The 2091 NFL Amateur Draft

Picking 1st is Richmond and there is a stud 7.4 rated CB on the board named Levi Fredrickson. I think they’ll take. They do so! Called it! I’ll see you!

1.24 –

Who do I like at the 24th pick in the round?

CB Vince Kovarik – As scouted. Looks good
WR J.T. Banks – Hard to read. Looks good
LT Lester Youngers – Very underrated, top T on the board

Hmmm

I really like the first two. Let’s check them out!

Here’s the top CB on the board! I like him a lot. A lot. Good picks!

Here’s the top WR on the board and he has good bars as well. I need WR more than CB but Hard to Read is worse than As Scouted.

What do I do?

i did it agian. Auto draft and save. Blast it! The UI of this game can be annoying at times.

This time no one retires. I sign a new SC as this one was hired elsewhere, I do not chase Robinson who wants more than 100 mill over 3 years, he signs with New England,

I’m not feeling either one… Trout is too weak.

How about WR Bert Schulz? He has better bars but is the 4th WR on the board. OG Paul White is the 2nd best OG but better bars. LT Aidan Sprague? 3rd best OT on the board with better bars. Hmmm…

I do Schultz. He has better red bars and seems like a grower. Trout may be a trap.

2.24 - LG Giovanni Clifton? I do it!

3.24 – DE Alec Montgomery? SS Gus Stewart? I do Stewart if he is still available. He just went so I like DB here and I grab CB Francisco Schneider.

4.24 – WILB Patrick Cote – Top LB on the board.

5.24 – OG Harrison Cordie? This is Clifton Bust Insurance.

6.24 – DE Andres Andrew? Looks like a grower.

Here’s my new starting OG Clifton! As you can see he is very very very green. Pretty well rounded for anything save endurance. Welcome to the club Clifton!

Roster check –

As you can see, right now I only have 5 studs or future studs. I define a stud as a player with a pot 70 or more. Those are QB Moya, C Jeffries, DT Yaussy, SLB Montgomery and RT Laurain. For example, take DT. How many DTs have a 70+ pot in the league right now? 13. Yaussy is the 13th best DT with a 71 pot. At SLB? There are 5 OLBS with a 70+ and Montgomery is the best one with a 78. As you can see, there are 14 OTs with a 70+ pot and Laurain at 71 is 13th. At C, there are just 7 with a 70+ and Jeffries is the 3rd best.

Note that P Bennett dropped back down to 62/62 and is no longer a stud. 9 Ps have a 70+.

Talent break down. In the league there are future players that aren’t Ks

90+ 1
80+ 11 – we have one

Compare stud count to our two rivals

Jacksonville Jaguars – 6 – their QB is just 48/48. They’d won a ton of Bowls and gone to 6 Super Bowls in a row.

New York Giants – Last year’s bowl winner, won the NFC East from us going 14-2 and swept us. Thei QB is like ours and is 71/71 and ours is 70/70, they have… 8 studs and two in the 80s.

Note that I have 13 players with a 60 pot somewhere. What about my rivals at the 60s? Jaguars? 9. Giants? 10. So we are a bit better at the 60s, but I’d rather be better at studs.

The 2091 NFL Regular Season

We were 13-3 last year but had a wild card as the Bowl Winning Giants swept us and went 14-2. We lost on the road. I think we’ll be back to normal winning the NFC East this year and looking good! Ready? Let’s go my friends, let’s go!

Week 1 – At NYG – We open at our silver bullet. They swept us last year, went 14-2, and won the Super Bowl. And we open with them away. Can we beat them on the road? Can we even keep it close? Will Moya show up? Let’s find out! We lose 21-25. Curry, 2 rush scores, Moya 18 of 27, 153 0:0, pick six by Simonsen, pick by McIntyre

Week 2 – Buffalo – We win 31-24 – MVp is RB Curry with 21 for 153 and THREE Tds. Nice! Moya is 21 of 35, 204 and 0:2. Not nice. He’s just always being carried by others on the team like a guy who’s 50/50. Picks by rookie Schneider, Byrnes and McIntyre. 2 FF by Yaussy, 1 rec by DE Samuels, 2 sacks by Dunn, 3 pasdef bY Schneider,

Week 3 – At Arizona – We win 38-31. MVP is Moya, 14 of 17, 215 and 2:0 pulled in the 4th quarter for Bratsch who was 62 and 0:2 letting them back into the game, scores by Shelton and McCarthy, rush scores by Curry who was 28 for 110 and Bratsch. 2 picks by Simonsen,FF by Simonsen, Fum REC TD by Schneider, 3 pasdef by Simonsen, 4 KRB by Witcher. Another victory on the back of a return.

Where is my vaunted D?

Week 4 – Richmond – We win 30-20. MVP is S Byrnes with 2 picks. Moya was 17 of 28, 258 and 1:1, score by McCarthy, rookie Schultz was 6 for 101 his first 100+ yard game, Curry 27 for 109 and 1 score, rush score by Moya, 2 sacks by Dunn, 4 KRB by Witcher and Jeffries.

We are 3-1. No dominate wins thus far this year either.

Week 5 – Detroit – We win 24-8. MVP is Montgomery with 2 sacks and 1 pick. Good stuff! Curry is 27 of 96 and 1 score, Moya is 27 of 36 for 278 and 2:1 scores by TE Sheltonx2, FF by Samuels rec by Yaussy, 2 sacks by Samuels, 4 KRB by Witcher. Thanks Defense!

All of my injuries are up and we are injury free! That means bad stuff is about to happen!

Week 6 – At 5-1 Green Bay – Rough game! We win 42-9. Our first big win of the season. MVP? Montgomery again with FF and 2 sacks. Curry is rush score and Moya is 15 of 22, 154 and 2:0 and was pulled in the 4th for a guy who went 1:2. Scores by WR Bernardx2 and Cheshier. QB Norman Moya
RB Curtis Curry
TE Jessie Shelton
DE Stan Dunn
SLB Malik Montgomery

All Pro 2nd Team

WR Heath McCarthy
OG Bryson Witcher
OT Renaldo Laurain
K Britt Ramirez

Wow. Moya has arrived! This is his 2nd Super Bowl victory! This is the first All Pro for Shelton, Dunn, Montgomery, McCarthy, Samuels. Big year! This is the 3rd All Pro for Ramirez, the 4th for Witcher, the 2nd for Laurain, 3rd for Curry, and 2nd for Moya. Great year team! We didn’t dominate the score board as much as in the past, but we had a great year with a massive TEN All Pros!

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Moya – 332 of 504, 4076 yards, 28:11, 100.1 rating

Moya led the league in rating, yards, %, and scores. Wow. Still too many picks but that’s just going to be our Moya!

Rushing

RB Curry – 376 for 1401, 3.73 ypc, 12 scores

We had a down year in yp[]c but Curry was 2nd in yards by 13 and top in scores by 2. Good stuff Curry!

Receiving

McCarthy was 3rd in yards for the league and led my team with 1131, and his low TDs didn’t keep him from netting a All pro. Shelton was awesome in his 2nd year for my club with 962 yards and 12 scores. He led all TEs in yards and scores. I can’t ever remember a year where my TE had double digit scores in this dynasty, so good stuff sophomore! Rookie Schultz was with 786 yards and 3 scores and wasn’t bad as my #2 WR. Curry was 4th with 448 yards a few less than last year but more than 1.8k total yf scrimmage.

Blocking

Not the best year for my blocking. It’s rare than an OT leads your team in KRB so good job Laurain! Jeffries was 2nd with 31 and the rest were under 30. Witcher was lower block % than you’d like for a 100+ KRB season, but he still got All Pro so why am I complaining?

Special Teams

K Ramirez – 38 of 43, Long of 50, 51 of 51 PAT

He missed more FGS this year than last but hey. I’m just happy dude got another All Pro as he is that good!

P Bennett – 84 for 43.4 avg, long of 59

I may need to move on from Bennett.

3 KR RET TDs for McIntyre the most in the league

Hanks – 22 special teams tackles

Defensive

I thought Malik Montgomery was on the route to Def. Player of the Year with three MVPs during the season. Dude had 9.5 sacks and led my team in tackles. Dunn netted me a crazy 15 sacks which…was 2nd most in the league. Samuels’ 14 was 3rd most in the league so great years ya’ll! Montgomery led all LBs with 9.5 sacks.

Pass Coverage

How does a 9 pick Byrnes or a 7 pick Simonsen not make All Pro? Byrnes had 12 pasdef, 2 pick sixes. He led the league in picks. Simonsen was 3rd in picks with 7 and netted me 9 pasdef. This was a great year for my pass coverage but no awards to speak for it. Sad. The 2nd All Pro at FS was with TWO picks…

I scout out some rookies. I interview a bunch of O Line, LB and DB

I want to sign my RFAs and I cannot do so as I have just 250k in cash under the cap with Moya’s advanced contract counting 87 mill against my 708 mill cap.

Maybe I can find cap relief here

Vets in Last Year of Deal

WR Wilkerson – 13 years, 41/41 – nope – cutting him frees up 8.5 mill

K Ramirez – Wants 21 mill over 2 years, this reduces cap hit by 3 mill. I do so

I sign my LS

RG Witcher – Wants 40 mill over 2 years, cap rise of 5 mill. Nope. He’s 11th year and 55/55

NT Field – 9th year. I cut him and free up 6.8 mill

I sign RFA MLB Harman and C Sanderson and RB Howard

SLB Montgomery – Wants 263 mill over 4 years, this drops his cap hit by 23 mil. I do so

DE Dunn – Wants 139 mill over 4 years, cap drop of 7 mill. I do so

WILB Kau – Wants 125 mill over 4 years, rise in cap of 17 mill. Nope

FS Cook -Wants 74 mill over 3 years, same cap hit. I hold off for now

TE Gassman - Wants 21 mill for 3 years, yes

LT Bunyan – Dropped to 48/48. Wants 92 mill over 4 years. Nope

Rookies in Final year of Deal

CB Atkins – 59/59 – Wants 97 mill for 4 years…rise in cap of 15 mill. I hold off

See you at the draft!

The 2092 NFL Amateur Draft

Picking first is SF and I like DE Trey Lebron the best player in the draft for the 49ers. And they grab…QB Giovanni Brewer. Lebron is taken… 1.9 by the Boise Falcons. Wow that was a fall. Good value there for a 7.3 rated player. See you at the 1.32 spot!

Who do I like here?

LT Richie McGillicuddy – As Scouted. Great run blocking. Top OT on the board.
SLB Douglas Blakely – Overrated. Top LB on the board, top player on the board as well.
OG Dwayne Shumaker – hard to read – top OG on the board
FS Tom Velevis - Top DB on the board, poor picks, good bars elsewhere no interview. I didn’t expect the #2 S to be on the board at #32.
WILB Devonte Favre – Very overrated
S Blake Fierro – Overrated, better picks that Velevis, 3rd best S in the draft and 2nd on the board.
Cb Vince Duran – Overrated
WILB Artie Weinmeister – Overrated

As you can see, 7 players we interviewed are still on the board so we predicted this nicely. However, 5 are overrated of some sort and just 1 is as scouted.

Here is the choice I am leaning for

Here’s the top OT on the board. LT’s are rare and even if he busts a bit he could be a great run blocker. But he’s one sided, so…do you go with him? Or head elsewhere?

What do you do?

I need LT too much to replace Bunyan. I draft him!

2.31 – RG Artie Lynn? He’s good at run and pass block but weak at STR.

3.31 – RG Jose Freysinger? SLB Xavier Spencer. I do Spencer.

4.31 – K Johnny Ballard? He’s a stud.

5.31 – DT Preston Wynn? I like Wynn.

6.31 - WR Jerald Brinkley? FS Kerry Oleary? I like Brinkley.

7.31 – DE Sean Gonzalez?

Rookie Lookie #1

1.31 – LT Richie McGillicuddy, Oregon State, 14/72
2.31 – OG Artie Lynn, Rutgers, 32/55
3.31 – SLB Xavier Spencer, Brigham Young, 36/63
4.31 – K Johnny Ballard, Auburn, 53/84
5.31 – DT Preston Wynn, Liberty, 45/62
6.31 - WR Jerald Brinkley, Missouri, 29/56
7.31 – DE Sean Gonzalez, Penn State, 28/53

There you go! All over 50! For now…

Is Richie McGillicuddy going to hold and be a stud at LT? Nasty if he does!

2.31 – OG Artie Lynn, Rutgers, 32/55, 40/58, 44/73

Drop by my LT. Sad no stud at LT. 68 ain’t bad though. Lynn boomed nicely and is a stud! I move Lynn to start for Witcher. Spencer was starting as my WILB but he bombed massively!! I remove him from my WILB and we’ll start Harmon. Slight bust by Harmon. I cut K Ramirez with our love! Wynn boomed massively! I grabbed him as a low 60s DT that fell hard and he actually grew! Two back to back 60s WR in drafts. Again Brinkley was drafted as a looker in the mid 50s that was great value in the 6th round but he grew! Someone had to drop, right Gonzalez?

UFAs

CB Dennis Mendoza, 18/43, 20/36, 20/25

Kau is still holding out

I cut…WR Kaden Dowell

Extensions

I extend these players

Cook – 3 years, 61 mill

I do not extend Kau, Bunyan, Wilkerson, McIntyre, Witcher,

Rookies 2 years left?

I moved Byrnes to CB and he has a 61/61 rating. He wants…178 mill for 5 years. I hold off.

DE Samuels – 1 All Pro in 2 years. He wants 216 mill over 5 years. I hold off as well.

If they do really well next year then I’ll look to resign one or both later.

Actually…I have a thought. NT Yaussy has dropped to 67/67. I just walked into a 72/72 guy. Yaussy has never had more than 6.5 sacks in a year and no All Pros. I cut Yaussy and save myself 18 mill. I move my rookie to start. I sign rookie UFA Korey Singleton DT.

Rookies

Let’s skip #1 and do my two studs

Here’s my OG Lynn and as you can see he’s great at everything other than strength so he is weak with the pancake making. Welcome to the club!

Here’s my 5.31 stud boom Wynn and he is looking pretty good right? Right! I do like him a lot and I hope that we can get great consistency from him moving forward.

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Moya – 338 of 511, 3713, 32:9, 101.0

Top rating and TDs in the league but 7th in yards. A bit of a step back.

Rushing

RB Curry – 12 starts, 209 for 749, 3.58 ypc, 4 scores

A horrible year for Curry.

Receiving

A down year by a few hundred yards with Moya will show up here as well even though he tossed more scores. Shelton a great year with 899 yards and 8 scores, and McCarthy netted me another All Pro and 1k season. Curry down here as well. Ah well.

Blocking

This is a very bad year blocking. It was a new year with two rookies but it was still a down year. Jeffries wasn’t as good as a C should be either.

Special Teams

K Ballard – 27 of 31, Long of 51, 45 of 48 PAT

Just missed 4 FGs and 3 PATs. Not bad rookie!

P Bennett – 93 for 43.7, 45 in 20

A great in 20 % and Bennett’s good year.

We had 0 KR/PR

OT Laurain- 14 special teams tackles

Defensive

Cote led my team in tackles and Montgomery was solid with 103. 10 sacks for Dunn is a big step down from 15 last year and 5 fewer for Samuels as well sitting at 9. 7 sacks for All Pro Hanks. A down year for my SLB Montgomery with just 3. Rookie NT Wynn with just 1.5, we’ll need to get that back up.

Pass Coverage

Not as good as last year when I had two players with 9 and 7 picks, but this was fine in the picks and Montgomery’s 20 pasdef led the league at all positions! Byrnes missed 4 games so no judgment there.

Off. Player of the Year – WR Heath McCarthy – 2nd straight All Pro. He did great stuff to net a pair of 1k seasons. Good stuff McCarthy!

Def. Player of the Year – WLB Brock Hanks – Great year by the 5th year pro and this is his first All Pro with his loads of sacks! There was a year he led all LBs with 9 sacks and was robbed of the All Pro so it’s nice to see him come back to form!

Sp. Teams Player of the Year – P Jeremy Bennett – Low avg but very high inside 20% his best. Good job Bennett!

Rookie Award – K Johnny Ballard – Never seemed overwhelmed out there. Low number of kicks and PATs missed!

Heart Award – CB Carson McIntyre – Dimeback with 2 picks and 4 pasdef. Good stuff vet!
