question about position switching
If I have a DE who is 10/20 overall, and I want to make him a DT where he is 12/30.
Am I better off switching right away, OR Letting him gain the 10 development points and then switching. I ask because gaining 10 at DE could maybe be faster than gaining 18 at DT(strictly because it's a smaller number, not related to positions at all) Am I looking at development all wrong? Any input appreciated. |

I'd say don't get too caught up in these overall numbers... they are merely some sort of weighted average of the relevant ratings. I'm guessing your guy is best at run stopping, which is weighted more highly for a DT than for a DE.
If his real future is in a Dt rotation, then switch positions ASAP, preferably as a rookie, and look to adjust his weight in the training camp stage if it's not too late to do so (the scout will guide what makes sense for his current and potential new position). He sounds like a pretty marginal player anyway, so no need to sweat this too much. |

It doesn't matter at all from a bars/developed perspective for defensive players when you switch...the CMBs are generated at FA1 based on the bars and position so I always recommend switching positions before then
