Letter to senator contained Ricin

Letter sent to Roger Wicker tests positive for ricin - John Bresnahan - POLITICO.com

An envelope sent to an office of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) included a substance that has tested positive for Ricin, two sources say.

It was not immediately clear when the envelope was received or whether it was sent to his Washington, D.C., office or a field office

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and FBI Director Robert Mueller are briefing senators now.

More information:

Envelope tests positive for ricin at Washington mail facility - CNN.com

Luckily, it was found by the off-mail sorting that congress does.

Only speculation I saw was that he was one that supported recent gun legislation.

I dunno, tho.

He's taken alot of heat in this state because he simply voted to allow debate on gun control legislation. It was probably from some asshat who is not particularly well-informed and thought he voted "to take arrr guns away herrrrr in Mis-sippi."

From what I understand, the item was postmarked from Memphis with no return address.

Looks like there's a second letter, sent to President Obama, that also tested positive for Ricin.

I wonder if the ricin guy thinks that Obama just sits at his desk opening all the mail he gets, or if he's just trying to get in the news.

NBC, which stuck by the no arrest story in the Boston case, is reporting an arrest in the ricin case.

I just assume that all mail going to the President (and probably congress) is thoroughly screened by the secret service or capital police. Even if it wasn't the mail still would be prioritized for the office holder by some 20 year old intern and then by a secretary.

This attempt at assassinated the President is so stupid, it wouldn't surprise me if the sender had put his return address on the envelope.

Whoever did this has got to be ticked. As we were talking about earlier in the thread, it's unlikely the "recipients" would have actually gotten the letters so this was clearly to get attention. However, Boston and West have been stealing all the headlines so this thing, while, in most weeks, would have received top billing is now left to rot on page 2 or 3. "Better luck next time".

Ya, that reminds me of this guy who was also once all over the news but now can't get anyone to pay attention to him anymore.

They've arrested the guy who (apparently?) framed the first guy.

At least until they find that a third guy framed the second guy to frame the first.
