West Coast League: Blind Re-vote for Conference Selections (ACC and Big 12 are in)
I'm making this thread just to highlight what I decided in the other thread due to some discussion about changing votes and people re-considering their votes:
I'm going to make an executive commish call on this and start a blind re-vote. I'll PM anyone who hasn't PM'd me their vote by this evening. I think voting for 3 conferences is a good compromise btw picking 2 and 4. Of course, the top 4 will get used unless the vote is within 1 for conferences that would be selected and those that wouldn't be in which case we'll determine what needs to be done at that point. Please do not post your vote here, but send it via PM to me. The old thread listed all of the teams under 80 and had a link to all of the team's ratings. Feel free to use this thread to convince others to vote for which conferences you want, including posting out pro's and con's of each conference.

I do think we should vote for conferences where there would be more of a challenge to get to the top, a.k.a. NOT the Big East. |

Sent my votes.
I think you should vote for whatever conferences you want to play. I'm thinking, playing on AA and playing with crappy sub-80 teams (the worst teams in the conference and country), that we should really have a hard time for at least two or three seasons against most teams. Then you throw in the difficulties we'll have recruiting with a low-prestige (both as a program and coach) program against the rest of the country. Over time, the tide could turn. The BE could put together a couple of strong recruiting classes and become a real power conference. The ACC could have down years. Conferences should go through up and down phases. i know for myself, i didn't know how inferior the Big East was in comparison to other conferences. it was more of a selfish thing, as in "i know Syracuse is the only major NY presence in the game, the BE is in my region, i'll vote for the BE." but for someone who doesn't really care about Syracuse or the Big East i'd rather some other guy who is really into the Pac-10 teams be happy. i don't follow college football, my alma mater isn't D1, so no matter what i'll have fun in this league and it won't be dependent on what school i control. for someone else, they may get bored quickly not being able to play their favorite school. besides, i can't think of any sexy rivalries in the BE, which means other conferences may have better games with a rivalry trophy on the line.

We have about half of the votes. I thought it won't hurt to post just my vote (in the interest of transparency) which are the same as before except I've been convinced that the Big East may not be competitive enough so I'm dropping that one.
So, my votes are for Pac 10, SEC, and Big 12. I'll send PM's out in a few to those who haven't voted yet.

How many votes does one need for a conference to be locked in?

There isn't a set number. I'm not going to reveal how close any conference is to being locked in because that defeats the purpose of the blind voting. I'll reveal all of the totals and who voted for which conference once I have all of the votes. I'm still waiting for 4 votes.

Just FWIW, I don't check the Dynasty Reports sub-forum at all really so it takes a conscious effort to check this sub-sub-forum. Many times I forget to do so since the game hasn't come out yet. Other people may be in the same boat. |

Thanks for the info. I'll start using PM's more often to remind people of polls if they haven't voted within a few hours. As it is, I PM'd everyone around 6 last night who hadn't voted. Hopefully, we'll have this one wrapped up in the next day or two. |

All we are waiting for on this is Cartman. I'm sure once he gets back from Vegas, he'll get his vote in (or maybe during a brief check-in later this weekend.)

How long is he in Vegas for? I can't stay there for longer than 3 days at a time...too much temptation.

Yeah, sorry about not being around. This is pretty much the only time all year I can get away from being tied to a laptop 24/7, so I take as much advantage of it as possible. Starting tomorrow, I'll be around all the time like usual.

No problem, Cartman.
The vote doesn't resolve everything, but we have 2 leagues selected and 1 eliminated: Galaxy - SEC, Pac 10, Big 12. Kodos - Big 10, ACC, Big 12. Sun Tzu - SEC, Big 10, ACC Hell Atlantic - ACC, SEC, Big 10. SirFozzie - ACC, Big East, Big 12. Eaglesfan27 - Pac 10, Big 12, SEC. Raiders Army - ACC, Big East, Pac 10. bhlloy - Pac 10, Big 10, Big 12. kcchief19 - Big 12, Pac 10, SEC. Terps - ACC, Big 10, Big 12. kingnebwsu - ACC, Big 10, Big East Cartman - Big 12, SEC, Pac 10 Tally after all votes: ACC - 7 Big 10 - 6 Big 12 - 8 Big East - 3 Pac 10 - 6 SEC - 6 So, the Big 12 and ACC are definitely in. The Big 10, Pac 10, and SEC are all alive for the final 2 spots and the Big East is definitely out. I'm trying to decide which way would get the best separation of votes for follow-up vote. Each person votes for their top choice or top two choices? Either way, I think it should be another blind vote so people voting later don't have an advantage over those voting earlier.

Ok, thought about it for a few. Everyone send me a PM with your 2 choices that you want to be in the league. Hopefully, this will get at least 1 more team in if not both teams. We'll have a final vote if there is a tie between the bottom 2.
Again for the sake of transparency, my 2 choices: Pac 10, SEC.

Yes, I'm sure I'm the only one who would be disappointed if their preferred conferences didn't make the cut.
