in soccer, tradition is the main reason for everything To be fair, this is one area where the trend is against more comercialism (TV stations and others would love more commercial break oportunities. Consider how much they allready pay for the world cup while having only whatīs essentially a 10 minutes window for commercials) But a happy medium would be nice. I certainly donīt want games dragging on like todays NBA games or NFL games, but the current net game time is betwen 50 and 60 minutes anyway (was 55 on average for the 2006 world cup)

If they started finding ways to add commercials in before the halves were finished I would absolutely give up on the sport. It is one of its major appeals to me. I used to be a big Minnesota Vikings fan, now I usually have them on in the background while I'm doing something else. 60 minutes of action + 2.5 hours of commercials and ex-jocks blabbing on. Touchdown, commercial, extra point, commercial, kickoff, commercial. Um, no thanks. Last edited by sovereignstar v2 : 05-02-2013 at 05:21 PM. |

So after a terrible run, Leicester get into the playoffs with a goal two minutes into injury time, against Nottingham Forest, one of our biggest rivals, away, a fixture we hadn't won for 42 years!
At the end of the 90 it was 2-2 and both teams knew a winner would put them into the last playoff spot, but a draw meant both would miss out. So it ended up like a kids game - we cleared the ball from their attack and ended up with a four on one breakaway from the halfway line - not seen anything like it for ages. At one point our keeper Kaspar Schmeichel made three great saves in a minute sandwiched around another chance where our winger clearing it off the line! Great scenes, even the Forest fans clapped both sides off (apart from the one scumbag who spat on one of our players) Now we get Watford, who beat us 2-1 a week or so ago, but had two keepers injured yesterday and their centre forward sent off. Plus they missed out on automatic promotion, so are disappointed to be in the playoffs, while we are on a high after sneaking in... Momentum?

Because he kicked out at Luiz. Luiz didn't cover himself with glory with his reaction (don't think he did anything wrong before Rafael lashed out), and there was minimal contact, but letter of the law says he had to go.

Wigan looks to be in an okay spot now, with the HUGE Win at West Brom over the weekend.
35 Points with Three Matches to Play.. If they can handle the Two Home Matches, v. Swansea, and v. Aston Villa, 41 Points may very well be enough to stay up. Goal Differential could come into play, but they aren't in bad shape at the moment, and in that scenario should (I hope) be okay.

The Monaco situation gets worse.. the French Football Authorities demand Monaco move their headquarters to French soil (and thus have to pay taxes), or pay the French Football Association 200 Million euros in damages.

Ok, the EPL is BANANANANANANANANANAS
True, the top two spots are pretty much decided. The bottom two, likewise... But as we stand right now (Man City leading West Brom and more importantly, Wigan leading Swansea), this is the current standings of everyone who can possibly be relegated with two games plus to play Note: This standings are Live as of 3:50 PM EDT and assuming the matches finish the way they currently are: 9th Swansea 43 -2 *LOSING 1-0* 10th West Ham 43 -8 11th Stoke 41 -10 12th Fulham 41 -10 13th Aston Villa 40 -21 14th Southampton 39 -11 15th Sunderland 38 -12 16th Wigan 38 -21 *WINNING 1-0 Currently* 17th Norwich 38 -22 ------ 18th Newcastle 38 -23

Swansea and West Ham are safe despite being able to be caught by Newcastle as other teams have to play each other, taking points off each other (Wigan/Villa, Southampton/Sunderland)

Wigan are losing, and are at 35 points, they need to win both remaining games probably.

Lots of rumors that Sir Alex Ferguson will retire due to health issues, maybe as early as tomorrow.
There's a press conference at Old Trafford tomorrow that was originally rumored to be announcing Rooney to Bayern, but is now rumored to be the retirement announcement. So it'll probably end up being a new contract for Scholes or something similarly as boring. |

Betting odds are Everton's Moyes as favorite, Mourinho as second favorite.

Moyes is the heavy favorite with the bookies. But David Gill has said, "He (the next manager) needs the required football experience in terms of domestic and European requirements, so it is a small pool" and perhaps that rules out Moyes?

Out of curiosity, when applying to a high-level managerial position in the EPL, is it necessary to actually append your FM save file to the cover letter as an attachment, or is a printout of the game history sufficient?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is getting a fair amount of buzz as Sir Alex's replacement.

David Moyes is the best SAF replacement according to FM13
Only Moyes won next season's EPL title. Mourinho and Solskjaer both finished second in the simulation. Jurgen Klopp only lasted a few months before being fired. |

By the way, that story is all based off one that originated in the Spanish newspaper AS. Such a great newspaper that they cited Sulaiman al-Fahim as City's owner instead of Sheikh Mansour. Anywho, Pellgrini shares the same agent as the young Malaga star Isco. Isco, who has been strongly linked to City since before the January window.

Some of the football you played was really good. Nasty injury to Murray helps your cause in the 2nd leg. I agree with Poyet: Brighton 60:40 favourites now, while I think our game is 50:50.
