He was the dude I immediately think of when I hear "surgeon general." Don't know who the current one even is, but they should have the beard.

I looked at list of surgeon generals on wikipedia after he died and this was the only one I had ever heard of. And I knew exactly who he was even when I was a kid, he was very famous for some reason.

I think it was more about teaching of masturbation. And regardless of what Clinton thought, the Republicans in Congress were going bonkers over this, so he had to come out and say he didn't agree.
