby for long. Kahlenberg didn’t like that comment and was upset with his manager for a few days. This time Northwood picked his word more carefully and refused to answer the question direct. He did confirm that Brøndby has raised the asking price for Kahlenberg to £7.5mil.
Kahlenberg is expected to be on the bench when Denmark with manager Thomas Northwood tomorrow play home against Faeroe Islands in a must win game to stay in the hunt for a place in next years Euro-08

It didn’t take new manager Thomas Northwood long to work his magic on the Danish national team. Faroe Islands might not be a very strong opponent but a 7-0 win is still a superb result. Faroe Islands was put under constant pressure and never had a shot on goal while Denmark scored on 7 of 12 shots on goal. Jon Dahl Tomasson started the party after just 8 minutes and Claus Jensen (2) and Dan Anton Johansen both scored before halftime to make it 4-0. In the second half the goals was scored by Martin Laursen Christian Poulsen and one more by Claus Jensen. Four Danish players finished the game with a prefect 10 rating.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the excellent win yesterday over Faroe Islands Denmark is now ready for Euro 2008 in Austria/Switzerland. That was clear after Turkey lost to Slovakia and lost the chance to go past Denmark in the final standing. Together with the two host nations and Denmark five more teams is ready after yesterday’s games. The five teams is all big European football nations:

Teams ready for Euro-08:
Austria
Switzerland
Denmark
France
Germany
Holland
Italy
Spain

England, Portugal and the Czech Rep also looks in good shape to make it but will have to wait four more days until the last matches of the group is played.

Denmark has played all eight group games and only has two away friendly games remaining this year against Ireland and Argentina.

Four Brøndby players was selected in the Danish 25 man squad and two of them got playing time. Dan Anton Johansen played an excellent game as right defender and scored his first international goal on a penalty after 42 minutes of play. After the game he thanked Thomas Northwood in the press for the chance to play at this level. Thomas Kahlenberg came on as a sub after 60 minutes and played a good game. That was his 6th appearance on the national team.

Headline: Two Brøndby players in Danish U-19 team
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two of Brøndby`s up and comings stars have been selected in the Danish U-19 team for the game against Israel 13 October. Mads Laudrup is son of Brøndby’s former manager Michael Laudrup. He had a few starts on the Brøndby first team last season but has not been close to a start this season. He still have shown good progress and have increased 22 Frogman-points* in the last 12 months. The other player selected is the younger brother of Brøndby first team player Daniel Agger. 18 year old Nicolaj Agger have been in the reserve squad the last year and have still not been in the first team squad. If his development continue that will soon change as he has already improved 16 Frogman-points in just a year. They will not be able to play for Brøndby in the Champions League game against ParisSG.
* Frogman points= the “Total change” for a player when rated in the excellent FMreport by Frogman.

Just three days before Brøndby`s SAS league meeting with Silkeborg the game have been propound. The new day for the game is 28th November and the reason for the new day is due to international call-ups. This will give Brøndby a few extra days to prepare for the Champions League game against ParisSG 17/10. It looks like that Karim Zaza will not make it home from international duties to play in the Champions League game. 17 year old Jakob Ibsen from the U-18 team have been told to standby as backup for Dimitar Dimitrov.

Headline: A look around European football
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The big leagues around Europe have now all been playing for a few weeks and its time to take a look around and see who is hot and not.

England:
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manu are all right on the tail of the surprise team in English football this season. Blackburn Rovers has a 6th place from the 2002/3 as the best result the last 10 years. Now they find themselves on top of the Premier division with 20 points after 9 games. Blackburn’s Lucas Neill has been the big surprise this year and Nicolas Anelka has found his second youth after the move from Manchester City to Everton.

Spain:
In Spain the top team after six rounds is Valencia with five wins and a tie. The big story is the failure of the two big teams. Barcelona Have not had much success with their new 4-2-3-1 formation and fined themselves in 7th place. For Real Madrid it’s even worse. After 6 rounds they have still not won a game and is 3rd last in the league with just four points. Benito Floro will soon be looking for a new job if something not happening soon.

Italy:
In Italy its business as usual. After just six rounds Milan is already three points clear on top of the league. The surprise is that their closest rival is Messina. They lead the pack with Roma, Inter and Juventus just behind.

Headline: Danish friendly games cancelled
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was today confirmed that the Danish national team under manager Thomas Northwood will not go ahead and play the scheduled friendly against Wales. The reason is Wales’s game against Ireland for one of the final spots in Euro-08. Wales surprised a lot of people when they finished second in group 1 behind Holland but in front of winners of the 2004 championship Greece. The other three games between second place teams where the winner will get to play in the championship are between Romania-Russia, Czech Republic- Turkey and Sweden-Norway. The winners of the doubleheader will join the following team in Euro-08 in Austria/Switzerland:

Austria – Co-host
Switzerland – Co-host
Bulgaria
Denmark
England
France
Germany
Holland
Italy
Portugal
Spain
Croatia – Best second place team

Headline: Brøndby line-up for CL Group A game against Paris SG
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Brøndby players have had two weeks to rest and prepare for this home game against Paris SG. Hopefully that means that all players are ready for fight cause they need to play up to therir best to have a chance against big favourites PSG. Brøndby will be without their normal keeper Karim Zaza. He is back home in Morocco to play World Cup qualifiers. That gives Dimitar Dimitrov the chance to prove his worth. 17 year old Jakob Ibsen from the Brøndby U-18 team will be backup. The four players in the backline are not changed and Daniel Agger is together with Jackson the defensive backups on the bench. Midfield is Leon Andreasen, Ziberi, and Retov and of cause Kahlenberg with Cochas and Kamper ready to step in if necessary. Skoubo and Yohan are on top with Germàn Denis and Stefanidis on the bench.
The two teams also played each other in last years champions league group stage. PSG won the game in Paris and got a point in Brøndby with a 0-0 game.

Champions League Group A Round 3:
Brøndby - ParisSG FT 4-2 / (HT 2 – 1)

Close to 29.000 turned up for Brøndbys second home game in this year Champions League. They saw Brøndby get unlucky after just 12 minutes. A harmless long shot deflected off Dan Anthon Johansen and went over Zaza for an early PSG goal. Just four minutes later Brøndby got back to level after Dan Anton got the chance in the other end on a Brøndby penalty. Leon Andreasen had to go off after just 20 minutes of play with an injury and was replaced by Daniel Agger. 5 minutes later Skoubo made the perfect pass to Kahlenberg that scored easily. 2-1 to Brøndby was also the result at half time after a PSG shot on the post in the last minute. In the second half PSG worked hard to get the equalizer and in the 72nd minute they were rewarded. ParisSG took a quick free kick and before Brøndby had time to react, Reinaldo had put the ball in the goal. With just 4 minutes left to play the game was decided. This time the roles were reversed when Kahlenberg was the man behind the perfect pass to Morten Skoubo. He fired the ball from the edge of the box into the top right corner. Manager Northwood changed formation and took attacking midfielder Kahlenberg out and replaced him with a defensive player Jackson. Just 4 minutes later Morten Skoubo got his second goal of the day and Brøndbys fourth when he and Jonas Kamper hit ParisSG on a perfect counter attack.
Real Madrid also won 4-2 home over Dinamo Kiev.
Brøndby Game MVP: Thomas Kahlenberg (rating: 9)

Headline: Brøndby got keeper trouble
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brøndby received £220.000 from UEFA for their win over PSG in the Champions league. It was Brøndbys 3rd win in the Champions League. Last year the won both games against Glasgow Rangers. In other good news for Brøndby, Nicolaj Agger and Mads Laudrup was selected for the Danish under 19s team. Nicolaj is the younger brother of Brøndby first team player Daniel Agger and the son of Brøndby scout Arne Agger. But it was not just good news after yesterdays win. Karim Zaza returned injured from the Morocco’s World Cup qualifier against Tanzania and will be out for two weeks. Second keeper Dimitar Dimitrov injured himself in training today and will also be out of the game against league leaders AaB in just three days. Brøndby got at total of 9 keepers under contract but the once healthy to play are all under 20 years old.

Headline: Brøndby line-up for AaB game
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopeful Brøndby can bring some momentum from the ParisSG game in to this match because it will really be needed. AaB tops the league in front of FC København with Brøndby now trailing in 3rd.
With both Zaza and Dimitrov out with injury Brøndby turn to 17year old Jakob Ibsen as goalkeeper in this important game. He has been doing very well in the u-18 team and looks like the best option. He will get lots of help from his four defenders. They have a total of 965 league games between them. Dan Anton Johansen will have to start on the bench due to his poor condition. The midfield is in strongest condition but the attack is brand new. Both Skoubo and Yohan have not recovered from the CL game and need to rest. Stefanidis and Denis will be the new but untested duo upfront for Brøndby.
AaB manager was as usual out criticising Thomas Northwood and Brøndby in the press before the game but this time GM Northwood did not give any official response.

Round 13/33:
AaB - Brøndby FT 2-1 / (HT 1-0)

This was not pretty and it was not only Brøndbys fault. Referee Knud Erik Fisker has to take his part of the blame for this strange game. It was not a hard played game but still Fisker took up the cards 13 times. 11 yellows and two red cards and a penalty were the result. Asbjørn Sennels got two yellow cards in just three minutes (the second was for a simple obstruction) and was the first player sent off after just a half hour of play. An already tired Brøndby team now had to play for one hour with just 10 players. Manager Northwood pulled out an attacker (Denis) and brought in a new defender( When Fisker rewarded AaB a penalty in the last minute of the first half it became even tougher for Brøndby. In the second half Brøndby got the goal after 10 minutes of play. Ziberi scored his first goal in the league this season to tie the game. Brøndby now spend all their time defending and hoping to get away with one point but that was out of the question when AaBs Kasper Risgård scored his team’s second goal after 73 minutes. Nothing much happened in the rest of the game except from Knud Erik Fisker who had to get the last word. He pulled up the second red card of the day in the 90th minute. This time it was AaB player Kristian Bak Nilsen who had to take an early bath.
Brøndby Game MVP: Leon Andreasen (rating: 8)

Other results:
AB – FC Nordsjælland 2-0
FC København – Sønderjyske 2-0
FC Midtjylland – Esbjerg 2-0
OB – Frem 5-1
Silkeborg – AGF 1-1

Side note:

This is once again very close to real life. Knud Erik Fisker is a real character in Danish football. When he is the reff you can always expect lots of strange cards, penalties and other wired decisions. More often then not he has to explain/defend his rulings after the game. He is always in the centre of attention, not a good thing for a referee.

Headline: Sennels out and Cochas missing

After his red card in yesterdays game Asbjørn Sennels has been given a one mach ban. That means that he has to sit out Brøndbys first game in the Danish Cup. Brøndby will enter the tournament in the 5th round when 16 teams remains. Leon Andreasen and Thomas Kahlenberg is also expected to sit out that mach due to poor condition.
Brøndby manager Thomas Northwood also hade to deal with Diego Cochas today. He was a no-show at today’s practise and was given a fine of one weeks pay (£900) by the club. He accepted the fine. The Argentinean attacking midfielder is frustrated that he is only used as backup player and thinks that a player of his calibre deserves more respect.

Headline: Brøndby line-up for Ølstykke game
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Together with the other top teams in the Danish league Brøndby enters the Danish Cup with just 16 teams remaining. The opponent Ølstykke finds themselves in the middle of the second best division in Denmark after being relegated from the best league after last season. The two teams played each other three times in the 2006/7 season with Brøndby winning all games with a total goal difference of 12-0. Ølstykkes first game in the Cup was in the 4th round where the won 2-1 over Nivå-Kokkedal.
Brøndby manager Thomas Northwood have never paid much attention to the cup and the same looks to be the case this season. Most of the players selected to start this game is backup players that will get a chance to prove themselves while the regular starters will get some much needed rest.

Arguably the biggest talent in Danish football today, Azoulay Yohan will be out for two weeks. He damaged his shoulder in training today and will be out for 2 weeks. That will keep him out of Brøndbys next Champions League game against PSG in Paris in seven days. Yohan is under contract with Brøndby for another two years but with clubs like Dortmund, Schalke04, Lyon, Leverkusen and Bochum already showing interest he can be lost for Danish football a lot sooner then that.

Danish Cup, 5th round
Ølstykke - Brøndby PT 1-3 / FT 1-1 / (HT 1-1)

After just 10 minutes of play everything looked to go Brøndbys way. Ølstykke had already been reduced to 10 men after two yellow cards to Lauth and Dan Anton Johansen had scored on a long shot from 25 yards out. Brøndby had a few more chances before Ølstykke scored on their only shot in the first half after a defends mistake by Daniel Agger. In the second half Brøndby had a shooting gallery but Ølstykkes keeper had a great game and kept the goal shot. Overtime did not produce a winner and Brøndby was in a penalty shootout for the second time of the season. Brøndbys young keeper David Ousted showed some of his great reflexes and saved 3 of Ølstykkes 4 first tries. With goal from Stefanidis, Kamper and Zimling Brøndby was ready for the 6th round of the Danish Cup.
Brøndby Game MVP: Dan Anton Johansen (rating: 8)

Round 14/33:
Brøndby - AGF FT 1-0 / (HT 0-0)

AGF came out in a surprisingly offensive formation against Brøndby. It didn’t help them much in the first half where Brøndby had a lot of chances to get the first goal. When AGF changed to a more defensive formation in the second half Brøndby also decided to change style and only play with three defenders. Dan Anton Johansen left the field and German Denis came on as the 3rd attacker. Morten Skoubo had a bad day and was replaced in the 66th minute. Just two minutes later Brøndby got rewarded. Stefanidis scored his 3rd goal of the season after an excellent executed counterattack by Brøndby.
Brøndby finally got another win in the league and now find them selves in 3rd place in the league.
Brøndby Game MVP: Babis Stefanidis (rating: 8)

Headline: Same old question

Once again was Brøndbys manager Thomas Northwood bombarded with questions about the future of Thomas Kahlenberg when he answered question after the league win over AGF. And once again Thomas Northwood declined to comment. It was mostly the same clubs watching him in today’s game as it has been the last months but today Inters scout Pietro Gatto was also present.
Thomas Kahlenbergs contract with Brøndby expires 31/12-08.
Brøndby also gave the latest news on Leon Andreasens injury. He hurt himself in the game against AGF and is out for 3-5 days. With a neck injury it’s doubtful if he will get ready for Brøndbys next champions League game this Wednesday in Paris.

Headline: Jonas Kamper happy with role
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a interview with Danish newspaper BT, Jonas Kamper today told that he is happy with his current role in Brøndby and is prepared to fight for his first team opportunity. He has seen a bit more playing time in the last couple of weeks and most people expect him to replace Martin Retov as AMR when his contract expires in a few months. Kamper played 32 first team games for Brøndby in the 2003/4 season under manager Michael Laudrup, but have never been a regular under Thomas Northwood and have only started 33 games in four seasons.

Karim Zaza is back in training but is still not ready to start. He will be on the bench with Dimitrov getting his 3rd start. With Leon Andreasen out Brøndby need a new DMC for this game. The choice surprisingly fell on Sebastian Svärd. He has not played much this season but have worked hard in practise and have improved 16 Frogman points. Jonas Kamper is getting more and more playing time and Skoubo and Stefanidis now start to know each others game.

Champions League Group A Round 3:
ParisSG - Brøndby FT 2-0 / (HT 1 – 0)

Stefanidis has the first chance after just 3 minutes when Brøndby caught PSG on a fast break. After 13 minutes PSG gets a lucky goal when a long shot from Modeste M`Bami hits Allan Olesen and completely fools Dimitrov in the goal. After 38 minutes PSG changes from an attacking formation to a lot more defensive 4-5-1.
At halftime Brøndby changes formation and decides to only have three players in the defends. With PSG only having one attacker that should not be a problem and out goes Allan Olesen after a bad day at work. He is replaced by attacker Peter Graulund. Jonas Kamper goes out with an injury and is replaced with Martin Retov. The formation change gives Brøndby a few more chances in the start of the second half. After 60 minutes of play Brøndby shots themselves in the foot. A huge mistake by Asbjørn Sennels is punished effetely by PSG for their second goal of the day. Brøndby has full control of the ball when Sennels dribbles as the last man and losses the ball to a PSG player who can score easily. The last half hour PSG just controls the game and Brøndby only manage to be dangerous on a few corners and free kicks.
In the other game in the group Real Madrid secures their spot in the next round with a win in Kiev. 1-0 on a goal by Roque Santa Cruz was enough. Santa Cruz came to Real last season from Bayern Munich for £20mil.
Brøndby Game MVP: Bashkim Ziberi (rating: 7)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite the loss to Paris SG in the Champions league yesterday and some shaky results in the Danish League the Brøndby Board still have full confidence in Thomas Northwood as manager and is very pleased with his performance.
The injury Jonas Kamper picked up in the game will only keep him out for three days and he looks to be ready for the game against SønderjyskeE 4/11.
Three players Brøndby will have to try to rest in that game is Morten Skoubo, Thomas Kahlenberg and Dan Anton Johansen. They all look very tired and will be in need of a rest soon. With games in the Royal League also starting up this month expect all three players to rest against SønderjyskeE

Sønderjyske have been in the top Danish division for the last three years but have still not won against Brøndby in seven attempts (5-2-0). With the Royal League game against FCK coming up in just four days and already a lot of tired players in the line-up this game looks like a good opportunity to rest a few starters. Dan Anton Johansen will be rested as he is one of four Brøndby players ready to travel with Denmark to Argentina to play a friendly 10/11. The other Brøndby players ready for that mach is Thomas Kahlenberg, Martin Retov and Leon Andreasen. All those players will be rested. Both Karim Zaza and Azoulay Yohan are back and will play this week.

One of the major English newspapers today used a full page making fun of successful Brøndby manager Thomas Northwood. The reason was a comment made by the manager on a press conference earlier this week when Mr Northwood confirmed that they were looking for a way to bring back Johan Absalonsen to Brøndby stadium. Absalonsen was one of the young stars of the Brøndby team Thomas Northwood took over and has made Danish champions three year in a row. The 22 year old player moved to Chelsea last year on a free transfer after his contract with Brøndby ran out. In Chelsea he has had a hard time getting in to the first team and have spend all of this season in the reserves team. Several other teams are also looking to offer the player first team football with Monaco, Everton and Blackburn being the biggest names. But with an asking price of £3.7mil the player is most likely out of Brøndbys reach but a trade might be an option. Its also questionable if the player is willing to move back to Danish football.

Round 15/33:
Brøndby - SønderjyskeE FT 2-0 / (HT 0-0)

Brøndby was in full control for the first 45 minutes of play but without scoring. The biggest chance was for Jonas Kamper who had a shot stopped on the goal line after 32 minutes of play. In the second half it was all about Babis Stefanidis. After 5 minutes of play he was pushed in the back in the penalty arrear after a long throw-in. The referee pointed at the spot and Stefanidis stepped up and made no mistake. Just three minutes later he got his second of the day. He got it on a spectacular bicycle kick that went inn from a tight angle. Unluckily he also managed to injure himself when scoring the goal and had to leave the field. He received a standing ovation when he was replaced by Germàn Denis. Brøndby had no problem controlling the rest of the game for three important points.
Brøndby Game MVP: Babis Stefanidis (rating: 9)

Other results:
AaB – OB 1-1
AB – FC Midtjylland 2-0
Esbjerg – Silkeborg 0-0
Frem – AGF 2-2
FC Nordsjælland – FC København 0-0

Headline: Niki Zimling sign new contract

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of Brøndbys future young stars Niki Zimling today decided to sign a new contract with Brøndby. He is now under contract with the club until 2010. Niki is only 22 years old but look to be the player that can take over from Leon Andreasen the day he decides to leave Danish football. Niki have already played 17 games for the Danish U21 team. He will together with Daniel Agger and Sebastian Svärd be the cornerstone in the Brøndby defends in the near future. Both Agger and Svärd is currently looking over new contract offers from Brøndby that will tie them to the club until 2010 and is expected to sign in the near future.
Brøndby only have four other first team players with contracts expiring next year. The major concern is of cause Skoubo and Kahlenberg but also Graulund and Marek will be out of contract in 2008.

Headline: Brøndby line-up for FC København Nordic League game

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first game as title defenders in this year Royal League will be against FC København. The game is played just four days after the last league game and three days before Denmark’s international friendly against Argentina. For that reason Brøndby have to be a bit creative when picking the starting 11 for this match. It’s always nice to do well in a tournament but the Royal League offers very little to play for besides being able to call your self the best team in Scandinavia. The price money is small. A draw in the Royal league will give each team £8000 in price money while a draw in the champions league group play pays £100.000. Most important it won’t give you a place in the European tournaments.
Therefore Brøndby will give some of their backup players a chance in these games and try to give them some valuable playing time.

Brøndbys top attacker Morten Skoubo was injured today in practise and will be out for about a week. He was not planed t play in the Royal League game tomorrow but its still another small blow to Brøndbys plans to defend the national title once again. He is expected to be ready for the next Royal League games against Norwegian Start 17/11 but will most likely be rested until the Champions League game against Real Madrid 21/11.

First Phase:
Brøndby – FC København FT 1-1 / (HT 1-0)

A little more then 22.000 turned up for the first game in this years Royal League. They saw Babis Stefanidis continue his good form scoring his fourth goal in four games when he placed a free kick in the left corner after 29 minutes of play. After the goal FC København totally took over the game and Magne Hoseth and Alvaro Santos both had big chances. In the second half Brøndby gave the chance to a few more “new” players putting Mehdi Guerrouad, Germàn Denis and Sebastian Svärd on the field. It didn’t help change the match picture and FC København finally got their equalizer in the 76minute after a massive press. Brøndby did have two nice chances in overtime on long shots but the final score was 1-1.

After the 1-1 draw in the first game in the Royal League Brøndby was rewarded £8.000 in price money. Brøndby also confirmed that Dan Anton Johansen, Asbjørn Sennels and Thomas Kahlenberg will need a rest soon. Sennels will not practise with the team this week. The questions from the press were as usual about Thomas Kahlenbergs future in the club and Manager Northwood declined to comment as usual. After the press conference Thomas Northwood went straight to the airport together with Leon Andreasen, Thomas Kahlenberg, Dan Anton Johansen and Martin Retov to meet up with the rest of the Danish national team and travel to Buenos Aires to play a friendly against Argentina.

Denmark’s friendly against Argentina was played today in front of close to 50.000 people. They saw two teams using this game as a practise match. Both teams was hit hard by injury from before and also decided to rest most of their star players or give them limited playing time. The Danish team was clearly handicapped by the long journey to Argentina and didn’t manage a shot on goal all match. Both teams used all their 6 substitutes and Denmark gave debut to 21-year-old Kasper Schmeichel in the second half. He came on at halftime but only got 7 minutes of play before he had the leave the field injured. The Manchester City player will be out for 2 months. The game was decided after 65 minutes when Christian D Ledesma scored from 25yds out. This was Denmark’s last national game this year.

8 teams is still looking to secure one of the 4 final spots in the European championship next year. They meet today for the first leg of the playoff with the return game to be played in just four days.

Czech Rep – Turkey
1-1

The away team Turkey took the lead after 25 minutes on a counterattack. Just 4 minutes later Milan Baros was the man behind the equaliser. Right before halftime Turkey was reduced to 10 men when H Murat was sent off. The Czech didn’t take advantage and the game ended 1-1. Turkey has the advantage before the home game in four days.

Ireland – Wales
4-1

Ireland almost booked their ticket for the championship with a 4-1 win at home over Wales. Two goals by Jon Macken and Robbie Keane give them the huge advantage.

Romania – Russia
0-3

A strong away win for Russia. Much will have to go wrong for them not finish this up at home in a few days.

Norway –Sweden
2-1

Sweden got of to a fantastic start with a goal after just 2 minutes. It was Inter attacker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who made the entire Norwegian defends look foolish. In the 20th minute the game took a new twist when Andreas Isaksson was sent off for a professional foul. Norwegian Morten Gamst Pedersen scored on the penalty. He was also the man who decided the game with his second goal of the game in the 82nd minute. A small advantage to Norway but Sweden will go thru with a 1-0 win at home due to the away-goal.

The eight teams only got four days to get ready for the final chapter in this years European qualifying tournament.

Wales - Ireland
0-1
1-5 Ireland ready for Euro-08

It only took Ireland and Jon Macken 8 minutes to get the first goal and take the last bit of hope away from Wales. Wales never had a shot on goal and Ireland is travelling to Switzerland /Austria.

Russia – Romania
1-3
4-3 Russia ready for Euro-08

Russia came close to loosing it all at home but a late goal saved the day and sends them to Euro-08.

Turkey - Czech Rep
1-0
2-1 Turkey ready for Euro-08

Milan Baros missed a penalty in the game that send the Czech Rep out of Euro-08. They needed a win but when they went on an all-out-attack in the last minutes of the game, Turkey scored on the counterattack and decided the game.

Sweden – Norway
1-1
2-3 Norway ready for Euro-08

Former Brøndby player Johan Elmander gave Sweden the lead after 49 minutes of play. This result would be enough to take Sweden to the championship. But 15 minutes later the game was decided when Trond Olsen from VfB Stuttgart scored the decisive goal for Norway. This sends Sweden heads out before the real tournament even starts and Norway a chance to finally make a difference in a major championship.
