President Infinity

I was just wondering if anyone has purchased and/or played this game:

President Election Game 2016 | 270soft.com

I looks very good... and a lot of detail.

Often considered one of the best election sim out there....ton of detail and reasonably priced. But with that detail, have to admit I sometimes get lost in it. There is a demo available, I recommend you give that a try first. But if you are really into the election process, you'll probably enjoy it.

It is a fun game. A lot of detail and took a few turns to stop getting myself lost in that detail but that adds to the challenge.

I still don't understand how this or any other modern election games don't include a "general state of the economy/mood of the country" qualifier to enter before you start a campaign, along with a "is one of these people the incumbent." Since those things massively impact an election, it seems like a basic thing to include.

President Elect had these things but that game was from the 1980s.

Political Machine 2016 is another popular one...and on Steam Little lighter than Infinity, but sometimes that's not a bad thing.

PI is the only election sim out there right now that's worth anything IMO. I've sunk quite a few hours into it.

I bought it, but haven't broke through the learning curve yet. It seems from looking at the forum that even the hard core players don't seem to know all the features or what all of the on-screen information is telling you. I'm not sure my OCD will allow me to get into a game where I feel like I'm missing big parts of it, but I will give a shot.

I went ahead and purchased it too. Looks excellent! Can't decide if I want to play the 2016 campaign or one of the 70+ user created historical campaigns that are available. I'm thinking about replaying the 1968 campaign as Bobby Kennedy and see if I can get him to the White House with an alternate history of him surviving the assassination attempt (or the attempt never even occurring). It'd be really interesting to replay the 1860 campaign too! I've read a bunch of comments over there regarding these historical campaigns and it sounds like most of them are really nicely done.

Edit: 1968 actually comes with the game... It is not a user created campaign. 1912 with Teddy Roosevelt and the Bull Moose Party comes with the game too!

It has a very nice learning curve. There are certain things like finances you will likely mess up your first couple of games. Overspending on advertising early on in the races only to have no financing left for the week or two before the election.

I hate these games because I always buy them and play 1980 over and over again trying to get Jimmy Carter re-elected and fail. Breaks my heart...

I really want to like this game, but my problem is that I can't really find a good manual for how to play it. I created a new candidate, and battled my way up to take a very slight lead in the primaries. Then everyone dropped out, giving their support to Rubio, and it was game over. I still haven't figured out how to avoid that situation from happening.

Check candidate drop likelihood percentages regularly. I like to start spamming drop/endorse offers once percentage hits the 20s.

Oh yeah, played the hell out of that one. I think the developer died, he posted here a few times IIRC.

It doesn't quite do that. You run it and it predicts EVs and popular vote % and I ran it today and he won 8 out of 10 times when I started in September general election race. Didn't play it out, just simulation mode.

I enjoy the game quite a bit, but I have crash problems running it on my Mac, and the developer doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.

Hm...it works for me on Mac, but maybe I haven't played enough to run into errors. Bummer when that happens tho, I know.
