Few awards- Hardaway 1st team and conf player of the year again.
Nelson- 2nd team all conf.
David Lees- who I haven't highlighted here also made 1st team. Looking over his stats I have no idea why. He averaged 2.4 blocks per game but other than that nothing special at all.

I was hoping that we would reach the 20 win mark this year but it wasn't in the cards. 2 straight 19 win seasons though look awfully good at the moment though and I couldn't be more proud of that.

UMES now has a Prestige of 28 up from 3 when we started the game. That by itself is a nice accomplishment.

Travis picked his shit up this year and brought in the 74th best class in the nation. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!

Charles Hardaway is our first player drafted as he went 47th overall. Speaking of Charles

He is first in school history in points at 1691 (passing former teammate Carl Johnson for the top spot)
1st in rebounds with 948
1st in offensive rebounds with 379
14th in assists with 135
20th in steals with 41
1st in blocks with 290
1st in field goals made
1st in free throws

He is 8th overall in the Meac in points
1st in offensive rebounds
4th in rebounds
4th in blocks
10th in field goals made
1st in free throws made

One hell of a career there. Kind wish I could see what he would be doing in the NBA but ohhh well there.

Rodney Settle is the prized recruit from this class coming in at 169 overall.

Travis also landed a decent JUCO named Errol Charland who has a 75 rating in steals. Both should have big impacts this year I think.

Well it was only a matter of time. Travis Francisco has 16 other schools offering him jobs, including 4 teams in the conf.

I'm gonna weed them out and post here. but UMES will be looking for another head coach because after a cursory look, there are a few schools that look good.

These are the schools that have been narrowed down for Travis services with the best job prestige wise highlighted in the screen shot.

Overall I am torn on where to send him. Realistically, they are all good jobs for him. They all have decent rosters, and I think the Southern Miss job would be the only one he might struggle with, and that's just because I don't see him having the ratings to succeed there.

In the end the best job for him to take is the Texas Tech job. They have the best roster and I believe the best situation. He gets an upgrade in budget by about 80 K, upgrade in Prestige by 9, he is in a recruiting hot bed in Texas, Conf USA isn't exactly a power conf, and with their prestige of 37 they fall in the middle of the conf.

On top of that their freshman class was ranked 50th last year.

UMES bids farewell to Travis and what he was able to do for our little shit hole program, that is no longer the doormat of the MEAC.

He finished up with a record of 106-203 (64-63 the past 4 years) and brought our Prestige from 3 to 28. That puts us as the 4th best school in the MEAC after being the worst. Not bad at all.

Overall I think Travis was a good hire and a good fit for us, and that our first hire in the dynasty was a good one. Right guy for the job, and he is going to hopefully reap those rewards at Tech.

Hopefully we see you in the Dance soon my friend.

So where the hell does that leave us?

I am going to adjust the rules to hiring a head coach. With the beginning of this I said I couldn't poach another head coach.

After seeing the teams that came after travis this year, that has now changed.

I can poach another head coach if the schools prestige is lower than mine but again it has to be realistic.

After an extensive national search and a few rounds of interviews UMES has decided to go with long time Washington assistant Arthur Brown.

Brown is 55 (little on the older side for my taste) and has spent that last 15 seasons at U-DUB

While there he helped guide the Huskies to an overall mark of 306-187. That's an impressive win total there. He has made the NCAA tourney 9 times and the NIT tourney once. That's 10 out of 15 years in a tourney somewhere and that's the kind of success I want to bring over here.

The guy has been successful, but for some reason has never been given his shot. He now gets it and inherits a much better program than when Travis did.

Hopefully he can keep the wins rolling in.

Don't have a lot of expectations, as Hardaway graduated and our star power went with him.

Hoping for a 500 season, and for Arthur to bring in a good class here

We end up going 13-16 and 8-8 in the conf. Tied for 7th place. We lost in the first round of the conf tourney.

Nothing much to note this year except that Nelson averaged 19 points a game and made 2nd team all conf.

Our other guard Charles Perez made the first team though. Perez graduates, but Nelson still has another year with us

Arthur Brown comes through. We land the 87th class in the nation and that is good for first in the conf.

Texas tech went 12-20 last year so Travis had a rough year out there. His recruiting was middle of the road in conf usa so that want a bad start for him there.

Roster looks ok. The freshman class looks to be something nice. All three have green potential and Mason at 6'4 will start this year at the point spot.

Hoping to be a little better this year, but we are real young.

A decent season in Arthurs 2nd at the helm. We go 15-14 and 10-6 in the conf, tied for 2nd place.

We play Norfolk state in the first round. We should have pounded them and they end up with the upset by 3 stinking points.

That's disappointing.

Recruiting ranking wise not all that great. 239 good for 6th in the conf. However, as I looked at the guys, its an ok class. they specialize in what they need to be able to do, so they should be ok being role players in the future.

Season wise, again not expecting much. Hoping for another top half finish.

Rodney Settle should take a giant leap forward this year at the SG spot. He was the big recruit 2 years ago and should finally get his chance to start after averaging 10 points last year in the 6th man role

Another Craptastic season. 11-18 and 7-9 in the conf. We once again lose in the first round of the conf tourney and it feels like we are sliding back to where we historically have been.

These recruits need to start to develop, and fast. Cause this crap cant keep going.

Missing Travis at the moment.

Recruiting comes in at 268 which is 4th to last in the conf. The PF that we landed looks to be ok, but the other guy is a scrub that needs to go.

Roster looks like its getting much better. Are we tourney ready? Prob not, but we are improving.

Hoping to get back to being around 10 wins in the conf this year. Settle averged 15 a game last year, maybe 19 this year. We will rely heavy on our guards this year

First time in the history of UMES we finish up first in the conf.

We go 16-14 and 12-4 in the conf. Neat to see that finally happen.

As you can see wit this snapshot we ran this conf. We finish up 1st or 2nd in just about every stat category that I value. Loved seeing that. 25th nationally in turnovers too. Cant be mad at taking care of the ball

So conf tourney time.

We run through the conf like I expected.

First round of the NCAA is number 2 seeded Florida. I was hoping to get seeded higher, but ohh well. They beat us 100-74 and thus ends a good season for us.

Coach Arthur was named conf coach of the year, and Junior PG- Gregory Mason won conf player of the year. Not sure why, but we will take it.

We had the 128th class in the nation. Good for 2nd in the MEAC conf.

With our success though we have been promoted to the Sun Belt Conf. Not sure how well that will play out for us so its time to go check on that

Well as you can see we will be starting from the Bottom of the conf again. Our Prestige which currently sits at 32 is only good for 2nd to last in the conf, so we will have our work cut out for us.

With the conf promotion- I am going to pick up another school to manage. Since we have done so well, and I look to be 2-2 in picking coaches some other schools have noticed little ole UMES and have offered me the job.

The Sun Belt is level 2 Prestige wise, so I am going to bump up and manage a school at the Level 3.

Those conferences would be Big Ten, Mountain West, Ohio Valley, Southern, and Southland.

Gonna once again try and keep it realistic

We decide on UC Davis Aggies.

Historically they are ok. They are 293-293 overall. They have four 20 win seasons and have been to the NCAA 4 times.

This is Travis Johnson's 4 stop as a head coach, and that doesn't exactly sit well with me. Although, honestly he has done an ok job so far. So I am not going to come in here and clean house right away. He has been here 4 years already so everybody on the roster is his so he starts to get judged right away.

They have a decent roster, and his freshman class looks to be good if they develop. So we shall see.

Before we get rolling into the next season, I also wanted to highlight former Coach Travis Francisco who if you remember left UMES to go to Texas Tech in Conf USA. Well im happy to report Travis is doing a wonderful job and in his 4 years there he has led them to a conf promotion to the big east, and been to the NCAA tournament and the NIT tourney each of the past 2 years.

UMES should be ok once again with SR and reigining conf player of the year Gregory Mason

UC Davis- 16-13 and 7-9 in conf. 3rd in the East
UMES- 13-15 and 9-9 in conf. 4th place in conf.

UC Davis clinched an NCAA berth which is pretty cool. UMES is actually in the conf title game.

I would be thrilled if they both can do this

UMES faces 1 seed Pittsburgh in the first round. I don't see us pulling this one off at all.

UC Davis faces 4 Seed Kansas State. State has a better roster but not by much. Hoping they can keep it close here.

Both teams lose by 10 points. I'm more surprised at what UMES did in their game. Good seasons by both teams however. Hopefully both coaches can keep building.

UC Davis pulls in the 38th ranked class. Good for 1st in Ohio Valley. (had 5 kids sign)

UMES pulls in the 62nd ranked class. Also good for 1st place in the Sun belt. (also had 5 guys sign)

Liking where both these teams are going right now

Arthur Brown (UMES) gets bonus points and I put them all towards recruiting. He now has 90 there.

Arthur Brown at UMES- has 3 offers. Maine, UNC Ashville, and Bucknell. Thankfully none are better jobs, all have lower prestige, We get to keep him this round.

Travis Johnson at UC Davis has 4 offers. Washington, Stanford, Idaho, and Arizona State. Before you go wow he has some big time jobs. Washington and Stanford have fallen on some hard times and are in lower conferences than we would expect. Idaho is just ok, but Arizona State is the job he is going to take. They are still in the PAC and have a Prestige of 58 and about 250,000 more of a budget. Do I think he will win there? No but its a better job and one someone in the real world would take. So off he goes.

sigh. Was not planning on having to find a head coach here in year 2. Guess that tourney run last year for Davis wasn't so fun afterall

After and interesting search I decided to hire a Head coach this time and not an assistant.

I decided on Robert Andrews from NJIT. He has compiled an overall record of 51-45 with a team that is well ehhhhh. I liked that. I also like the fact that he was with the CUSE for 5 years making the tourney all 5 years and he has a title to his name. and Ohhh by the way in his 3 years with NJIT, he made the tourney once and the NIT once. All this guy seems to do is win

His ratings are 73,18,69 and 60. Hoping he can come in and keep this team moving forward.

However, the next round of offers has Arthur Brown and his 60 year old butt getting 8 offers. I gotta look through them, but 2 names that stand out to me already are NJIT(not that its good), whos coach I just took for UC Davis, and Texas Tech. I gotta see if my boy Francisco got fired or took another job there

NJIT, Fresno State and Leigh all get told No thanks right from the get go.

That leaves Manhattan, Texas Tech, George Washington, Florida Atlantic, and Alcorn State as possibilities

Travis Francisco has retired. So that's why the Texas Tech job is open. and boy did he retire at the right time. They went 6-25 last season in the Big East and got Demoted back to Conf USA. Didn't want to come back for another beating.

Texas Tech has now been crossed off the list after looking at that craptastic roster

Roster wise Florida Atlantic takes the cake followed up by GW.

GW wants to make the Tourney, Florida Atlantic wants to win the conf title.

Wagner is out.

Alcorn State has the best future with that freshman class after looking at them. GW has such an unbalanced roster that they gotta go.

Down to Florida Atlantic and Alcorn State

In the end, Florida Atlantic it is. Arthur Brown gets his shot at big time basketball in the American Conf. We wish him well

In the end we go with an Assistant Coach this time.

Keneth Staley comes over to us from Oklahoma State. All he did there was straight up win making the NCAA tourney 5 out of the 7 years.

He is 34 so I am hoping he sticks with the program a few years here and grows with the team. His ratings are 92,31,23 and 74.

Ya lol. In retrospect I shouldn't have been playing with conf movement full blown. Limited should have been the choice. Its getting hard to find teams when trying to look for guys honestly. It doesn't make sense to stop the movement now, so im just gonna keep plugging along and see where everybody ends up.
