Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Maumau – 330 of 497, 4042, 32:3, 110.2 rating

Maumau was 2nd in yards to QB Wayne Kennedy from the Rattlesnakes and top in everything else. Dude has arrived! Did an extra great receiving option do this? Or was this just about time…

Rushing

RB Grogg – 344 for 1185, 3.44 ypc, 10 scores
QB Maumau – 69 for 477, 2 scores

Grogg had his best year rushing for us. He was 4th in yards, tied for 2nd in scores, good stuff!

Receiving

Skudris led my team in yards and Prior in catches and D’Arcy in scores and rookie Robinson had a solid year. Rose a down year for someone as good as him. Overall? Good! We just need better from Skudris…

Blocking

Another down year for my O Line…

Special Teams

K Di Pietro – 30 of 32, Long of 49, 52 of 53

How did a guy with 2 missed FGs and 1 missed PAT not get All Pro?

P Hills – 89 punts, 44.6 avg, 21 in 20

Another down year for Hills. Is it time to really push moving on?

RB Starks – THREE PR RET TDs

Phelan, 25 special teams tackles

Defense

We had two players with more than 100 tackles, I’m surprised that Carr didn’t have more as a SS. Maybe our coaches lined them up opposite of their actual positions, I’ve seen that happen before on rec depth charts, anyways, Dorn grabbed me a sexy 12 sacks which was 3rd in the league, the leader had 15.5 sacks. Hudson grabbed me 6 sacks, Lowther a strong 4.5, Roller just 4 sacks and we are paying too much for his low sack totals, Russell needs to do better than 4 as well, and 5 by Andersen who didn;t and was injured? Not bad! Dorn led my team with 4 FF.

Pass Coverage

We had a down-ish year in coverage with three folks with 3 picks, but not that many here and there, and just 10 pasdef leads my team. Carr needs to do better. Kristosik was horrible. He’s not a pick guy so he needs to get a bunch of pasdef and he had just 1? That’s horrible. I know he was injured with turf toe but still…. Compare him to nickelback Ferguson with his 6 pasdef and 3 picks…

The 2070 NFL FA Period #1

We are drafting 1.28. I need to get some good O line this time and hopefully this draft is thereby talented. We have a stud P that is As Scouted…we have a stud-ish OC that’s Hard to Read, although he’s not that studly…but he’s fine… I scout out mostly O line with a few LBs to see if I can find that studly Rex Madison but there is none in the draft.

I sign my RFAs and….We have 47 and 125 mill for new players

Key Players in the final year of their deal

CB Bernard – 113 mil,4 years, same cap #
RB Starks – 12 mill, 2 years, drop in 3 mill – I do this
FL D’Arcy – 83 mill, 4 years, drop in 850k, I don’t do this as Robinson is my new #2 WR
LB Lowther – 88 mill, 4 years? No thanks
OG Calderon – 50 mill, 4 years, I hold off until after the draft
SS Ferguson – 45 mill, 4 years - I hold off on my nickelback until post draft as well, but I’m leaning towards nope
FS Cotchery – 22 mill, 4 years – A nice, cheap, backup, but not right now
OG Bowers – 16 mill, 3 years, I hold off with his lower RB
RT Shalon -Not now

The big ones

WR Skudris – 241 mill, 5 years…nasty…No All Pros? Is this worth it? I could swap him over to Robinson and then let him head off and get a few more years of a stud WR. 141? I’d do it…241? Is that a typo? Nope?

SILB Hudson – Wants 117 mil over 5 years…worth it? No All Pros, and hasn’t led my team in anything. Not yet. Just 68/68 and I want to give this draft a chance to find a replacement

CB Kristosik – One pasdef last year and 1 pick? Nope! He’s not playing like he should. I won’t sign 93 mill over 4 years. What will happen is that I’ll play out his deal, he’ll give me a 4 pick 15 pasdef season, and then I’ll franchise him and raise his cost… But right now I could have a CB with 20 fewer ability getting me more picks and pasdef starting at CB.

I hold off on the big decision of this offseason – Skudris…

I have…126 mill for new players, D’Arcy’s cap hit is 22 mill and Skudris would be 44 next year so 20 mill more than D’Arcy, not that bad, and I do have the space for it, I’ll just not sign D’Arcy, but is it the right financial call? That’s the question…

I’ll hold off. What happens if a D’Arcy sized player falls to us at 1.28 or 2.28 that lets me let Skudris and him go after this year? (I grabbed D’Arcy at 2.30, as a reminder, as well as Robinson at the same spot this past draft)

Are there are UFAS I want to chase?

Richmond’s TE Chase Polasek only needs 20 mill over 3 years which is very cheap, but I have Rose starting in a lot of my 2nd TE spots and thus the need for three TEs is lesser. I won’t chase him.

I could chase DT Plumier from Richmond or Andersen, but I don’t. Cost and such.

I make a 13 mill two year offer to bring back Messantonio.

Week 2 – Plumier signs with Cleveland

Week 4 – Andersen heads to KC

Week 6 – Stephens sings with Seattle

Week 7 – Polasek heads to SF and we sign Messantonio

Week 10 – CB Chandler heads to Cleveland

I’ll see you at the drafting fun times!

The 2070 NFL Amateur Draft

Ready for the first draft of the 2070s? Let’s do it!

Picking first is New England and they grab………………. QB Xavier Perez…

Who is there at the 1.28 pick?

Who do I like?

C Randal Hentrich – Hard to Read, best OC on the board, fine run block and pass block, weak str and end, top player on the board
DE Winston Snyder – 2nd best player on the board, good looking, don’t need him
OG Troy Poock – Very similar bars and issues as Hentrich, overrated, 3rd top player on the board
OG Maxwell Schultz – Not great bars for an OG this high, overrated, 4th best player on the board

There appear to be some good TEs, but they aren’t what you are looking for.

Here let me show you Hentrich and the two OGs

Here’s the top C in the draft and he’s still on the board. He’s very uneven. If he doesn’t bust, he’ll never be good at pancakes. Do I want this guy? He’s better than my current OC but is this the best usage of my pick?

Here’s Poock, the 2nd best O Line and 3rd best player on the draft. As you can see he has roughly the same look as Hentrich but note the overrated aspect.

I could go with a nice TE.

Here’s the top OG that’s not overrated, Perini, but he’s more one-sided. Do I wanna go him?

Which O line do I do? Or…do I skip them all and go TE, or a nice RB on the board or…someone else?

Hmm….I don’t like these bars that much, I doubt they’d be worth that much…

I don’t have too many options. Hentrich doesn’t look that much better than my current OC at 59 pot, and I certainly don’t want the sieve of Perini. I’m leaning more towards Poock if I take any of them as he has better combine stuff like speed and reps.

Who else is leading me here?

There are horrible LBs on the board and that’s not where I am going. TE is duplicative and redundant. I don’t need DE Sawyer who seems pretty good as I have studs at DE and DE and DT. What about D Back? Anyone here I like….

Nope…

I have to come away with internal players on the O Line, so I have talked myself into Poock as his combines don’t back up the overrated interview, and my hope is that if he busts it’ll just be a bit.

2.28 – Who do I like here? Any stud WRs or did any LBs or OCs fall? Is Hentrich still on the board? Nope, he’s been taken…Or maybe an sweet OT I can move inside? RT Andre England? OC Brant Strickland? Strickland or England…? I grab England….he’s sorta okay, not amazing, not bad, not a run block stud, just okay.

3.28 – I am in serious man love with FS Tyrone Freestone as my future nickelback. He looks amazing in coverage, diag, hitting and ok picks but horrible at Run D. Like….really bad. Wanna see him?

Here you go! I don’t care, I really like him here!

4.28 – P Owen Ellison is still on the board and I grab him… wanna see him?

Here you go! I’d like more power but hey, any P in a storm?

5.28 – Who do I like here? Why not OG Cary Nahm?

6.28 - MLB Grant Lewis looks pretty solid in this weak LB draft.

7.28 – Hm….. Let’s go with the BAP who looks like a grower… SLB Alex Gaylor with three blue and one red scores.

Rookie Lookie #1

1.28 – OG Troy Poock, Maryland,19/70
2.28 – OT Andre England, Syracuse, 28/64
3.28 – S Tyrone Freestone, Grand Valley State, 29/50
4.28 – P Owen Ellison, Texas A&M, 54/73
5.28 – OG Cary Nahm, Notre Dame, 18/47
6.28 – MLB Grant Lewis, Tennessee, 18/63
7.28 – SLB Alex Gaylor, Oklahoma State, 22/58

There you are!

I am starting Poock and Maurello at OG and if Poock stands then I’ll let Calderon go. I am starting England at OT.

I cut OG Pete Bowers now to give him time to find a place prior to dropping

I am moving Hudson to SLB to see what he can do there.

Week 2 – At Augusta – We win 34-20

Week 3 – Baltimore – We win 10-9

Week 4 – At Houston – We win 17-7

Week 5 – Pittsburgh – We lose 14-24

We go 3-1

Extensions?

I extend these players

Skudris
Kristosik
Ferguson
Hudson

Bernard has dropped to 52/52 and I move him off my CB starting role. Ferguson is starting for him.

Do I want to extend one of my two DE studs from a few years ago? They want Dorn? 182 mill 4 years…Russell? 279 mill, 5 years…nasty

Alright let’s do it to it.

Wanna see something fun?

Here are all of the DEs in the league sorted by pot. Russell is the best at 89, and Dorn? 2nd best DE in the league, Only three Des have an 80+ pot.

Rookies?

Here’s Poock, my 1.28 pick we discussed ad nauseum after getting ready for the season.

Here’s my 2nd rounder Andre England, who, again, is very well rounded but not amazing at anything right now… Good stuff England!

On The Green Page we have…England.

Rookie Investigation

QB – Two in the 60s, one in the 50s, and that’s it.

RB – 2 at 68, 2 in 50s. Also a light draft for RBs,

FB – None at 50+

TE – 3 in mid 60s, 2 50s. There were two in the 60s at 1.28 and we could have gotten a solid TE if we had needed one…

WR – Unlike last year, this was a weak draft with 1 at 60, 2 at 51….and that‘s it!

OC – Hentrich was a 64 pot and the best OC in the draft. Strickland which we were looking at with 2.28 was 61 pot just a few behind him. 5 in the 50s.

OG – Poock was the 2nd best OG on the draft board going into the draft and was 2nd coming out. The first OG went 1.22 and has an 80 pot. 2 in the 60s and 8 in the 50s

OT – One at 93, who went all the way back at 1.16, and then 1 70 and 4 60s, 5 50s,and our England was the 4th best OT in the draft.

P – Ellison was the best P in the draft.

D Line – 1 71, 2 60s 5 50s. Light D Line for the first time in a long time.

LB – 61, 61, 60, 4 in 50s. Told you this was a light LB draft! With a 61 pot, Lewis was tied as the best LB in the draft…

DB – 80, 71, 3 60s, 10 50s.

Good stuff!

Key stats going into the final quarter…

Dorn is leading the league in 12 sacks
Maumau only has a little over 2900 yards and needs a big quarter to get to 4k
Skudris a bad year at 774 yards also needs a big game or two
Grogg is sitting at 893 yards and could make his 2nd 1k season

We are horrible at all other spots and stats right now. We’d need another player or two to come out nastily to be in the conversation of All Pro

Week 14 – Augusta – We win 30-10. MVP is Hudson, FF, Fumrec, 2 sacks. Grogg was 26 for 115 and 2 scores, Maumau was 28 of 41, 268 and 1:1, Skudris is 9 for 110 and 1 score, 2 picks by Carr, 5 KRb by Dunlap.

Maybe Carr and Hudson are pushing themselves into the conversation…

Week 15 – At Raleigh – The Eagles are just 4 wins and we are with more a spread of more than 20 at 21. Can we hold? We let them score 24! But we scored 47 so we covered! MVP is Mamau, 17 of 20, 257 and 2:0, 2 scores by Prior, Grogg a rush score, pick six by Carr who is definitely making a play for All Pro. FF by Murray rec by Russell,

Carr’s three picks in two games has moved him to the tie the league lead at 6 picks, with two games to go…

Week 16 – Houston – We barely win 17-14. I was hoping for a big blowout against the 5 win Texans as my team has been playing very well over the last few games win by double digits every week since 13. It just wasn’t to be. MVP is Maumau with 19 of 30, 266 and 1:0, Robinson 4 for 106 and 1 score, Grogg rush score, 2 picks by Phelan and ANOTHER BY CARR!!! Wow. 4 pasdef by….CARR!!! And then Mauriello with 5 KRB.

Heading into the final match?

Carr is tied at 7 picks with someone else who netted a pick in that week. Dorn is tied with 13.5 sacks as the league leader, Russell has 9.5 and needs a big game to move him from 6th to top 4 which would possible net him his first All Pro, Maumau needs 234 yards in the last week to get to 4k, and Grogg is at 1112 and made it and Skudris is sitting at a 964 and needs 36 yards to cross over.

We’ve had a big push by Carr. Will the others hold for their achievements and will Russell get enough sacks to go from 9.5 to 11 which would get him to 4th place without anyone at 4 or 5 leaping past him?

TE Bates is out for the season and I toss him on IR, with a 61 week injury…

Week 17 – NY – We have a divisional opponent here at the end of the season. The Giants are still in the playoff chase and are sitting at 8-6-1 and are at the #6 seed right now, so you know they are playing for something… We win 27-7. Sweet. MVP is Maumau with 20 of 29, 260 and 2:0, 2 scores by Robinson, 2 rush scores by Maumau as well, Grogg was held to 56 yards, Skudris just 25 and he didn’t get to 1k, Carr has another pick, 2 sacks by Russell,

We finish 15-1! We’ll look at stats and awards later….

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Maumau – 342 of 512, 4026 yards, 31:8, 103.8 rating

All great for the guy. He led the league in yards, rating, and scores.

Rushing

RB Grogg – 360 for 1164, 3.23 ypc, 13 scores
QB Maumau – 46 for 489, 7.19 ypc, 4 scores

Grogg was with his worst ypc yet and was 4th in yards and 2nd in scores. Maumau finished with just over 4.5k in yards total rush and tossing.

Receiving

Skudris led my team in everything, but couldn’t get past that mental 1k barrier. Prior was 2nd in everything from yards to scores to grabs. He led the league in yards for TEs, and was tied for 3rd in scores, not sure why he wasn’t an All Pro. Robinson a solid season and Rose was back to his ways.

Blocking?

At this point? What can I say that hasn’t been said before?

Special Teams

K Di Pietro – 30 of 34, Long of 55, 55 of 56 PAT

Another great year for my K without an All Pro to show for it!

P Ellison – 96 punts, 44.1 avg, 42 in 20

A solid in 20 % for the rookie

Starks – 1 PR RET TD
Robinson – 2 KR RET TD, 1 Super Bowl KR RET TD

Russell led my team with 28 special teams tackles. I wish my coaches would stop doing that!

Defensive

Ingram led my team in tackles and grabbed me 5 sacks as well in his All Pro season. Hudson at SLB was rocking 7 sacks which is pretty solid. You can see Dorn with his 13.5 sacks and Russell his 11.5, both had great years on my Line. Roller added 5.5 sacks, which wasn’t bad at all. We had a great sack year!

My secondary was a one man show with Carr dominating with 8 picks, which… led the league, yup. This was a crazy lack of respect for the man… I also got tons of pasdef this time for my team. Phelan grabbed 2 picks and led my team in pasdef, Carr was right behind with 15 pasdef, you can see Ingram’s 2 picks and 13 pasdef which was big for his All Pro campaign and don’t sleep on the 14 pasdef for Hudson who was pickless.

Off. Player of the Year – RB Rodolfo Grogg – Won Super Bowl MVP honors in Greenville’s first Super Bowl Victory? Great job! Finished pertinent and with a solid season? Great-er job!

Def. Player of the Year – S Colin Carr – How could he not net All Pro? I have no idea…

Special Teams Player of the Year – KR/WR Manuel Robinson – 2 KR RET TDs, during the regular year and one in the Super Bowl? Good stuff!

Rookie of the Year – OG Tony Poock – He was fine in his 1st year. 3rd in KRB, just 4 sacks allowed, the fewest among my starters. Poock didn’t suck!

Heart Award – DE Xavier Russell - Led my team in special teams tackles? Good stuff Russell!

The 2071 NFL FA Period #1

We are obviously drafting 32nd, and I still need to come away with a stud SLB, and a great OC and others on the O line, so I spend some time hoping we have a stronger LB and OL draft this year than last. There is an okay OC, As Scouted, at the top and a few OGs and LBs I interview. We’ll see who’s there at 1.32.

I sign my RFAs and then I have…46 players leaving me with 140 mill before the draft and 122 after.

This is abig class…

Players Of Note in the Final Year of Their Deal

RB Starks – Wants 10 mill for a 2 year deal. I make it and sign him another year

QB Maumau – Wants 317 mill over 5 years, this increases his cap hit this year by 14 mill… I do so.

TE Prior – Wants 89 mill, 4 years, this is a drop of 6 mill this year. He’s 29 so I’ll hold off until later to see if he drops or we draft a replacement.

RB Grogg – Wants 133 mill over 4 years, increase of cap hit this year by 4 mill. I do so.

FB Rose – Wants 36 mill over 4 years, increase of cap hit of 4.1 mill this year. I hold off until post draft.

OG Mauriello – Wants 38 mill, 3 years - I’ll hold off until after the draft

OT Bergendahl – Wants 73 mill for four years. I’ll also holdoff until post draft

Now the two big questions.

DE Dorn – Wants 245 mill and 5 years. I sign him, dude has two All Pros for me already.

DE Russell – Wants 286 mill, 5 years, best DE in the league and the best player on my team…I’ll let him play this season and franchise him next if he plays well enough. 12 sacks this year was great, but with no All Pros, we need his play to match his talent. I might sign him in post-camp if I’m feeling frisky.

I extend WR Cathey for a year as well as my LS and some backups that are not costly like SLB Lowe.

I have 73 mill for new players coming off those big deals like Dorn and Maumau and Grogg.

One way for me to make some money back is to cut NT Roller who would save me 22 mill against the cap, he’s an 8th year veteran who dropped to 64/64 last year. If I can find a great NT in the draft, I’ll grab him and let Roller go and then use that money for Russell. If I do find that great NT? I’ll be more comfortable with Roller being let go and upping Russell this year.

Do I want to make offers to any of my 7 UFAs? Nope!

Anyone else I want to chase? Nope!

Week 4 – D’Arcy is heading back to Richmond, Calderon to New Orleans

Week 8 – Bernard is joining Calderon in NO.

Week 9 – Lowther to Atlanta

Drafting Fun Times??????????????????????????????????

COMMENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2071 NFL Draft

Hello folks, and let’s get our draft on. Picking 1.1 is…Las Vegas, and they snag… (the top player in the draft is a stud 7.3 rated RB, I guess they grab him) and..they grab RB Orlando Ramsey. Called it!

See you in 31!

1.32 arrives.

Who do I like here

WLB Gavin Uribe – 2nd best OLB in the draft going in, the best player on the board, great bars, Hard to Read.

C Mack Limon – As Scouted, 2nd best player on the board, good at everything not named endurance.

We came into this draft with 5 OGs ranked 6.3 or higher and…all of them are off the board…

WILB Edward Thao – The best ILB in the draft, and I thought he’d be gone so I didn’t waste an interview on him…

Forget the others, none have these qualities….of these three, who do I like the most?

Here’s Uribe. He’s studly if he stands. Now he’s just Hard to Read so he’s random, but as you can see he’s good everywhere. If I grabbed him and he held I’d swap him to SLB and move Hudson back to WLB as he’s more well rounded. Uribe? Could be a great stud. Could he be my Rex Madison? Or would he just be an okay Arellano? Or a bust like Burkley and Troutman? Hard to Read makes Uribe a gamble.

Let’s stay with LBs and look that Thao. Now he’s more of a gamble than Uribe because of his un interviewed nature. He’s not the best in coverage I’ve ever seen, but he’d be fine! Thao could be a great force of LB’ing nature!

Here’s my top OL option with Limon. As you can see, this As Scouted force of nature can do everything save for being out there on the pitch. He’s pretty good though, and I’ve been looking for a studly C for a long time…have I finally gotten it here with Limon?

Okay….who would you take? Let me think about it…

Alright… let me think about it with my words…

I remove Thao from my list. No interview, not great at coverage

That’s leave Uribe and Limon…

Who is starting for me at OC right now? 62/62 Chester Dunlap, with 77 run block, 64 pass block,59 str, and 14 endurance. That’s not that bad actually, despite the overall difference, from Limon.

How about LB? As of right now, my starters are Hudson at 70/70, Ingram at 67/67, Fowler at 56/65 and… Lowe at 55/55. That’s a bigger need at LB than at OC in a real way as 55/55 Lowe is much worse that 62/62 Dunlap who has a 77 run block, right around what Dunlap would have without a bust…

But the gamble? And I’ve been looking for a great OC for a while and here one is?

I’ve had more luck with 1st round O Line of any positions (no busts) versus LBs alone (3 busts, Troutman the worst). But is the predictive of this one…

Who do I do?

I still don’t know…

I’ll come back in a few hours after I’ve watched WW84 and see if I am any closer to a decision…

I came back here after waiting for my Uber to take me to the theater and made my decision and finished the draft quickly.

Who am I taking…

My decision is being made for me. I have two choices at first, but one respectively…

My defense is 3-4. Forget stud lineman DE like Russell or Dorn or NT Roller. Forget great CBs like Kristosik and great S like Carr and Pheland. My defense is all about one key thing. LBs. I need them. And a stud SLB will unlock my defense and turn it up to 11. No matter what else I am trying to do or who to be, at the end of the day? I am a 3-4 defense….

So I go with the gamble and take Uribe. Because I am 15-1 off a Super Bowl win, and I need defensive momentum to continue this drive…

I’ll see you in 32

2.32 – Alright who fell? OG Marcos Currie? OG Dan Dubreuil? I don’t need another okay OG, I need studs. LT Samuel Cook? WR Jeremy Blanchard? I go Blanchard. I need a 3rd WR for Robinson and Skudris. Blanchard is a looker, a shower. Will he hold up

3.32 – QB Allen Waits? The 2nd best OC in the draft is Mark Shade and still on the board, although he’s well rounded, not studly in some things except for strength. What about DT Sebastian Spencer who fills a need to replace Roller if he doesn’t bust? I go Spencer.

He fell hard

Here he is…look at the quality!

4.32 – WLB Kelly Lash? I grab him. He looks like a grower.

5.32 - OT DeAndre Welles? I take him. He also looks like a grower

6.32 – CB Deon Wilcox? We had two dbacks leave us in FA, so I need more. I grab him.

7.32 – MLB Brent Simmons? He’s a shower. Will he fade?

Rookie Lookie #1

1.32 – WLB Gavin Uribe, UCLA, 40/82
2.32 – WR Jeremy Blanchard, Washington State, 38/65
3.32 – DT Sebastian Spencer, Mississippi, 41/92
4.32 – WLB Kelly Lash, WVU BABY!!, 31/50
5.32 – OT DeAndre Welles, Alabama, 10/52
6.32 – CB Deon Wilcox, Massachusetts, 30/42
7.32 – MLB Brent Simmons, Boston College, 24/59

There you are! If Spencer holds? Holy crap!

The NFL 2071 FA Period #2

After the draft, we only have…53 on my roster. I chase these rookies

TE Kai Capurro
OG Carlton Browning
OT Bruce Hatcher
DE Alfred Edwards
WLB Leo Lyons
CB Ken Wooden

To extend Robinson is only 78 mill over 4 years, for a guy in his 70s? I’ll hold off until post preseason…but that’s not bad.

Week 1 – 1 sings

Week 2 – 3 more join, Cotchery heads to Raleigh

Week 3 – The last 2 join

UFAs

TE Kai Capurro, 20/45
OG Carlton Browning, 16/51
OT Bruce Hatcher, 5/45
DE Alfred Edwards, 22/54
WLB Leo Lyons, 24/52
CB Ken Wooden, 23/45

There we go.

Ready for some Camping Fun Times?

Rookie Lookie #2

1.32 – WLB Gavin Uribe, UCLA, 40/82; 47/82
2.32 – WR Jeremy Blanchard, Washington State, 38/65; 42/66
3.32 – DT Sebastian Spencer, Mississippi, 41/92; 50/92
4.32 – WLB Kelly Lash, WVU BABY!!, 31/50; 35/51
5.32 – OT DeAndre Welles, Alabama, 10/52; 15/52
6.32 – CB Deon Wilcox, Massachusetts, 30/42; 31/44
7.32 – MLB Brent Simmons, Boston College, 24/59; 28/58

Not bad! Glad Uribe, Spencer, and Blanchard held.

UFAs

TE Kai Capurro, 20/45; 24/45
OG Carlton Browning, 16/51; 19/49
OT Bruce Hatcher, 5/45; 8/41
DE Alfred Edwards, 22/54; 27/54
WLB Leo Lyons, 24/52; 28/51
CB Ken Wooden, 23/45; 27/45

I cut Roller to give him time to find another home without dropping. Even if Spencer drops, he’ll still likely be my starter for a while.

I now have 58 under contract – no cuts needed…

The 2071 NFL Preseason

I hand out 12 deactives and massage my depth chart. I start Spencer, Blanchard as my 3rd WR, and Uribe.

Week 2 – At Portland – We shut them out 17-0

Week 3 – New England – We win 21-17

Week 4 – LA Chargers – We lose 17-16

Week 5 – At Miami – We win 26-21

We are 3-1 in preseason

Rookie Lookie #3

Please don’t bust Uribe, I’ve had that happen too much…

1.32 – WLB Gavin Uribe, UCLA, 40/82; 47/82; 48/78
2.32 – WR Jeremy Blanchard, Washington State, 38/65; 42/66; 43/63
3.32 – DT Sebastian Spencer, Mississippi, 41/92; 50/92; 51/88
4.32 – WLB Kelly Lash, WVU BABY!!, 31/50; 35/51; 39/55
5.32 – OT DeAndre Welles, Alabama, 10/52; 15/52; 14/51
6.32 – CB Deon Wilcox, Massachusetts, 30/42; 31/44; 34/50
7.32 – MLB Brent Simmons, Boston College, 24/59; 28/58; 28/53

Well he busted a bit, but 4 off of 82 isn’t that bad. Blanchard busted 2 from his original amount, not bad. Spencer also busted 4, but off a 92? Nasty! Simmons also busted and only Lash and Wilcox grew.

UFAs

TE Kai Capurro, 20/45; 24/45; 24/43
OG Carlton Browning, 16/51; 19/49; 18/44
OT Bruce Hatcher, 5/45; 8/41; 8/37
DE Alfred Edwards, 22/54; 27/54; 27/52
WLB Leo Lyons, 24/52; 28/51; 26/46
CB Ken Wooden, 23/45; 27/45; 25/40

They all busted!

I cut these people

OT Hatcher
CB Bobby Perkins
OG Carlton Browning
SLB Jaylen Goel
MLB Richie Blair

Extensions

I extend these people

OG Mauriello
FB Rose
TE Prior
DE Russell

I have… 57 mill for new people and…any 2 years I want to sign? I extend Carr. I won’t resign Robinson, I’ll let him got and move Blanchard into his role in two years.

Rookies?

Here is my SLB. He’s not as studly as a Madison…but will he play as well as my All Pros often do here at the SLB spot? As you can see…he’s still very well rounded with no weaknesses. This gamble may have paid off...but we’ll see!

Here’s my 2.32 pick and Blanchard is less consistent. As you can see, he’s a solid player of youth and power. He’s weak at getting downfield and courage but great at the big plays and adjustments. Good stuff Blanchard!

Here is my new DT! He’ll start for me with Dorn and Russell and if he can make a mark too? Dudes awesome. But…will he play up to this ability? We’ll find out together!

On the Green Page we have Spencer at #2 and that’s it.

Rookie Investigation

QB – Allen Waits, whom we were looking at in the 3rd round went 4.10 and was 58 pot, and the only one with a 50+ in the draft. Hm…. Had I know he was going to be that good….nah I still wouldn’t have dumped Spencer…

RB – One 73, one 68, 5 in 50s

FB – 2 50s

TE – 1 60, 1 50. Light!

OC – Limon was the best at 67, barely better than our OC (although Dunlap dropped to 59/59 after camp). The C that was free at 3.32 was 2nd best with 66 pot. We had 2 50s – this was a weak draft for them.

OG -With a 92 pot, the top G was also the top rookie. 80, 75, 6 60s, 2 50s, for a top heavy class.

OT – 89, 2 70s, 1 60, 6 50s – Not bad!

D Line – Spencer was the best DT, the best D Line and the 3rd best player overall regardless of position! We had 2 70s, 3 60s and 7 50s.

LB – At 78 pot, Uribe was tied for the best LB in the draft with two others. We had a 4th LB with 70+ pot, and then 7 60s and 5 50s. This was deep and we got a dude.

DB – 5 60s, 14 50s. Wow…bottom heavy much?

Good stuff!

The 2071 NFL Regular Season

I think we’ll drop a win a go to 14-2 this season. Can we win two in a row? That almost never happens if you look at our history! Can we break that trend this year? Wanna find out how good Spencer and Uribe might wind up being? I do!

I wanna show you the favored again because, as you can see, we are a Juggernaut Now

Week 1 – At Raleigh, Favored by 16 – We begin the season with an away match up in the division. Ready? Can We Cover? We cover and thump them 38-10! Maumau, MVP, 13 of 19 (pulled in the 4th quarter of the blowout), 198, 4:0, Robinson 3 scores, Skudris 1, Grogg 30 for 120, 1 score, 2 sacks by Dorn. That’s a big win to start the season!

Week 2 – Miami, Favored by 18 – We only win by 16. Sad. 30-14. Grogg, MVP, 31 for 170, 2 scores, ush score by Maumau who was 14 of 22, 133 and 1:0, score by Skudris, FF and rec by Kristosik and Uribe,

Week 3 – New Orleans, Favored by 4 – Not a big favor… We win a big scoring game and cover 44-34. Maumau, MVP, 24 of 34, 417, 5:0, Prior 7 for 144 and 1 score; Skudris 6 for 115 and 2 scores, scores by Rose and rookie Blanchard’s first! Grogg added 134 yards on 18 scrambles, 3 pasdef by Ingram,

Week 4 – BYE

Week 5 – Arizona, Favored by 11 – We cover…a lot…we smash them 34-3! Mvp? Maumau, 20 of 24, 239, 3:0, scores by Prior, Robinson and Skudris, FF by Ingram and Hudson, rec by Ingram, 3 sacks by Dorn

We are 4-0 and have thumped three wins…but…where is my pass coverage? We have no picks by anyone! Crazy…I know…

Had my Grogg come back after a really bad season last year?

That’s gets you caught up with already played stuff.

Week 14 – At New England, Favored by 7 – We lose again 24-35. Maumau 28 of 41, 355 3:2, Robison 2 scores, Blanchard 1, nothing else noteworthy

Week 15 – NY, Favored by 9 – We get back to our thumping ways with a 31-6 victory. Maumau, 26 of 33, MVP, 356 and 3:0, Prior, Skudris and Grogg with scores and out RB was 27 for 114 and 1 score, FF bY Uribe,

Week 16 – At NY Jets, Favored by 3 – Just 3? We really put that prediction to shame with a 33-10 smash victory. MVP is Maumau with 20 of 31, 313 and 3:0, 2 scores by Skudris, 1 by Prior, Grogg is 30 for 144 and 1 score, FF bY Uribe, rec by CB Hardy, 4 sacks by Dorn! 4 KRB by Poock.

NT Spencer is out for a few weeks with a pulled calf muscle. I massage my roster but don’t put him on IR as he may be back late in the playoffs. DT Atkins will start for him.

Grogg would need a BIG game to get to 2k. Like 373 rush yards. But hey, anything is possible in this game…

Week 17 – At 10-5 DC, Favored by 5 – We win barely, and don;t cover, 23-20. MVP? Dorn with 3 sacks. Maumau 23 of 37, 327, Starks PR RET TD for our only TD on the game, Di Pietro was 5/6, pick by Kristosik, 4 KRB by England.

We finish 14-2, as predicted, and… we have the top seed in the NFC and DC is the 5th seed.

League Awards

League MVP – QB Carson Maumau
Off. Player of the Year – QB Carson Maumau

All Pro 1st Team

QB Carson Maumau
RB Rodolfo Grogg
FB Lester Rose
DE Rondell Dorn

All-Pro 2nd Team

WR Demetrius Skudris
DE Xavier Russell

This is Grogg’s first award, as well as Russell’s. Skudris is back! I’m surprised Dorn wasn’t Def. Player of the Year… You feel like a 14-2 team would normally have more than 6 All Pros, maybe one or two more. But what do I know?

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Maumau – 350 of 495, 4265 yards, 38:2, 120.8

I think that’s the best season I’ve ever had by a QB! And we’ve had four HOFs Qbs that all won League MVPs. I can’t recall having that many yards, 38:2 is nasty in both, and 120.8 rating? I can’t recall any of my QBs having a season as good as this one. Now if he can net 40 TDs. He’d hit a plateau that none of my players this year have…

Rushing

RB Grogg – 420 for 1700, 4.05 ypc, 11 scores
QB Maumau – 58 for 423, 4 scores

Grogg lead the league in yards by hundreds and scores by 1. Nasty! Maumau was with 4700ish yards, which is pretty good.

Receiving

Skudris was fine and led my team in yards, grabs, and scores. Blanchard came in 2nd for grabs, 5th in yards, and 4 scores. Prior, Grogg, Skudris and Robinson and Blanchard all had more than 650 yards on the season and other than #1 Skudris, you can see a very even ball distribution. Grogg’s 675 yards gave him 2300+ total yards from scrimmage. Good stuff!

Blocking

Here’s how my O Line did. Mauriello and then Poock led my team in KRB with England right behind and Dunlap as well. We still need to get these numbers and play up… Look at how good Rose was. He had 3 pancakes, tied for combining all five of my starters, and 0 sacks allowed and 12 KRB of 27 KRO. Good stuff FB!

Special Teams

K Di Pietro – 32 of 39, Long of 49, 56 of 59 Pat

Way too many misses this year!

P Ellison – 87 punts, 44.7 avg, 31 in 20

Not great numbers…

RB Starks – 2 PR RET TD
WR Robinson – 2 KR RET TD

Four scores! Nasty!

Phelan led my team with 22 special teams tackles

Defensive

Ingram led my team in tackles but couldn’t get over 100. In his debut season, Uribe was a fine 5 sacks, and 73 tackles. Dorn’s 18 sacks led the league by 4.5! Dorn was a gift from the football gods. Russell another double digit sack season and his first All Pro, he was 3rd in Des in sacks and 5th overall. Moving Hudson back to his natural WLB gave me 8 sacks and that led my LB Corps. Uribe led my team in 4 FF.

Pass Coverage

Now for the embarrassment of my team. This was a horrible year for non-Fergusons. Phelans was okay with 14 pasdef and 2 picks, but we need to be better here!

Team Awards

Off. Player of the Year – QB Carson Maumau – He just had a monster year! He set a record for the best QB Rating in a season!

Def. Player of the Year – DE Xavier Russell – Dude finally got his overdue All Pro! Great stuff Russell!

Special Teams Player of the Year – RB Sammie Starks/WR Manual Robinson – As both of these offensive weapons gave me two RET TDs, I am giving them both the award!

Rookie of the Year – SLB Gavin Uribe – 3rd in tackles, 5 sacks and 10 pasdef. Great stuff rookie! Now we need you to step it up…

Heart Award – TE Newton Lindsay – My 3rd TE only starts in one formation as all of my other places FB Rose starts…but he grabbed 2 scores and was a great red threat for Maumau. Good stuff!

I end the season and score a 48

The 2072 NFL Offseason

Hall of Fame

No Abe’s Boys

Retirements of Note

Grizzlies

My AC retired

Rattlesnakes

QB Wayne Kennedy – Stud. This should end the Richmond dynasty. 5 Rings, 2 time league MVP, loads of other awards. He was my reboot QB after my first one busted in year 3 of the Snakes.

WR Heath Easton – Stud. 6 Rings, 4 All Pros.

Other Abe’s Boys

DE Les Greene. Stud. 5.32 pick. 3 Rings, 2 All Pros

NT Roller – Stud with Grizzlies and Snakes. 3.30 pick. 4 Rings, 1 All Pro

DT Andersen – Stud, 6.31 pick, 3 Rings, 1 All Pro, played with both of my most recent franchises.

Staff Draft

We pick 28th. We don’t get that money with our 37k attendance in a 61k stadium.

The best AC on the board by the time we pick only has a 52 suitability - Gustavo Edmond, 44, likes O Line.

We have 5 UFAs but I don’t franchise any

See you in FA!

The 2072 NFL FA Period #2

We draft 1.28. I interview O line and DB. There are two great OCs on the draft that I like.

I sign my RFAs save for Holz and Hardy. And Wooden who sucks.

I have 45 with 13 open for new players.

These are the key players in the last year of their deal

RB Starks – Won’t resign him as he dropped to 44/44

Ditto Cathey and SLB Lowe and others

C Dunlap – Wants 66 mil over 4 years. Nope.

S Phelan – Wants 100 mill over 5 years, drops his cap hit by 4 mill. I do it.

WR Robinson – Wants 176 mill over 5 years. Nope, too expensive…

S Carr – Wants 80 mil for 4 years, increase of cap hit by 10 mill. I do so

LB Fowler – Dropped to 64/64, wants 11 mill for 2 years. Done

LB Ingram – Dropped to 62/62. Wants 121 mill over 4 years. Nope, too pricey.

I finish those with 4 mill left for new players

Week 2 – Bergendahl signs with NY Giants. He signed for more than 100 mill which I couldn’t come close to matching.

Week 3 – Florez heads to New England.

I’ll see you at the draft!!!
