Terps goes with a sleeper team in a state packed with conference rivals such as North Carolina and Duke, among others. All of these teams have been down the last several years, and I sense a breakout year for either UNC or NC State this year. Will Terps have what it takes to lead the Wolfpack to a conference title? Will UNC be able to challenge for the ACC crown? I think the Wolfpack have hired a solid coach who will get them to at least 7-8 wins this year. If his team gels in the early part of the season, look for the Wolfpack to make a bid for the ACC in his first year.

I'll take Boston College because they'll be the best option for recruiting in my native Northeast.

I considered Stanford because they are in California and I think that will be an advantage. However, I'm going to go with the Washington Huskies. They have the most dynamic QB of the teams that are eligible in the Pac-10, and I think Jake Locker will be a blast to use for 2 (or hopefully 3) years even if he won't have many weapons around him in the 1st year.

I don't know if Terps did, but I did after my pick. As commish, I'll also PM someone if they haven't picked within 12 hours, but I'm not going to put a hard time limit on picks as the game is still a few weeks from being out and we'll clearly finish in plenty of time. I'll just ask everyone to be courteous.

As long as 2 people don't pick Pac-10 teams before you (which I think is possible from what I know of people's preferences/geographic locations.)

i think it'll be cool to have running commentary in this thread, but to make it easier for the commish perhaps we should bold our pick so that they don't have to wade through an endless muckety muck of posts.

I'm going with the hometown team. The team that plays just 3 minutes from where I'm sitting right now.

The Stanford Cardinals.

I like the idea of recruiting the local boys to play under me (that ones for you HA), but the fact that I have a 74 OVR rating isn't going to help much.

I figured you would take Stanford when I told him that I expected them to be taken earlier. You mentioned them in one of the previous threads.

Yeah...I wanted to take as low rated team as possible...and I like the idea of having the hometown team. Since I don't really have any one team I'm emotionally attached to, this is the closest I could get.

A&M chops down trees for a bonfire and you punch them, so I see the natural fit.

Find a way to get me the Hoosiers, and I will gladly hand over the Eagles. Now you get to watch as I run your beloved team INTO THE GROUND.

So is it gonna be me, Cartman, and Galaxy in the SEC? Cuz that's how it's looking right now since none of the top 6 have picked an SEC team. From reading his earlier posts I think Galaxy will pick an SEC team.

I've changed my mind and I will go ahead and pick in advance (even though I'm still pissy about it ) I will not have access to a computer from Friday morning until Sunday night. I'll logon here Sunday night to see if it's my pick, and will make my pick Sunday night (sorry, but I'll be out of town).

I'll keep an eye on the forum tonight (and possibly tomorrow morning). If #'s 7-9 all pick tonight then I'll go ahead and pick. If not, it'll have to be Sunday night. Sorry.

BTW, anyone have a link to all the player's ratings on OS? Thanks in advance.

I hope there's still a spot outside the SEC left for me. As a Buckeye fan, the thought of losing to LSU or Florida is enough for me to take my NCAA 09 disc and throw it out the window. And no, I'm not being cute/dramatic. Damn SEC

I really don't have a choice as to where I go, having the last pick.

To be honest, it really doesn't matter. I'll be happy wherever I go. If it does come down to you, cartman, and myself in the SEC, it would be a lot of fun. It'll be brutal and tough (especially if your in the East Division). I think it's the toughest conference top to bottom. However, the conference does have it advantages.

You could always just create a list of teams (in order) and PM it to Eaglesfan27. Then he could take the top selection off your list in the conference that has an opening.

Sorry, packers just left. I pick Oklahoma State. Guess since I'm moving to OK, I'll pick one of the teams there.

I would've picked from the SEC, since I think it'll be easier to get a higher national ranking, but oh well.

i was gonna go for BC cuz they, out of all the available teams, were the best viable North East team. but they were taken.

i was gonna go for Kansas or OSU, but with Raiders Army took OSU which closed off the Big 12.

so i'm deciding on either Duke or Washington St.

i'd go with Duke cuz they're in the East (Atlantic Coast, baby) and i can crap on Kodos every season and they have a nice mascot. i'd go with Washington St. cuz i'd have a great rivalry game with EF27 every year and beating up on the likes of USC and Oregon does wonders for one's coach's rating.

i need someone to give me the business, give me some lip. give me a reason to bring the ruckus and make you find out how my ass taste.

Knowing that the last few people were going to get stuck with few choices, I think that isn't a bad group to have to choose from. SEC should be fun to compete in, and the conference prestige should be a boost for recruiting. Arkansas runs a fun scheme if you like running, Kentucky's scheme isn't bad either, and Mississippi State is close enough to Louisiana and Florida to get some of the players from both of those recruiting hotbeds.

I'll take the team I was eyeing all along - Oregon State.

Should be quite a challenge, second best in a very underwhelming state in terms of HS talent, and not a player on the regional or national scene at all. I guess I will be battling EF27 for a lot of 2 and 3 star guys out of Cali that the big boys ignore.

Plus the uniforms are hideous

According to kingnebwsu's post, we'll have a break until at least Sunday night, but I imagine we'll finish up the draft by Tuesday which is still 2 weeks before the game comes out.
