How much does Ovechkin shoot?

As of today he's still in the lead for shots in the playoffs.

Oh for sure! I don't mean to say that the hockey isn't great (it is!), or that the fans of each team shouldn't be going nuts, etc. I would love to be super invested in this series and watching every minute of it. And if it were happening a month ago I probably would be. It's just really, really hard for people in northern locations to prioritize hockey during one of the 3 months of nice weather that we get.

The NHL season should run from Oct 1 - Feb 28. Playoffs go March and April, ending maybe very early May.

It feels so weird to be rooting for the 'hawks but I really want Kimmo to get a cup. That said, I really like this Tampa team so I would not be upset if they won either. They're gonna be good for awhile, though it'll be interesting to see if Stamkos wants to commit long term or really wants to go to Toronto like everyone in Toronto is praying for.

I can't wait for the friggin draft, two picks in the first round for the Flyers and hopefully shedding some defensemen...

My thoughts exactly and I am wondering if the rumors are true that Vinny and the Flyers can mutually agree to terminate his contract and he can become a UFA getting him off the books.

That would be great. If he's going to be a healthy scratch half the time anyways, might as well get half his salary off the books, whether that's via buyout or a trade and retaining 50% of the salary. Heeeey Nashville, you know you want him.

4 minutes to go, and the Cup hasn't made it to the United Center yet, due to the weather.

Congrats to the Blackhawks fans. Great team, great series...and if I may add, great playoff hockey all around for both squads (in my humble opinion). So close, Tampa, so close...

Congrats to the Hawks! Tampa you gave us a run for our money and are going to be a force to be reckoned with for the next few years. That Ben Bishop is a monster! Great series by both teams and the best finals I have ever watched.

Fun to see Toews get another cup. Not much to dislike about the Hawks at all, really.

On to the draft!

I will say congratulations to Timonen and say that I'm jealous of Hawks fans. Now, onwards to the draft and fire sales.

I think a couple will happen tomorrow at the draft. The Jets are in an interesting position this year, I could see them making a move of some sort.

General consensus is that Dougie was worth way more.

Along with Bergeron and Tuukka, I'd say he was one of 3 guys they HAD to keep. I would trade anyone else on that team.

I would have to agree that Hamilton was worth more than that. He was, what, the third pick overall a few years ago? It's not like he's been a bust or anything. He's been developing and seems to have his best years ahead of him still.

The salary cap crunch comes back to bite the Bruins.

Lucic to LA for Martin Jones, a prospect, and #13 overall tonight.

Great I get to see Lucic more often now. Hate that guy but would not mind having him on the Hawks.

Initial thoughts are Boston gets absolutely screwed on the Hamilton trade but does ok with the Lucic trade. Lucic really hasn't looked good for a couple years, his possession and zone start numbers are poor and he's a bit of a dinosaur in the way the league is moving.

Yeesh.. Bruins use those picks select 3 straight at 13,14,15 and only one guy rated in the top 20. Makes sense if you were looking to deal up, but that's a pretty awful return for two franchise guys.

well, I wouldn't go that far. But Avs fans are pretty okay with this deal. O'Reilly is a good player but not as good as he (or Jay Feaster) thinks he is. All the money drama with him really got old.

So so happy with the Flyers first round. Provorov is who I wanted at 7, and nabbing Konecny at 24 was awesome. If Hextall manages to trade 1-3 defensemen tomorrow, oh man.

Pronman's top goalie, and one of the other top goalies, some speed that fell in the draft, AND dumping Grossmann and Pronger's contract on AZ for Gagner. Hextall winning.

I wouldn't mind them giving Gagner a chance, last year of his deal. Rumor is they are going to buy him out which would cost something like 400k this year and 500k next year, but either way the Flyers just saved $5m+ and potentially $7m+ on the cap. Boom.

Vinny will likely be traded (with retained salary) after his $2m bonus kicks in on July 1, or bought out if there are no takers. Then the only real albatross contracts left would be MacDonald and Umberger, who could at least maybe contribute. But if Hexy can figure out how to get rid of them too...

I like what the Islanders did this weekend. And the Oilers, honestly. McDavid+Reinhart+Talbot, not too shabby.
