OT - Looking for GMs for in-depth fantasy basketball league

Seeking some new GMs for my fantasy basketball league, JBL, which has been around in some form since 1991. I’ve recently relaunched the league and the site and have been adding features and automation over the last season. There have been members from FOFC in the league previously so hoped to find some more dedicated GMs here!

As a JBL GM, you are in charge of a storied basketball franchise, and have to draft, sign, trade and manage your players, staff and their personalities to construct your team.

JBL is a huge basketball universe that comprises the pro league, as well as high school, college and European leagues (think Football Manager for basketball). While similar to the NBA, JBL differs slightly in its modelling to other basketball simulations, and isn't intended on being a complete replica of the NBA, nor its rules. It is streamlined to focus on the things that matter - roster/player development, statistical analysis, personality management. As the league runs off a custom simulation engine (developed over many years) it is not bound by the same rules or limitations that other sim leagues may have, and allows me to add new features and keep innovating.

Features of the league:
  • Games are simulated each day to a semi-realistic schedule
  • Full advanced player stats and metrics, including shooting splits, clutch stats, lineup statistics, detailed boxscores, etc.
  • Complete scouting module, including sending scouts to college
  • Realistic salary cap management, free agency negotiations, drafting, signing coaches and staff
  • A separate college universe that features all 351 Division I teams that feeds players into the pro league, which has all boxscores, stats, news etc available. All players are available to be scouted and drafted. European and other world leagues are opening to full scouting early next year.
  • GMs use Slack to keep in touch, trade and discuss the league.
  • League podcast with analysis, previews etc.
  • One of our GMs is a merchandise creator, so we have full customised jerseys with players' names on the back etc.

Despite the in-depth nature of the league, it’s pretty easy to set a team and make changes (all web-based with no software to download), but even more satisfying and addictive when engaging fully. You'll be down the rabbit hole in no time, especially if you get into scouting.

There are quite a few teams still available (existing teams as well as expansion teams) so taking anyone who is interested. We're a few weeks away from the draft and free agency so there’s a great chance to build your team the way you want.

All teams are currently filled, but we are expanding 10 more teams in a few months. Hit me up if you're interested and I can put you on the list for a team for the upcoming season.

Expanding the league next month - let me know if you're interested in taking an expansion team! I'm sure the new guys who joined from this thread not long ago can attest to how fun and challenging the JBL is

League is expanding to 10 teams to 30 teams and 82 games per season.

I'm intrigued...I don't have much computer time at home, so a league that requires the purchase of a game is a no go. But a web-based game could possibly be something I could do. How much of a time commitment is the game, per day?

Most of the time commitment comes at the start to get to know the players/teams and the mechanics. During the offseason (which is where we are now) there is some time required to scout college players and prep your team. During the season, as games are simulated every day, it only takes a few minutes to check results and make any changes (eg, if there are no injuries, you wouldn't need to change your depth chart).

There are some small requirements around writing press releases for trades and signings. The Slack channel is incredibly active and the more you put into the league the more you get out of it of course!

There's one team out of 30 left so please PM me your email if you're interested!

No worries. We are officially full with 30 GMs now, but anyone else who is interested please let me know and I can put you on the waiting list. Teams open up occasionally and FOFC members have been some of our best GMs in the past.

Bump, as there are two teams open and we are going to start the 2022 offseason in a week, real time. This is a very addictive league, and pulled me back into multiplayer sim sports after a long hiatus.

Two teams are:

Dallas Predators (expansion team with 6th overall pick in upcoming draft)
Oakland Tritons (have one of the best players in the league, a Tim Duncan clone, in his prime).

The league is very active, with podcasts, news articles and active owners.

Hmmm. What's the website again?

To add, it’s all web based. I do pretty much everything with my iPhone. Super simple to start and get into, but also super deep. I just joined a few months ago and am already familiar with the major stars and significant history.

So, I’ll continue to pimp this league. The developer is really keen on creating FM-like immersion.

The league also has college league running in the background like the NCAA. There are storylines which follow the players as they join the league.

Check out the two Twitter feeds:

I am really tempted. Need to do more research. Time is my biggest factor (the lack of it). But I really like the looks of this.

Bump. Only one team left open: Kansas City Knights. They have a guy who is basically Porzingis, in his prime at 25 years old. Draft starts on Thursday night, so plenty of time to get in and scout before the Knights pick at 1.21.
