The 2093 NFL Amateur Draft

Picking 1.1 is Portland and I think they’ll go QB with Wally Fox and…they do so! S See you at the 1.32!

I forgot to interview folks. Whoops!

Who fell?

RT Alonzo Escribano – Similar stat line to my 1.31 pick last year only more random
WLB Camden England – Top player on the board, Bars are just okay
SLB Bernard Francis – Better bars than England, 2nd best LB on the board
RB Peyton Reyman – Top RB on the board, looks pretty sexy

Here’s the top OT on the board

Looks good with the Run blocking, and just like my pick last year goes down for each stat below it. A solid option at RT, right? This could be my new Laurian.

And here’s the top RB who could replace Curry who dropped to 47/47. Okay speed and power and great 3rd down but again, is a gamble. This could be my new starting RB.

Who do you like?

Who do you like?

I need RT too much to pass it by.

2.32 – TE Leonardo Herndon? I only have 2 on my roster. He’s a pass catching specialist. LT Frederick Lewis? I only have 2 OTs on the draft board prior to the draft. MLB Tyrone Vaughan? Vaughn looks like a grower. I go MLB. I am a 3-4.

3.32 – WR Ernest Gassner? I only have 3 WR under contract right now. He looks like he REALLY FELL.

4.32 – P Myles Robinson? SS Darien McGregor? He looks like a grower. I only have 4 DBs on my roster. I grab McGregor.

5.32 - TE Randall Dubin?

6.32 – RB Jeremy Springer? FS Herman Fredrickson? I go FS

7.32 – RT Miles Stargell?

Rookie Lookie #1

1.32 – RT Alonzo Escribano, Wyoming, 16/64
2.32 – MLB Tyrone Vaughn, Oregon State, 44/53
3.32 – WR Ernest Gassner, Wingate, 42/72
4.32 – SS Darien McGregor, San Diego State, 16/45
5.32 – TE Randall Dubin, Tennessee, 30/48
6.32 - FS Herman Frederickson, Minnesota, 18/41
7.32 – RT Miles Stargell, South Carolina, 30/55

There you go!

Gassner would be the first stud WR I have had with the Eagles/Miners as no one was 70+. Nasty if he holds!

The 2093 NFL Preseason

I hand out rests and massage my depth chart. Laurain is better than my new RT so he’ll be starting. I move Vaughn to SILB and start him so give him experience. I move Gassner to my #1 spot.

Week 2 – Jacksonville – We lose 23-9

Week 3 – At Pittsburgh – We lose 23-27

Week 4 – At Houston – We tie 23-23

Week 5 – Cincinnati – We tie 13-13

This is a record I’ve never seen before. We finish the preseason 0-2-2. Wow.

Rookie Lookie #3

1.32 – RT Alonzo Escribano, Wyoming, 16/64, 21/63, 22/64
2.32 – SILB Tyrone Vaughn, Oregon State, 44/53, 49/56, 52/70
3.32 – WR Ernest Gassner, Wingate, 42/72, 47/74, 50/85
4.32 – SS Darien McGregor, San Diego State, 16/45, 20/43, 20/41
5.32 – TE Randall Dubin, Tennessee, 30/48, 33/50, 34/56
6.32 - FS Herman Frederickson, Minnesota, 18/41, 22/43, 24/53
7.32 – RT Miles Stargell, South Carolina, 30/55, 37/57, 37/62

Whoa Gassner! Stargell rose and is about as good as my 1.32 pick! Rough.

UFAs

P Efrian Crotti, 15/75, 17/67, 17/51
CB Bart Juckett, 27/56, 31/53, 32/55

Extensions

I extend these players

Curry – 66 mill 4 years

2 Years Left?

I hold off OG Giovanni Clifton since he’s just 62 pot. I want to keep an upgrade option open next year.

Rookies

Let’s skip my 1.32 pick you’ve seen and do my 2 new studs at 2.32 and 3.32

Here’s Vaughn, a 70 pot LB that I moved to SILB ad started in the preseason. Great Run d which you need and pass rush is fine for an ILB, and coverage is okay for everything not named man to man. He;s a big hitter as well. Welcome

Now let’s look at the big one

Whew! Very well rounded and a stud. Gassner is now the 2nd best POT in the league at 85! NICE!!! Very well rounded and great looking. This guy is going to need that pocket book opened.

Actually, Gassner is the 5th best pot in the league, tied with Jeffries!

Rookie Investigation

QB – Three solid QB Draft with 70, 68 and 65. Then a 51
RB – 61, 5 50s, Reyman finished 34/41
FB – 65, 58
TE – 70, 68, 3 50s. We have 3rd best with Dubin.
WR – We have the best WR and player at any position with Gassner, 2 60s, 4 50s
C – 76, 64, 54
G – 77, 71, 5 60s, 5 50s. The 71 stud was on the board when we picked at 1.32 and could have walked away with a stud.
T – 78, 4 60s, 5 50s. We have the 3rd and 4th best OTs in the draft
DL – 81 – the only other player with an 80+ from the draft, 3 70s, 1 60, 9 50s – 1 73 DE player was taken 2.9 and could have been grabbed at 1.32
LB – 3 70s, 3 60s, 5 50s, Vaughn is the 3rd best LB in the draft
DB – 3 70s, 60, 7 50s – One better DC was on the board at 1.32 as well.

Our RT pick wasn’t the best but hey, at least he didn’t bust too much!

Stats

offensive

Passing

QB Moya – 334 of 493, 3645 yards, 33:8, 104.9

Nasty rating, led the league in scores with a lower number of att. Than others. Led the legue in % as well.

Rushing

Rb Curry – 313 for 1671, 5.34 ypc, 16 score

He doesn’t look like he dropped to 47/47 amiright? He led the league in yards by 250+ and scores by 3 and his ypc was 3rd for 16 game starters. Nasty stuff!

Receiving

Gassner cracked the 1k mark in his final game where he grabbed 97. He was 7th in yards a rookie. Shelton was second with 743 yard and 10 scores and dropped to 50/50 but didn’t play like it. Good stuff!

Blocking

Jeffries led all players in KRB and had a ton of pancakes and only allowed 4 sacks. This was the first year he put together everything, although this was the first year he wasn’t still growing a he was very green. Lynn cracked 30 in 15 starts and was great as well. Even my LT had a good year. Good stuff O Line!

Special Teams

K Ballard – 37 of 43, Long of 58, 58 of 59 PAT

Great sophomore year Ballard! And your first All Pro as well. Hopefully the first of many, right?

P Bennett – 77 for 43.4 and 27 in 20

Feh

WR Shultz – THREE KR RET TD

Noice!

Laurain – 19 special teams tackles

Defensive

Montgomery led my team in tackles and grabbed me a nice 6.5 sacks. All Pro for Samuels 15 sacks that led my team and was 3rd most in the league. Dunn a nice 12.5 sacks as well. That was tied for 6th most. DT Wynn netted me 8 sacks and his first All Pro. Hanks also had a nice 8 sacks at the WLB spot. Greet year for the sacks!

Pass Coverage

Not a great year here. Down years in picks and pasdef by most players. Simonsen led with 5 picks but just 7 pasdef. Not bad for him. Rookie Juckett was with 2 picks and 5 pasdef at nickel.

Off. Player of the Year – OC Bert Jeffries – Led the league in KRB, and finally put his ability to practice. I hope there will be many more!

Def. Player of the Year – DT Preston Wynn – A DT that grabs you 8 sacks and gets All Pro in his 2nd year is a great thing. If he can keep up this momentum the sky is the limit!

Sp. Teams Player of the Year – K Johnny Ballard – Like Wynn, dude got an All Pro in his 2nd year in the league. Great stuff!

Rookie of the Year – WR Ernest Gassner – Was 7th in the league in yards and cracked 1k as a rookie. Good stuff!

Heart Award – WR Bert Schultz – Dude had three KR RET TDs one of which was the difference in a win. Good stuff Schultz!

I scout folks in the draft. Since I forgot last year. I interview 10 DBs

I sign my RFAs. I leave 5 RFAs unsigned.

We have 65 mill in cap space.

Vets in Last Year

FB Davison – Wants 12 mill ove r3 years. Okay

QB Moya – Wants 236 mill for 3 years. Okay

RT Laurain – 69/69 ability, 11t year. Wants 44 mil 2 years. Okay

FS Cook – Wants 65 mill for 3 years. Done

TE Gassman – Not resigning him

WLB Hanks – Wants 117 mill over 4 years. I holdoff until post draft

MLB Harmon – Wants 14 mill 2 years. Done

Rookies in Last Year

WR Schultz – 55/55 – Wants 36 mill 3 years. I do so. Nope, he is livid and won’t resign

LG Clifton - Wants 99 mill for 5 years. I hold off until post draft

WILB Cote – Demanding trade.

CB Schneider – 50/50 wants 40 mill 3 years. I sign him

Two Years Left

I sign OG Lynn to 101 mill 4 years

Wynn wants 319 for 5 years. Ouch. I cannot afford that this year.

I sign LT McGilllicuddy to 66 mill 5 years. A great price for an LT.

Any UFAs I want to bring back? Curl wants 7.2 mill 2 years. I offer him a deal

Week 5- LB Hayes signs with Richmond

Week 11 – Curl resigns us

The 2094 NFL Amateur Draft

The Ravens are picking first. I predict they are going with the 2nd best player on the board RB Tucker Meadows. And they go…WR Casey Gerhardt. Meadows heads to the Colts at 1.3. See you at the 1.30!

1.30 – Who is still here?

FS Eugene Crane -Very overrated, top DB on the board
SS Reginald Perez – Very Overrated 2nd best DB on the board
WLB Raul Whitney – 3rd best player on the board, good looking bars, no interview
TE Lionel Sowers -2nd best player on the board and my starter dropped to 50/50.
LG Ryan Reilly – Underrated – Top OG on the board.
TE Eugene Progin - 2nd TE on the board better bars in blocking

Let’s look. I’m unsure

Here is Whitney who could replace Hanks’ salary which would help extend Wynn at DT. Hanks is a 7th year 64/64 LB with one All Pro with a 45 mill hit and this guy is a pass and run stopper that you want at WLB. Do I grab him or do I go somewhere else?

What would you do?

Moya is still sitting at 71/71 in his 13th year and the dude is 35 years old. How many more years will he have before he retires? Backup QB Bratsch is my primary QB of interest to start for my team and he’s now 46/62 and was a great pickup at the 4.29 spot.

Hall of Fame Check

Here are my odds for the HOF in order from most to least likely

QB Moya – QBs are the easiest to get in. Moya has 3 Rings, 2 as a starter, 2 League MVP,3 All Pros. Moya could retire after this season without adding another Super Bowl and has a pretty much automatic chance of getting in.

RB Curry – In his 7th year, Curry has built a strong case for Hall of Fame and would be my worst RB to do do. He has Off. Rookie of the Year, Super Bowl MVP, 1 league MVP, 4 All Pros, 2 Rings. He could retire this year without another Ring or All Pro and he’d likely make it in.

Those are my autos, the rest are longer shots

SLB Malik Montgomery – 2 All Pros, 1 Def. Rookie of the Year, 2 Rings , the 9th year vet really needs another All Pro or Two to likely make it in, he dropped to 72/72 which is still doable.

WR Heath McCarthy – It’s easier for WRs to make it in. The 9th year vet is 56/56 and has two All Pros, and 2 Rings. He might need a 3rd All Pro or some more Rings to make it in, but it’s possible.

DE JB Samuels – The 5th year vet has two All Pros already at a hard spot to make it in in his 1st four years, but he’s just 63/63 and thus has a harder chance of netting more sacks. 1 Rings. He’d need more All Pros, but if he finishes with 4 or 5 he’d have a great chance of making it in.

RT Renaldo Laurain - The 11th year vet is starting likely his last campaign for us and is still at 63/63. Two All Pros and 3 Rings. He probably needs a 3rd All Pro this year, which is doable for a RT of his caliber.

Dt Preston Wynn – This studly guy is in his 3rd year but already has 1 All Pro. He needs to keep up the parabola but he has loads of talent and time to do so.

C Bill Jeffries – Has loads of talent the 5th year vet just got his first All Pro. Getting All Pros at C are harder since only two get it, but Jeffries has the talent to do it all day long we just need him to really play up to his talent level. Last year was his first year he was playing at a mid80s level as he was so green.

DE Stan Dunn – The 8th year vet only has 1 Ring and 2 All Pros. He’ll need a career renaissance like Witcher had, but the 66/66 DE doesn’t have anyone fighting him for time so it’s possible.

K Johnny Ballard – It’s hard for a K to make it. The only K to do so has 2 Rings and 3 All Pros. Ballard already has one All Pro in 2 years and 1 Ring. If he gets some more and has a lot more Rings, then he could be on the inside out. Ballard at 75/75 is the 2nd best K in the league.

The 2094 NFL Regular Season

I think we’ll go 13-3. I have 6 injuries coming out of preseason, none worse than questionable.

Week 1 – At NYG – Uh Oh. I lost here last year and lost at home to the Super Bowl winners in the Conf. Championship last year. We win 29-9. Big Win! Moya, MVP, 20 of 28, 255 and 1:1, score by Gassner, rush scores by Curry and Moya, pick by CB Henry, FF by Montgomery and Vaughn, rec by Wynn, 2 sacks by Samuels, 4 KRB by Lynn.

I cut P Bennett after he heals and sign undrafted rookie LT Donny Cunningham who is 11/39.

Week 2 – Jacksonville – Uh oh! Another heavy in our schedule! We win 36-27. MVP? Moya who is 21 of 30 for 312 and 3:1, scores by WR Brinkley who is 5 for 113 and 1 score; Curry and Schultz, 2 sacks by Samuels,

Week 3 – At New Orleans – Another big match up. This team has been winning it’s division a lot recently. And… we win 23-6! MVP is Moya, 25 of 33, 304 and 2:0 scores by Gassner and Brinkley, Curry is 29 for 158, pick by Vaughn, FF by Montgomery, Hanks and Vaughn, rec by Wynn, 6 KRB by Lynn,

Week 4 – Richmond – We had three rough foes in a row so we’ll drop a game to Richmond… Nope! We thump them 50-16. Wow! MVP is 22 of 32, 266 and 5:1 and was pulled in the 4th quarter. Scores by Gassner who was 8 for 144 and 3 scores, and Curry and Brinkley, picks by CB Juckett and Montgomery, FF by Hanks, 3 pasdef by CB Schneider,

We are 4-0 at the first quarter with a big win there.

Off. Player of the Year – RB Curtis Curry
Def. Player of the Year – SLB Malik Montgomery!

All Pro 1st Team

QB Norman Moya
RB Curtis Curry
K Johnny Ballard
ILB Tyrone Vaughn
SLB Malik Montgomery

All Pro 2nd Team

WR Edward Gassner

That’s the first All Pro for Gassner and Vaughn, both in their 2nd year with my team! Montgomery just dominated this year and won a trifecta! A 32 year old SLB just won Def Player of the Year! That’s his 3rd All Pro. Ballard with his 2nd All Pro for the 3rd year vet and back to back All Pros. I thought Moya was on the way to league MVP but he nailed another All Pro. Curry a trifecta for the 47/47 rated 7th year vet who is just 28 years old. Good stuff gang!

Stats –

Offensive

Passing

QB Moya – 327 of 469, 66.9%, 3846 yards, 28:8, 102.8 rating

He led the league in rating, was tied for the most tds, and was best in %, but he was 7th in yards and took a few hundred fewer than last year. Good stuff Moya!

Rushing

RB Curry – 387 for 1480, 3.80 ypc, 14 scores

He led the league in scores and yards.

Receiving

Gassner was 2nd In yards by 39 and tied for 6th at 8 scores. Our team was really a one-man Gassner show with 5 100+ games for the top WR on our team and one with 200+ ad just 2 other 100+ games for Brinkley and McCarthy. Curry finished a solid 3rd with 67 grabs for 562 yards and just over 2k yards in scrimmage. My TE Dubin was just 339 and was very down in yards and scores. Again this was just a one man show despite the talent level of the others. Davison had 5 scores but just 267 yards.

Blocking

Jeffries and Lynn tied for the team league at 34 KRB. Jeffries has the talent level and KRO to do better this year, and Lynn was great, His 9 pancakes were the most in the league by 2. Good job Lynn! His 34 KRB were 10 off the best and a few more might have gotten him an All Pro. This is Laurain;s final year as a starter. I was hoping for a resurgence as the guy was still rated 63/63. But he didn’t play to it.

Special Teams

K Ballard – 47 of 55, Long of 58, 51 of 54 PAT

Not the best year % wise but he led the league in FGs made and PATs made.

P Evans - 80 for 43.4 avg, 33 inside the 20

The rookie had an okay in 20 % in the top 10 but his avg was way too low.

WR Gassner/ WR Schultz – Each with a KR RET TD

SILB Tyrone Vaughn – 22 special teams tackles

Defensive

Montgomery led my team with a nice 97 tackles and has a great year tackling. DE Dunn was team leader with a great 14 sacks and that was 4th in the league and no All Pro followed, sad. DE Vaughn was 2nd with 10 sacks even and was really far down the leaderboard. Hanks grabbed me 9.5 sacks and that was…4th best among LBs, but no All Pro for him either. Montgomery’s 9.0 sacks were 5th among all LBs and he did net me All Pro. DT Wynn was rocking 6.5 a step back from last year’s All Pro.

Pass Coverage

Montgomery and Vaughn led my team with 6 picks each which was one off the leader at 7. Both had a pick six and Montgomery grabbed me a ton of pasdef at 14 and was 2nd to the top on my team with pasdef. Vaughn deservedly got an All Pro after a 6 pick season. Byrnes was next with 3 picks and led my team with a solid 15 pasdef. Henry and Cook, other starters netted me more than 10 pasdef and picks. Good year in pass coverage!

I interview folks.

I cut Renaldo Laurain and save 18 mill

I sign my RFAs. I have 57 mill free

These vets are in their final deal

SE McCarthy – 56/56, wants 42 mill for 3 years, 10th year vet. I hold off

SLB Montgomery – 10 year vet, 72/72, wants 194 mill for 3 years. I hold off as well.

DE Dunn, 9th year vet, 66/66, wants 82 mill for 3 years. I do it that;s pretty cheap.

FS Simonsen – Dropped to 48/48 I do not extend

QB Bratsch – 46/62 wants 38 mill over 3 years, I do so

MLB Harmon – Wants 15 mill, 2 years, I do so

I extend three backups inc Curl and Schneider as well as my LS.

Rookies in Final Year of their Deal

DT Wynn – Wants a massive 202 for 5 years. I do it.

WR Brinkley, - Wants 122 mill for 5 years for the 61/61 rated guy which is reasonabl.e I hold off until post draft.

K Ballard – Wants 89 mill for 4 years. I do so

I have 25 mill left

What do key leavings want?

WLB Hanks – 120 mill for 4 years. Too much.

WILB Cote? 17 mill 2 years. I make him an offer

WR Schultz? Wants 24 mill for 2 years. I make him an offer as well. I need to keep cap space for Gassman next year. I also am losing Brinkley and McCarthy next year if things aren’t drafted and keeping Schultz for a year is good roster management. I up his offer to 26 mill to sign him.

Week 4 – Cote rejoins us

Week 5 – Schultz joins us again, Hanks signs with Portland

Week 8- Gassman heads to New Orleans

The 2095 NFL Amateur Draft

Drafting 1.1 is Boise. I think they’ll go with a QB named J.J. Elizabeth...and…they do so! See you in 31!

The 1.32 is here. Who do I like?

MLB Alejandro Patton – 2nd best player on the board, As Scouted, great run stopping, weak elsewhere
SLB Cary Oliver – Okay bars, 3rd best player on the board, very overrated
WLB Jeffrey Dunlap – 6th best player on the board,3rd best LB, very underrated. Okay bars.
WLB - Quentin Billig – 4th best LB on the board, okay bards, Hard to read.
FB Conrad Sapia – Top FB on the board, okay bars, very underrated
CB Sam Evans – 2nd best CB on the board, better bars than the first
DE Devan Duncan – The top player who is not a C, LB, or FB. Fine bars but nothing amazing. I’m deep at DE though.

Is this draft about Dunlap?

Here he is. I drafted my Hanks replacement last year and all he did was bust down to 51 pot. If Dunlap also busts or doesn’t grow much I won’t have a good WLB to start for me. His bars are just okay, unless he grows well. He’s a gamble.

Do I take Dunlap? Or go somewhere else?

Should I go elsewhere? How about WR? I need replacements for McCarthy and Brinkley. The top WR is Sean Unger. Take him?

I take Unger. He seems well rounded and solid for the 1.32 spot

2.32 – Who fell? Rb Jeffery Torelli? SS Max Gilpin? I like Torelli. He seems like he’s better than 47/47 Curry.

3.32 – WLB Quentin Billig is still on the board, the hard to read WLB and I grab him.

4.32 – Who’s the Bap? I like DE Griffin Nordbye. He looks like a pass rush specialist.

5.32 – MLB Randy Weinstein? I do it.

6.32 - CB Jameson Trippi – top CB on the board.

7.32 – BAP? I grab RB Alex Lester. He’s bust insurance.

Rookie Lookie #1

1.32 – WR Sean Unger, Clemson, 26/61
2.32 – RB Jeffery Torelli, South Carolina, 46/52
3.32 – WLB Quentin Billig, Washington, 34/55
4.32 - DE Griffin Nordbye, Miami, OH, 29/58
5.32 – MLB Randy Weinstein, Iowa State, 27/39
6.32 – CB Jameson Trippi, Southern Utah, 26/39
7.32 – RB Alex Lester, Virginia Tech, 23/32

There you go!!!!!
