Movie Quote Draft

The last draft I ran (Movie comedy draft - Front Office Football Central) was a lot of fun, and in it I mentioned it would be cool to do one with movie quotes. So here we go!

Rules:
1. All selections must be movies. No TV shows, plays, etc.
2. You will draft quotes from several movie genres, listed below.
3. You must fit these in several time periods, also listed below.
4. Once a quote from a movie is made, no other quotes from the same movie will be allowed. Think carefully about which quote you want to use.
5. Quotes from the same actor or actress are allowed.
6. The audience will vote once all picks have been made. Participants may vote, but can't vote for themselves.
7. Don't give out potential answers.
8. Try to be somewhat expedient with your picks. Also, as a courtesy, PM the person who is picking after you once you have made your pick.

I'll take the first 10 who are interested as the participants. At that point, I will determine draft order randomly. This will be a serpentine draft (1st pick then 20th pick, 2nd pick then 19th pick, etc.)

The other movie one was tons of fun. I'll give this one a shot too.

Do have one question, what about misquotes? There's several popular "quotes" from movies that are actually wrong. Do they count since they've entered mainstream consciousness? Not arguing for them, just curious.

So far, I've got larrymcg421, NobodyHere, Suicane75, DavidCorperial, Breeze, Surtt, and ColtCrazy as in, with timmae as a possibility. That leaves 3 more spots open if we don't count timmae.

As for the misquote option, I think we should leave it up to the voters to decide, if the participants agree. I had actually thought of this possibility for a couple of popular misquotes. I don't want to name any specifics, but some of the misquotes are insanely famous, so I wouldn't necessarily want to exclude them. But I am open to anyone's thoughts.

I was going to come on here this morning to say the exact same thing, I think we are all thinking of the one particular quote. As an observer, I would prefer the actual quote to be used (so it's clear which quote was chosen), not some paraphrase or bastardized version of it.

Well as a voter I'm penalizing people who misquote.

I would agree with that. Glad to see others would vote against misquotes as well. Way too many great quotes to pick without taking a handful of misquotes. But I'm fine if people want to take a chance on them.

OK, we've got 10. I'll post the draft order shortly. I realize it's Valentine's Day, so the draft may go a little slow today, but we'll try and keep it moving as best as possible.

Here's the order for the first round. Remember, this is serpentine, so the 10th pick in odd number rounds have the first pick in even number rounds.

1. DavidCorperial
2. korme
3. Suicane75
4. Breeze
5. larrymcg421
6. Surtt
7. ntndeacon
8. NobodyHere
9. Maple Leafs
10. Colt Crazy

Just a reminder to PM the next person after you when it is their pick. Good luck everyone!

How are we handling lines that are spoken in multiple movies?

If you use a quote that's from a lesser movie than where it originated, I assume you can expect to lose some credit.

I would think voting would take care of that. Wouldn't look good taking the same quote from a different movie.

Casablanca was a good one, as it will now eliminate several good quotes, including the sure-to-be controversial "Play it again, Sam" quote.

Starting to look like the categories could be an area of contention. Will be interesting to see how voters handle that.

I was pretty sure this would get taken, but it's always bothered me that he mispronounced Chianti.
