This is an idea I tried with Football Manager a while back. It didn't really work there, but I did some testing and think it will work much better with FBCB.
1) Each participant will select a team from one of the following conferences - America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, MEAC, Northeast, Southland, SWAC, WAC 2) All teams selected will be given a prestige of zero 3) Each participant will select a skill in the game. All players on that team will always have a 100 in that skill. (This is all you have to do. CPU will control everything else) 4) No skill may be selected by more than one participant. The 1st skill will be given on a first come, first serve basis. 5) Teams will unlock their 2nd skill by getting an NCAA tourney berth. (First Four doesn't count) 6) Teams will unlock their 3rd skill by winning an NCAA tourney game. However, no team will get their 3rd skill until everyone gets their 2nd skill. (This will just determine the order it gets selected.) Sign up below with your team and your skill.

Awesome. I'll get started soon.
I did think of an additional rule. In case multiple teams unlock a skill in the same season, preference will be given to: 1) Head to head matchups that season 2) Who made it the furthest round 3) Who had the better seed in the tournament 4) Overall record

Team: Prairie View A&M AD: rjolley Head Coach: Lamar Tetrault (65 Rec, 42 Sct, 47 Off, 26 Def) Recruiter: Michael Levinson (33 Rec) Scout: Norbert Starkey (33 Sct) Assistant: Chris Soto (32 Off, 29 Def) Key Players: PG Benjamin Donnelly Preseason Ranking: Unranked Outlook: The main advantage of having a super smart team is the coach won't have to waste study time in training camp, so there might be increased potential gains. Also, there is no chance of academic suspensions. The drawback is there is no major immediate impact on the basketball being played. Might pay off in the long run, but I'd expect a difficult 1st season. Donnelly is by far the best player, but is only the 22nd best player in the SWAC, although he is a Freshman. Code:

This will come in handy as nobody on the team is good at creating their own shots. The good news is they have some legit wing players. The bad news is two of them are Seniors. However, Pace is a Freshman and should be the future star of the team. A lack of good bigs will be a problem this season. Their best weapon may be in recruiting as Head Coach McCollum has a 92 there. However, they can do almost nothing else of note. Rebounding and Defense is atrocious and none of them can create their own shots. To add insult to injury, their best player Markus is suspended to start the season. The best thing they have going for them is big men who can shoot the 3 ball and create matchup problems for opponents. Code:

It'll be interesting to see what super fast C and PF's do. The good news is Head Coach Williams is a great game day coach, particularly on the defensive end. The bad news is the atrocious recruiting skills of Kelly and his assistant. Code:

As great as the Bucs are on defense, they are inept on offense. Even their best player Edmond has a pathetic 4 in Handling. They do have the best recruiter in the game as their Head Coach and one of the most useful skills long term, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Code:

FOFC Pre-season rankings...
1. Hartford 2. Portland State 3. Charleston Southern 4. Lamar 5. Kennesaw State 6. Prairie View A&M I don't expect anyone to unlock their 2nd skill this season, unless there is a lucky run through the conference tourneys.

January Update
Prairie View A&M (1-9, 0-1), RPI: 156th Not a good start for the Panthers, as they're being outscored by an average of 25 pts per game. For some reason, their best player Donnelly isn't even starting. Hopefully, the easy conference schedule can lead to some more victories. Code:
Hartford (7-6, 0-2), RPI: 83rd The month ended rough, as Hartford dropped their first two conference games of the season. However, they have had the best season among FOFC teams so far. Unsurprisingly, their expert passing has led them to 2nd in the nation for assists, but it has also led to .516 FG percent (#3 in the nation) and very few blocked shots against (#11 in the nation). William Pace has led the way with 16.1 pts, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. Code:
Kennesaw State (3-9, 0-0), RPI: 248th As expected, they lead the nation in 3P shooting (.450) and Points Per Shot (1.50). Unfortunately, they've been terrible in almost every other way, including giving up a porous 75.7 pts per game and committing 17.8 turnovers per game. Code:
Lamar (5-6, 1-0) RPI: 140th The quickness seems to have helped them mostly on the defensive end as they've only allowed 52.5 pts per game, #11 in the nation. The most interesting stat is the leading scorer is C William Adamson, despite having almost no offensive skills. Opposing Centers must be unable to keep up with his speed. Code:
Charleston Southern (5-7, 1-3), RPI: 187th Allowing only 51.4 pts per game, they boast the 7th best defense in the nation. However, they've only scored 46.9 pts and ended the month on a three game conference losing streak. Elmer Edmond is their highest scorer with 7.7 pts per game. Code:
Portland State (1-10, 0-0) RPI: 267th Jump Shooting hasn't seemed to help them in any meaningful way so far. Their inability to get open shots is dooming them to a .382 FG percentage. Even Ferdinand James is struggling, with only 8.7 points per game on .318 shooting. Code:

Update
Prairie View A&M (6-14, 4-6), RPI: 300th Prairie View continued to struggle at the beginning of conference play, but won 5 of their last 6 games. Code:
Hartford (7-6, 0-2), RPI: 230th Won 5 of last 8 conference games, but suffered an embarassing loss to 4-17 UMass Lowell. Code:
Kennesaw State (6-15, 2-5), RPI: 293rd The Owls continue to hit threes, but do nothing else of note. [code] Code:
Lamar (11-9, 7-3) RPI: 172nd Conference play has been good to Lamar, mostly thanks to C James Harris, who returned from suspension to average 14.7 points per game. Code:
Charleston Southern (8-14, 4-7), RPI: 279th Inability to score is still dooming them, but they did win 2 of their last 3. Code:
Portland State (4-15, 3-5) RPI: 292nd Finally picked up a few victories thanks to some solid offense from SG Gravely. FG percent has improved to .409 Code:

Thanks! It's a slow start because I made everyone a prestige of 0. Things will pick up as recruits start coming in. Even bad recruits are better than the rosters you guys have started with.

Update
Prairie View A&M (8-20, 6-11), RPI: 304th Prairie View started the month with 5 straight losses, but managed a couple victories at the end of the month. So far, they've only beaten 1 team with a winning record. Code:
Hartford (16-13, 8-8), RPI: 234th More wildly inconsistent play, staying at .500 in the conference. They win the rematch against UMASS Lowell, but then fall to anothe crappy team in Maine. Code:
Kennesaw State (9-20, 4-10), RPI: 282nd The Owls still dominate from outside, leading the nation in 3pt made (12.2 pg), 3 pt shooting (.454), and Points Per Shot (1.47). It is just not translating to wins yet. If they can get anyone in with any decent basketball skills in other areas, they should be pretty dangerous. Code:
Lamar (15-13, 11-6) RPI: 186th I was way off in my preseason picks as Lamar is clearly the best FOFC team at this point. Their defense has improved to #3 in the nation and C James Harris continues to give opposing defenses huge matchup problems (up to 15.6 ppg). Code:
Charleston Southern (9-20, 5-13), RPI: 284th That defense is still impressive, but it's not enough. If Blakeny can show off his recruiting prowess, then they could be a force to be reckoned with in the future. I would not have wanted to be in attendance for their lone win of the month. Code:
Portland State (6-21, 5-11) RPI: 302nd Still can't create shots. They desperately need some guys with high INS. Code:

It's conference tourney time. This is a big deal, because it's the best chance for someone to unlock that 2nd skill. Just a few lucky wins can do it.
SWAC Tourney 1st round: (9) Prairie View vs. (8) Southern The Panthers keep their season alive with a dominating win over Southern. John Olson and Miles Dizon both come up big. Code:
2nd round: (9) Prairie View vs. (1) Texas Southern The Panthers have no prayer against the #1 seed, falling behind by 22 in the 1st half and never recovering. They missed all 14 3 point attempts. Code:

1st round: (5) Hartford vs. (4) New Hampshire Freshman sensation William Pace gets into early foul trouble and only plays 11 minutes. And fouls would be the story of the day. Hartford took 12 more shots than UNH, but UNH had a 40-2 edge in free throws. Code:

1st round: (6) Kennesaw State vs. (3) USC Upstate KSU's 3 pt shooting makes them a good candidate for a surprise upset and they almost pull it off here. Led by Thomas Markus, who scored 28 pts and hit 5 of 11 3 pointers, they have USC Upstate on the ropes until a few execution errors down the stretch doom them. Code:

1st round: (10) Charleston Southern vs. (7) Longwood The way Charleston Southern's suffocating defense dismantles Longwood is what makes me think (despite a rough 1st season) they may be the best set up fo the long haul. Longwood was forced into 19 turnovers and shot .364 from the field. Code:
2nd round: (10) Charleston Southern vs. (2) UNC Asheville Even in defeat, the Bucs show their potential. They give UNC Asheville a scare, staying within 2 at the half and almost completely shutting down their offense. In the 1st 8 minutes of the 2nd half, UNC Asheville only scores 5 pts. Unfortunately, the Bucs can't take advantage as they only score 2 themselves. They soon fall too far behind to mount a comeback. Code:

1st round: (5) Lamar vs. (8) Texas A&M CC Trailing 37-29 midway through the 2nd half, Lamar outscores their opponents 26-9 the rest of the way. James Harris led the way with 20 pts. Code:

1st round: (10) Portland State vs. (7) Idaho State Man, the Vikings had this one! They were up 25-15 (!?) at the half. However, Idaho State opens the 2nd half on a 17-2 run and never relinquished the lead after that despite some spirited play by Ferdinand James. Code:

Not the best incoming group, but some of these guys will turn into solid players with the extra 100's.

End of 2021-22 Update
No one came very close to unlocking a new skill, but there were some early glimmers of hope in Lamar and Hartford. We may still be a couple seasons away from that happening, but once that 2nd skill hits, I think teams will start to dominate. NCAA Championship: (1) Arizona 74, (1) Virginia 57 All-FOFC Team C James Harris, Lamar PF Lionel Burnside, Prairie View A&M SF John Ringer, Hartford SG William Pace, Hartford PG Thomas Markus, Kennesaw State MVP: SG William Pace, Hartford In-Game Awards National Freshman of the Year - SG William Pace, Hartford All-Freshman Team - SG William Pace, Hartford America East Coach of the Year - Rod McCollum, Hartford Freshman of the Year - SG William Pace, Hartford All-League 1st Team - SF John Ringer, Hartford All-League 1st Team - SG William Pace, Hartford All-League 2nd Team - SG Carrol Johnson Hartford All-Freshman Team - SG William Pace, Hartford All-Freshman Team - PF Gregory Medina, Hartford Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team - SF Mark Walker, Kennesaw State Southland Coach of the Year - Curt Williams, Lamar All-Freshman Team - PF Charles Kelly, Lamar

Season Preview 2022-23
Note: I switched up the order of reports to conference alphabetical order. Team: Hartford AD: DavidCorperial Head Coach: Rod McCollum (92 Rec, 16 Sct, 8 Off, 64 Def) Recruiter: Conrad Campos (33 Rec) Scout: Jefferson Potter (34 Sct) Assistant: James Graham (23 Off, 38 Def) Key Returning Players: SG William Pace (National Freshman of the Year) Key Incoming Players: PG Merle Tibbets, SG Edwin Quarles (Juco) Preseason RPI Ranking: 107th Prestige: 3 Outlook: My pick to be the best FOFC team last season. They ended up as the 2nd best team, but they have a lot going for them in their bid to improve. While they lost their 1st and 3rd highest scorers from last season, they bring in a couple guys who can immediately replace them. Tibbets is a legit PG who can score and Quarles is a pure shooter who can also play a little D. The bad news is they didn't add any help for their frontcourt, an area where they really struggled last season. Code:

Season Preview
Team: Kennesaw State AD: law90026 Head Coach: Charles Sandy (63 Rec, 31 Sct, 63 Off, 23 Def) Recruiter: Charles Prosser (33 Rec) Scout: David Unruh (34 Sct) Assistant: Scott Castellanos (26 Off, 35 Def) Key Returning Players: PG Thomas Markus (All-FOFC), SF Charles Lerma Key Incoming Players: C Arthur Ryall, SG Octavio Jones (JUCO) Preseason RPI Ranking: 135th Prestige: 2 Outlook: The Owls were the best 3 pt shooting team in the league last season, but it wasn't enough to win them many games. The good news is they lose no one notable, but pick up a really good JUCO scorer. Their new Center is an odd duck. An okay rebounder and shot blocker, but no Inside or PostD presence. He can steal the ball and hit threes. Will be interesting to see how he fits. They will definitely be better than last year, but how much better? Code:
