Damn Oprah...
I watched Juno this afternoon, which put me in a very emotional mood I guess...so I turn on the TV this and it's on ABC, Oprah is on. Usually I would turn it right off, but she is profiling some kid who swam across the bay from Alcatraz to SF to break the world record. Kinda interesting.
I should have changed it. Turns out the show is on "Little People Accomplishing Big Things"...next up was the Autistic boy who managed the HS Basketball team, and for his last game, coach let him dress and put him in for the last few minutes...kid scored 6 3 pointers in 4 minutes. They show coverage of the game and have the kid on...I'm crying like a baby. And my husband is rolling his eyes b/c I'm having a "girl moment". Damn Oprah.

I went to a Reds game about 2 weeks ago and they were showing a story about a boy around 9 years old from Louisville who had cancer and lost his leg when he was 1. He is a catcher for his baseball team and plays soccer as well. So they have him on the field to throw the first pitch, and there I am at the baseball game trying to not be the dude crying, it's a good thing I was wearing sunglasses.
Also, the A&E show Intervention almost always has me bawling like a school girl. |

You mean to tell me that this happened nearly 2 1/2 years ago and you hadn't had a "girl moment" over it until just TODAY? That's Oprah, on the cutting edge of what's new and hot, I guess. |

I want to talk more about your husband watching Oprah with you...
But then again I tear up every time in the "Annie revealing herself to the cook" in the Lyndsey Lohan remake of "Parent Trap" (thanks to having a very young daughter) so I have no room to talk...

Yeah, I didn't realize it was a rerun until a few minutes later when she started talking about the movie "Akeelah and the Bee", which was "just out" on DVD |

He wasn't watching it with me, he just happened to be in the room and when he heard me sniffling he turned around and saw me crying - at which point he realized what I was crying at and rolled his eyes. I was going to watch the Open Championship, but saw all this before I could change the channel and it just sucked me in. I should have made him watch it as punishment for what he did to the laundry today... |
